Fugaku's expression darkened.
This wasn't just the clan's number one prodigy, it was the only person besides him to awaken Mangekyo.
Even though Shisui constantly babbled about the Will of Fire, Fugaku still valued him immensely.
Garp let out a cold snort.
"Which of your eyes saw me blind the brat's Mangekyo?"
"Is that not what happened?"
Fugaku asked, stretching out his arm to block the furious clan members behind him, each one looking like an erupting volcano.
"If you knew what this brat's Mangekyo ability actually was, you wouldn't spout such nonsense in front of me."
Garp's tone was flat.
"Shisui's Mangekyo ability…?" Fugaku's heart sank.
"Kotoamatsukami. A jutsu that forcibly invades a person's mind and permanently rewrites their thoughts and will."
The moment these words left Garp's mouth, every Konoha shinobi present felt a coldness seep into their bones.
"Invasion of the mind? Permanent alteration of will?"
"How can this clan's temperament and techniques be so damn sinister?"
"I finally understand why Shisui suffers such severe backlash when using his Mangekyo!"
Orochimaru and Kushina snapped out of their shock, and their gazes toward Shisui instantly changed.
They became filled with deep wariness, disgust, rejection, and even a faint, almost imperceptible killing intent.
Genjutsu that tampers with thoughts or memories wasn't unheard of.
But up until now, such techniques were either reversible once dispelled, or they had strict activation conditions.
Even Root's brainwashing secrets required long, extended sessions and still had chances of failure, or being undone.
"Shisui… your Mangekyo ability is…"
Fugaku felt a chill crawl up his spine.
He knew very well where Shisui's loyalties lay.
If one day the Uchiha truly turned against Konoha… would Shisui use Kotoamatsukami on him?
Or… on his entire family?
Something like "Loyal to Konoha," for example?
"Does that mean Shisui just now tried to modify your will?" Kushina suddenly asked.
"Not good!" Fugaku's face drained of color instantaneously.
For a moment he could no longer even think about how to defend against Kotoamatsukami in the future.
Because he already had a faint idea of what Shisui had tried to do to Garp.
And the very knowing made his heart tremble with fear.
"That's right. This Uchiha brat is indeed greedy, and vicious. The command he tried to implant into me was…"

"Be loyal to the Uchiha..."
The moment those light words fell, they exploded like a missile detonating beneath the ocean, sending waves roaring in every direction.
"Hiss… this brat is vicious.
"Lord Garp saved Konoha from the crisis, yet not only does Shisui show no gratitude, he even uses such a sinister Mangekyo technique during a spar!"
"Damn it! If Lord Garp weren't strong enough to resist Kotoamatsukami, any of us could've become Uchiha's mindless puppets after a simple spar."
"Are all Uchiha this evil?"
If Garp's explanation of Kotoamatsukami had only allowed people to imagine its threat, the command "Loyal to the Uchiha" instantly ignited a wave of fury.
Ninjas who already disliked the clan were especially outraged, as if Shisui hadn't targeted Garp but them instead.
"No need to treat those eyes. Just bury the man here!
Who knows when some Uchiha will get annoyed with me and drag this guy out to cast another Kotoamatsukami on me?"
Hearing that Shisui tried to permanently force Garp into loyalty to the Uchiha, Kushina, her expression frosty, spoke a line both domineering and righteous.
A line many shinobi secretly agreed with.
