Chapter 16 - Pregnancy

TWO WEEKS LATER

Noah (POV)

Two weeks had passed since the chaos at the gala, and Noah had fallen into a gentle routine at Diamant's mansion. Every morning he opened the curtains, letting sunlight spill across the polished floors. Every day he organized company schedules from home, responding to emails, sorting documents, preparing reports.

But something was wrong.

Every time he tried to eat, a strange nausea twisted in his stomach. Even the smell of food made his chest tighten.

During breakfast, the butler frowned.

"Sir Noah, you've barely eaten these last few days."

"I'm fine," Noah insisted, pushing a smile. "Maybe it's just stress."

But he knew stress didn't feel like this.

A strange idea appeared in his mind—one he pushed away again and again until it refused to be ignored any longer.

Could he be…?

His hands trembled slightly as he purchased a simple manual pregnancy test from the pharmacy on his walk home. He hid it inside his jacket, heart pounding the entire way back.

He went straight to the bathroom.

Minutes felt endless.

When the result finally appeared, Noah covered his mouth with both hands, breath shaking.

Positive.

His heart fluttered, terrified and overwhelmed at once.

Diamant's child. Inside him.

He didn't know if he should cry or laugh.

And he didn't know if Diamant wanted something like this.

After pacing the room for several minutes, he called him.

"Diamant?" Noah's voice was barely above a whisper.

"Mm? Noah? You sound tired—are you resting?"

Noah inhaled shakily.

"What do you… think about the idea of… a baby? Just in general."

There was a short silence on the other side. Papers rustled. A muttered order to someone. Diamant's voice came back, slightly strained.

"A baby? Right now… I'm overloaded with work, Noah. I don't think I could take proper care of one at this moment. Why? Did something happen?"

Noah's heart dropped.

He swallowed.

"No reason. Just wondering."

Diamant hummed softly, as if sensing the shift in Noah's tone, but work pulled him away again.

"We'll talk later, Noah. I promise."

The call ended.

And Noah sat on the edge of the bed, hands shaking around the test.

Diamant didn't sound ready.

And Noah didn't know how to tell him.

---

Diamant (POV)

Diamant ended the call feeling… uneasy.

Noah rarely asked strange questions. And that gentle tremor in his voice—it wasn't nothing.

But there was no time to figure it out.

A crisis had erupted in the overseas branch.

A threat targeting his patents.

Suspicious financial movements.

Diamant summoned his team immediately—Evan included.

Evan Leigh leaned against the office wall with crossed arms.

"You can't delay. You need to go to City B."

Diamant sighed. "And Noah?"

"I'll look after him," Evan nodded. "You've trusted me with worse."

Diamant glanced at Noah's saved contact on his phone again.

Something didn't sit right.

But he had no choice.

Before leaving, he went home and called Noah into his study.

"Noah," Diamant said softly, "I'll be gone for three days. I want you to rest. Eat properly. If anything happens, call Evan immediately."

Noah nodded with a polite smile.

"I will."

Diamant stepped closer, tucking a strand of Noah's long hair behind his ear—slow, careful, almost reverent.

"Sleep well while I'm gone," he murmured.

Noah's chest tightened, but he kept the truth locked inside.

Noah (POV)

The next morning, the nausea grew worse.

He tried to eat.

Failed.

Drank water.

Failed again.

"I need to confirm it…" Noah whispered.

So he went to a clinic in the city—a quiet one. Not his usual. Somewhere no one knew him.

After the tests, the doctor returned with a calm expression.

"Congratulations. You're pregnant. Everything is stable so far. But you need rest."

Noah exhaled shakily, holding the report like fragile glass.

Diamant…

He didn't want a baby right now.

So Noah walked home slowly, unsure of what to do.

Eventually he texted Diamant—not the truth, just a hint:

Noah: There's something I need to tell you.

(sent)

He hesitated… then added another.

Noah: About… the baby thing.

(sent)

He stopped again.

Should he send the test photo?

His thumb hovered.

Maybe later.

After he thought more.

He stepped out of the clinic doors—

And collided with someone hard.

Noah froze when he looked up.

Silver eyes.

Cold smile.

Aiden Frost.

"Well, well…" Aiden murmured. "Look who we have here."

Before Noah could step back, Aiden grabbed his wrist.

Something fell from Noah's hand.

The test report.

Aiden's eyes dropped…

Read the words…

His expression twisted.

"So you actually had the nerve," Aiden whispered, voice icy, "to get pregnant with another alpha's child."

Noah stepped back. "Aiden—let go—"

Aiden's smile sharpened.

"No worries," he murmured.

"I'll do you a favor."
