Chapter 53 - Tang San and Xiao Wu

Seeing this, Su Cheng did not go over immediately. Instead, he pulled the old village chief to stand where they were, chatting while secretly observing the situation unfolding not far away.

What followed developed exactly the same as in the original work. Yu Xiaogang stepped in to resolve the conflict and then led Tang San into the academy.

Su Cheng immediately had a clear understanding—this real world was no different from the original timeline.

Yet his heart grew somewhat heavy.

Tang San himself was not the problem. What was troublesome were the god behind him, his identity as a child of fortune, and that father who liked to secretly observe his son's growth.

When the two figures disappeared into the distance, Su Cheng said to Wang Pan, "Village Chief Grandpa, you should head back. I can go in by myself."

"Alright, Xiao Cheng. When you're in the academy, listen carefully to the teachers. Don't ever leave the academy on your own. When the semester ends, I'll come pick you up."

"I understand, Village Chief Grandpa. Be careful on the road."

After he left, Su Cheng finally walked alone to the front of the academy.

At the center of the tall archway were written four large characters: Notting Academy.

The young gate guard who had just been reprimanded by Yu Xiaogang saw yet another plainly dressed youth arrive at the entrance. Doubt arose in his heart, but he still stepped forward to block the way.

"What are you here for?"

"I'm a work-study student from Wangsu Village. This is the certificate issued by a Spirit Hall deacon."

"Wangsu Village? Never heard of it." The gate guard took the certificate Su Cheng handed over, glanced at it a few times. "Innate soul power of 0.5? That counts as a soul master student?"

As he spoke, he looked at Su Cheng, preparing to mock him a bit to vent his frustration.

However, when his gaze met those calm eyes, his heart suddenly stalled.

This child clearly looked very young, and his clothes were extremely shabby, yet there seemed to be a special bearing about him, unlike someone from an ordinary family.

For a moment, the gate guard found himself at a loss for words.

"May I go in now?" Su Cheng said calmly.

"Ah? Oh, go on in."

Seeing the other party step aside, Su Cheng nodded, retrieved his certificate, and entered the academy.

Because no one was guiding him, Su Cheng spent some time completing the enrollment procedures.

"I'll stay in the academy for a couple of days first, then I need to get some money. Living here like this is really inconvenient."

Thinking this to himself, he arrived at the mixed-gender dormitory for work-study students.

"Another new student?"

As he pushed open the door, a slightly spoiled yet crisp female voice rang out from inside.

"Hey, I'm the boss of this dorm. Hurry up and call me Sister Xiao Wu."

As she spoke, a girl with a long scorpion braid turned her head to look at the newcomer.

The moment their eyes met, Xiao Wu's body suddenly froze, and her words caught in her throat.

Tang San, who had been paying attention to the girl from not far away, suddenly noticed that her body was now trembling slightly.

This was, of course, not because Xiao Wu had been moved to the point of excitement by Su Cheng's looks.

She was frightened.

In that instant, Xiao Wu suddenly recalled the fear she had felt when she was still a weak Soft Bone Rabbit, facing the top predators of the Soul Beast Forest.

In the other's eyes, it seemed as though streaks of sword shadows flashed past—like a giant wolf lying in wait to hunt, ready at any moment to pin her to the ground.

Su Cheng ignored Xiao Wu. After giving her a glance, he continued walking into the room.

He had no particular thoughts about Xiao Wu.

Although he knew her true body was a hundred-thousand-year soul beast, and that her soul ring skills and soul bone skills were quite good, they did not match his attributes, so obtaining them would be meaningless.

By comparison, the soul bone of the Blue Silver Emperor was his true target.

As for soul skills, he did not actually care much.

In the end, they were merely special ways of utilizing energy. Once the underlying principles were understood, with his medical attainments and combat comprehension, he could find many combat techniques far better than ordinary soul ring skills.

Suddenly, Su Cheng's footsteps halted.

Hostility—and even a faint trace of killing intent.

He felt somewhat surprised and turned his head to look at the boy standing behind Xiao Wu.

Such heavy baleful aura.

He knew that Tang San would go mad whenever something happened to Xiao Wu, but if he remembered correctly, the two of them had only just met not long ago, right?

And besides, he hadn't done anything. Was it really necessary to get this worked up?

He then glanced again at Xiao Wu's current state and finally came to a realization.

It was probably because she had only recently entered human society. Some soul beast instincts had not yet completely faded, making her even more sensitive when encountering danger.

"What did you just do?!" Tang San said coldly, while his left hand lifted slightly.

Tang Sect rules: Tang Sect disciples must not lightly provoke trouble, but if actively infringed upon, they may repay it with thunder.

General Outline of the Tang Sect's Mysterious Heaven Record, Article Three: Once it is determined that the opponent is an enemy, if they deserve death, do not show mercy—otherwise you will only add trouble for yourself.

In Tang San's view, the students in this academy were nothing more than a group of children. Any conflicts would only be minor scuffles, and he had no interest in competing with kids.

But Xiao Wu's current state was clearly not something a minor conflict could explain.

She looked as though a mouse had seen a cat—her body trembling violently, nearly unable to stand. This was completely different from her lively demeanor when she first entered. Clearly, something was wrong.

Bullying a young girl like this, in Tang San's eyes, was no longer an ordinary conflict.

He had no intention of killing anyone here, but he did intend to test the depth of this peer before him.

The sleeve arrow at his wrist was already poised to move.

Su Cheng's brow furrowed slightly, his gaze shifting.

"Kid, you'd better put that thing away."

As Su Cheng's eyes turned toward him, Tang San suddenly felt a wave of pressure.

Clearly, the person before him was about the same age as himself, likewise not even a soul master yet. There was no killing intent in his eyes—only a faint, indistinct sharpness.

Yet when that gaze fell on him, Tang San felt as if he were plunged into the deep sea, wrapped in layers of crushing pressure, unable to move.

At that moment, a hand reached toward him.

Tang San's pupils shrank, and a trace of cold sweat seeped from his temples.

He struggled with all his might against that pressure, yet still found it difficult to break free.

That hand merely patted his shoulder.

"Don't bother me."

Before figuring out the relationship between the Asura God and Tang San, Su Cheng did not wish to have too much entanglement with Tang San.

Moreover, hidden in the shadows was an unscrupulous Tang Hao—someone he was utterly incapable of dealing with.

After warning Tang San, Su Cheng walked to a bed and sat down, pressing his fingers against his forehead.

"The pressure brought by sword intent is simply too great. It's impossible to fully restrain it. It's fine when facing ordinary people, but anyone with even a bit of soul power can tell something's off at a glance. Until I've completely adjusted my condition, it's better to limit contact with others."

On the other side, Tang San finally relaxed slightly.

With a face full of apprehension, he glanced at Su Cheng, who had closed his eyes to regulate his breathing. Clenching his fists, he silently returned to his own bed, momentarily forgetting to comfort Xiao Wu.

Amid this stiff atmosphere, the other students in the dormitory dared not speak at all, each pretending to be extremely busy.

There had been far too many sudden developments today, leaving these children feeling overwhelmed.

First, a freak with a Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul but innate full soul power appeared, easily defeating the former dorm boss Wang Sheng.

Next came a girl who defeated that very freak, Tang San.

And finally, this person—far more terrifying—silenced the previous two with nothing more than a look.
