Chapter 49 - Chapter 19 Dragon Rider pt2

Before Sylvie could step on the stage Arthur interfered and said, "I believe we should move the queue to seniority." He knew that the rest of the Generals might get disheartened if they saw another supernatural being got through the dragon like it was made of paper. Eden saw Sylvie's face scowl and sensed she was really trying to prove her own show of power and ability in fighting in her army. But she also noticed her General's look and nodded in agreement with Arthur. "He's right, let's be fair any allow everyone with seniority go first. I appointed Maximilian first because I wanted to give him the option of choosing his path. However, each one of you has already chosen yours and it's logical for us to go by seniority, That means Arthur is next." Sylvie crossed her arms and did a little pout. Gideon and Lewis rolled their eyes because they knew their Lieutenant really likes a good challenge to test her strength as much as Kane and Oscar. She would be slightly childish when it came to being told to wait before heading into a fight. But she would still hold her composure and wait until she was given the order to go.

Arthur was about to head on to the arena when Eden tapped his shoulder. She flinched a little because of the flashes, but she searched for his call for strength in every fight. Then she said, "May your aim be true and your will sharpened by God, for he is with me and by extension with you as well. Today is the day you will have to fight." Arthur felt his heart light on fire at the words he heard. They were similar to something he had heard long ago if he could remember, but they served him as strength right now. He walked over to the center and repeated the words Eden had just told him. They echoed in his mind and heart. He could feel his heart beat grow stronger and his body began to send charges through all his veins. Eden felt a sense of goodness in her heart. She knew the feeling very well. The same feeling she got after fasting and prayer. Arthur then said, "God be with me."

In a quick step, Arthur charged at Ikarus attempting to get to him before he reacted. Ikarus quickly swung his tail at Arthur, but he dodged it with a flash step. At Arthur's sudden realization of his new ability, he flashed step again out the way from Ikarus swing again. Ikarus was beginning to get annoyed that he was able to move so quickly from every attempt he had made to hit Arthur. Then Arthur took another quick step and with a punch to Ikarus chest he sent him flying backwards towards one of the pillars. Onlookers needed to jump out of the way from getting crushed. Ikarus got up and did a fire breath throw at Arthur, then he did the same above expecting him to be in the air as Maximilian. But instead of Arthur emerging from the top, He emerged from the flames in front of Ikarus. Arthur now had a golden see through giant in front of him that was identical to him. He went through the flames behind him. Then the giant jumped towards the dragon and it made Ikarus use his wing to cover his face. But the punch didn't land. Instead Arthur was right beneath him with his sword pointing at Ikarus neck. The see-through giant appeared to have shrunk and entered Arthur. Within seconds.

The crowd cheered at the sight of Arthur winning the challenge with a show of a new skill. Sir Tristan and Sir Lancelot rushed over to Arthur to ask him where he had been hiding all that power. Arthur looked at Eden and said, "I believe it wasn't I who held it this entire time, but someone helped me find it." Erza was already giving Ikarus another healing potion to recover. Ikarus was beginning to feel more irritated by the second. Another embarrassing loss. How is this Eden woman able to hone so many powerful individuals under her command?

The rest of the Generals were not so quick or able to win against Ikarus. It gave him his confidence back. Ikarus was sure those first two were freaks of nature. They had to be to wield such power. Sir Tristan was close to winning against Ikarus, but when Ikarus took off in the air, it was a losing battle.

Then it was Sylvie's turn. She was waiting patiently to show her power. She was about to step into the arena when Eden said, "I know you're powerful, but if you intend to be Ikarus rider. You need to defeat him in a way he chooses you. Sylvie paused to think, did she really want to be the dragon rider or was she just trying to demonstrate her power. What gain did she get from showing off her strength if the dragon still doesn't choose her. Then Sylvie looked at the Lycans watching her. She then thought, I already command the royal guards of Queen Celeste. Then she looked at Eden and thought, but the Queen has ordered me to stand by her and aid her. I can still do that without being the dragon rider. Then she looked at Eden again and remembered she didn't just want to follow her orders from Queen Celeste, she wanted to walk beside Eden to help her when she needed. She was a kindred spirit.

Sylvie walked to the center of the arena and looked at Ikarus in the eyes as she made her speech, "I do not wish to fight you! I wish to fight by your side to fulfill my role in being Eden's aid. My crew that is waiting over there are also assigned to aid Eden in battle. They too have supernatural powers and they too will stand down at my command." The Lycan showed a glimpse of their power and then powered down to kneel and bow their head. Sylvie continued to say, "If you still wish to fight me, then I will do it in defense, but with a sadness that will make me weep for I am the strongest among them." Sylvie closed her eyes and the earth beneath her moved to form two giant golems that took the shape of knights with armor. Ikarus thought to himself he can manage two, but his eyes widened as two more emerged behind them. Then another two more and it continued until the arena was filled with giant knights towering over Sylvie. She pushed herself up and landed on the shoulder of one knight with her eyes glowing. Ikarus was thinking he could melt or crush the two, but there were so many of them. It was clear to him that she was a high grade magical type. How else can she command so many golems at once and still have reserved power. Then Ikarus took a step forward and said, "you. I choose you to be my rider."

Eden liked Sylvie's approach. Mentally defeat him by showing your true strength and showing him mercy. She then said, "You better fix my arena and do something about those golems." Eden walked away, but paused and looked at Sylvie to say, "well done. Dragon rider."
