Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 Sweet Triumph

Delia's POV

The adrenaline had finally begun to ebb as I stepped through my front door, leaving behind the chaos of the hospital. In its place came something far more intoxicating - pure, unadulterated triumph.

Everything had unfolded exactly as I had orchestrated. Perhaps even more flawlessly than I had dared to hope.

I kicked off my heels in the entryway, wincing slightly at the soreness in my feet from my hasty exit earlier. But the minor discomfort meant nothing now. I set my purse down on the console table, drew in a long breath, and allowed myself a moment of genuine satisfaction.

Tonight, the house itself seemed transformed. The atmosphere felt cleaner somehow, as if a poisonous presence had been lifted from my world.

I moved to the living room windows, adjusting the curtains to let the warm evening light filter across the space. My pulse still raced, but not from anxiety - from exhilaration. From the sweet taste of a plan executed to perfection.
