Camilla's POV

We stood there locked in each other's gaze, and every second felt like an eternity.

The silence stretched between us, thick and charged with something I refused to name. Gerald's eyes held mine with an intensity that made my pulse quicken against my will. Those dark eyes seemed to see straight through every barrier I'd carefully constructed, peeling back layers I didn't want exposed.

My throat felt dry. Why did he have to stare at me like that? Like he was memorizing every detail of my face, like he was searching for something hidden beneath the surface. It made me feel vulnerable in a way that terrified me. My traitorous mind conjured up that dream again - the one where he stood close enough for me to feel his breath on my skin, where his hands had traced paths that made me wake up breathless and confused.

I blinked hard, trying to banish those thoughts, but he was still watching me with that unreadable expression.

A deliberate cough shattered the moment.
