Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

GLORY!

There was a loud silence in the room. Everyone was standing in a daze, doing their own things. Some were gritting their teeth in disbelief. Some were holding their breaths. Some were gasping for air. And some were lost in their own thoughts.

Regardless, it was all connected to a single thing. They had seen how Lord Grim was defeated but didn't understand how.

"What just happened!?"

Chen Guo spoke up, her fist clenched and shaking, her pupils shrinking in terror. With her taking the lead in questioning, they only realized the match had ended.

"Yeah... what happened? Does anyone know?" an onlooker asked, his head looking left and right to see if anyone had an answer.

Surprisingly, there was...

"It's Teleportation." he replied calmly, pinching the edge of his chin.

"Teleportation? What do you mean by that? Isn't it an exclusive skill for Mages!?" He eyed him suspiciously.

"That's true! How can an Assassin use that?"

"He probably has a secret dual class!?"

"Idiot, that's impossible!"

This became a sort of discussion, arguments flying left and right. Only a few understood.

It was indeed the Mage skill Teleportation. The animation spoke for itself after the skill was activated, but the number of people who understood the source and knew the reason could be counted on one hand.

Meanwhile...

Ye Xiu and the mystery man stood up from their respective stations and met each other face-to-face. There were still a few seconds of silence before Ye Xiu decided to offer his hand.

"Congratulations! That was an impressive game."

"Thanks, you played well." He didn't shy away and accepted the handshake. His face, still hidden by a cap, only showed a faint smile.

"Here's the bet..."

Ye Xiu handed over 100 yuan, his hard-earned money. He planned to use that money to buy cigarettes, but now it was gone just like that. Ye Xiu wanted to cry, but there were no tears.

"Oh... sorry, I wanted to take your money. But you don't know how to play..."

"You…"

A trace of black lines formed across Ye Xiu's forehead.

Wasn't it the same thing he said to Tang Rou earlier? He truly knew how to play with people.

"Hahaha! It looks like you got karma! Is it good, Little Tang?"

Chen Guo laughed in amusement. It was bad, and she shouldn't be laughing, but it was just too funny.

"...I guess?"

Tang Rou was no exception, but she held herself. Not that she knew how he felt! Instead, her gaze shifted to the person who defeated Ye Xiu.

This guy... Have I seen him before?

Tang Rou wasn't certain, but she didn't think much and put the thought at the back of her head.

"Boss..." Ye Xiu felt helpless against them. He felt like he was losing face.

"Haha! Relax, I'm just kidding," he said jokingly, his lips curling into a sly smile. But for a second, he seemed serious.

"To be honest, I only bet when I am the challenger. I accept money when I am accepting a challenge."

"I see... then, should I challenge you this time?" Ye Xiu issued another match, but he simply shook his head in refusal.

"We already agreed; it's only a single game. Besides, I'm going to lose the next challenge. The second match will only be a matter of ego and not winning or losing. I don't think you are affected by that."

"Yeah... you're right." Ye Xiu nodded.

When they were done, the audience barraged them with questions, starting with the mystery man.

"Hey, how did you use Teleportation earlier?"

Asked by some random dude. It was rather rude, asking something that basically pried into someone's secret, which others disdained.

This dude didn't know courtesy!

The only visible pink arc on his face was gone, turning into an expressionless look as he spoke.

"It's not good to pry into others' secrets. I'm in a good mood today, and I don't want it ruined by strangers. Excuse me then."

He raised his hand slightly, offering a silent gesture before logging back into his station.

The dude's face reddened in shame. It wasn't his intention; he got excited and forgot his boundaries. Good thing he didn't hold a grudge.

Seeing this, Chen Guo knew they might target Ye Xiu next, so she acted decisively.

"Alright, enough! You guys can go!" Chen Guo protested.

"Boss... we wanted to see more."

"No! There will be no rematch or discussion! Hurry up and leave!"

The crowd glanced at them before reluctantly dispersing. What was left to see? Some wanted to know the answer to their questions, but they were unlikely to, so it was better to play their own game than stay here.

Chen Guo nudged Ye Xiu first. Although she laughed earlier, she was still worried about him losing.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Yeah," Ye Xiu nodded lightly.

Contradictory to her worry, though, Ye Xiu didn't seem concerned in the slightest, which put her at ease. In fact, there was a bit of joy in his eyes, as if he had discovered an island full of treasure.

"That's good then, as long as you're fine. Anyway, what happened? How did you lose?"

There were no recordings, so it was impossible to fully review things for them, so Ye Xiu made a summary.

"There's not much to say... as you saw, we traded blows until he gained an advantage by using Teleportation and VitalStrike to end me."

"Is that it?"

Chen Guo was astonished; she knew what VitalStrike was. It was an exclusive skill for the Assassin class after reaching the awakened stage at level 50, where the user could exchange their life points for equivalent damage—truedamage that ignores any defense.

"That summarizes everything... what do you want to know more about?"

"How come you were a little bit careful compared to fighting Tang Rou? Wouldn't that change the outcome if you played more aggressively?"

Chen Guo stared at him dumbfounded. This was bothering her. When Tang Rou dueled Ye Xiu, he showed different skills and weapons, but this time his options were limited, as if he was holding back. She was expecting more of a reason than a simple explanation.

"Not really..." Ye Xiu gave her a short response.

Chen Guo felt her face redden. "What, did I ask something wrong?"

"He was already aware of what I can do and had countermeasures."

"Was that really the reason...? Whatever! But you still didn't answer one thing!"

"What is it?"

"How come he can use Teleportation?"

Ye Xiu pondered for a moment, not coming up with a solid explanation behind the science of silverequipment. He only gave his thoughts.

"I'm thinking it's related to his equipment. You probably didn't notice, but he had a silverweapon."

"A silverweapon?"

Chen Guo's mouth opened wide, her jaw almost hitting the ground.

Tang Rou was having trouble catching up; she pulled Chen Guo's blazer like a kid asking their mother for something.

"Guo Guo, what is a silverequipment?"

"A silverweapon... is a self-made equipment," Chen Guo started.

"In GLORY, they have different equipment, with orange being the best. But there's greater equipment—that is the silverequipment! It doesn't drop from bosses or anything; it's unobtainable, and the only way to get one is to create it yourself using the equipment editor..."

In GLORY, they even have a saying: 'A self-made weapon isn't necessarily the best, but the best weapon must be self-made.'

Chen Guo explained but didn't go through complicated details; if she pointed out the difficulty of creating it, Tang Rou might lose money buying materials.

"Still, I'm surprised that a weapon can have an extra skill from a different class. This is unheard of even in the alliance." Ye Xiu pointed out another piece of crucial information.

"Unheard of? Does that mean... even pro players with backers didn't know this?" Chen Guo questioned, and he answered with a firm nod.

It was true even the most talented hadn't discovered that additional skill slot from another class in a weapon, at least not yet. Because if they did, it would revolutionize GLORY.

"Who in the world is he? A pro player? You've been in the pro alliance before; have you ever heard of him?"

"No."

Ye Xiu shook his head in denial and expressed his thoughts about her question with reasonable explanations.

"I don't think he's in the pro alliance; they don't allow anyone to make a public appearance and wander around carrying an important GLORY account like that."

"That's true..."
