Story Arc: Vanguard Academy arc
Drex Pov:
As i walked through the halls, i thought back to what the commander told me yesterday. Like what did he mean by the devil that possessed me isn't completely fused with me yet? And why is something like ranks so important here. I still remember that incident with the B rank boy that day and i rubbed my forehead and sighed.
"The last thing I want is to get fucked up by some strong ass hunter"
But still I can't just stand by and watch someone else get bullied for some dumb reason. As I walked further I saw someone standing just up ahead. I was looking from behind but i felt like I've seen that person.... I didn't really care so when I walked past her I heard a familiar voice call out to me
"Heyyyy!!!!!"
I turned around and saw someone waving at me
"Oh hey Amy"
She ran up to me with a big smile on her face.
"Good morning"
"What's up.. I didn't think it was you hehe sorry"
"No it's fine I didn't really notice you either... So I'm guessing you're going to class"
"I guess so"
"Great do you mind if we walked together"
At that moment i realized the kind of person she was. She was very out going and straightforward i and actually kinda liked that; at least she would wouldn't be bored to death hanging out with someone like me. But another question crossed my mind.... Did i actually want her to hangout with me?
For as long as i could remember i always seemed to push people away except for one person who kept coming back to hangout with me and it often surprised me that she actually was enjoying herself. I felt a small frown creep on my lips as i realized I really missed her. My one wish was just to see her again even if it was one last time but it was never going to happen as even though she was a hunter she would've been way out of my league.. that's if she even remembers me.
It was starting to spoil my mood so i decided to lay off it for now and just focus on getting to class.
No POV:
As Drex and Amy reached the class, they opened the door and walked in. Instantly the class fell quiet as everyone turned to them
"Who's that guy that Amy walked in with is he new?"
"I dunno but he's actually kinda hot"
"Looks can be deceiving y'know"
"Is he a hunter?"
Words like that started to rise and small audible murmurs were heard. Hayley on the other hand looked up from her phone when the noise was getting too much to ignore and her eyes fell on Drex. Even though she was wearing a helmet Drex could feel her glare pierce through his soul. He just ignored her and scanned for any free sits but his face turned sour when he realized that the only free seat was next to Hayley. At that moment Vaden spoke up
"Class, this is Drex he's a B rank and he'll be joining us from today"
At that moment the atmosphere dropped
"See i told you.. his looks are only to make up for his weakness tch how pathetic"
Drex just stared out the window as he thought to himself
'i guess people never change its the same everywhere... Fucking assholes'
Clearly irritated by this Drex just walked towards the empty seat.
"Hey why are you here?"
Drex glared at her
"Cuz it's the only free seat... Unfortunately"
Drex seemed to hate this probably way more than she did but had to sit through this hell.
Right after class he met up with Vaden.
"So how was class"
"It was crap"
Vaden laughed a bit clearly amused
"Well i think it's time you got assigned to your squad"
"Ugghhh finally I just hope I don't get put in a crappy ass squad"
Vaden shook his head
"Oh you're not. As matter of fact you'll be put in a better squad... My squad..."
"Ok that's actually kinda good when do we get there?"
"Right now"
They arrived at the barracks with a number 7. Drex's smile instantly dropped as he remembered hearing that number from someone. Someone whom he really didn't want to remember right now.
"Wait"
At that moment he spotted Hayley walking out with a scowl on her face
"What the fuck is HE doing doing here"
She said pointing at Drex
"Uhmm Commander why do I always have to be stuck with her"
Drex clearly looked unpleased but Vaden answered
"This has nothing to do with her. I pulled some strings and got you in my squad that way, I'll be able to look after and train you"
Drex seemed to care less about what was happening he only wanted to know why he was put here out of all available squads....
"Now then....."
Hearing Vaden's voice he turned to the direction it came from but in a split second everything changed. One moment Drex was standing on the squad 7 main ground and the next, he was flying through the barracks.
Drex was confused when he slammed into the wall near the entrance. Was he attacked? If so by who?
He managed to pull himself from the wall still trying to gain his footing when another punch was sent straight into his gut so fast that he couldn't even see it. A splatter of blood flew from his mouth as we went tumbling across the floor making a small crater in the ground when he stopped.
"Did you figure it out yet?"
Drex was still trying to recollect himself when Vaden spoke up again walking towards him.
"An academy so big it looked like another city. 9 squads with special ranking commanders in each of them and you somehow ended up in the MY squad."
Saying that he launched another attack sending Drex into another wall.
"Do you know why?"
At this point Drex finally decided to answer; slowly peeling himself from the wall and replying with a very calm expression
"I knew this was all your doing.. there's always a fucked up shit attached anyway so why bother"
Vaden replied.
"You caught on.. well long story short I pulled some strings, spoke with the higher ups and finally landed you here...
Now you're stuck with me"
BANG
Vaden went for another attack but Drex managed to block that one making a bang sound.
At this point Hayley, Vax and Jax made it to the entrance and saw Vaden pummeling another human being.
"He's holding back"
Hayley blurted out. To her, if Vaden wanted him dead, his first attack would have been more than enough to do so. She was aware of the overwhelming power her commander possessed and even holding back proved to be a challenge to the other squad members; her included.
There was no way for her to stop them so she could only watch and hope they don't destroy the barracks.
Bang, bang bang
Each time Drex was shot through the walls and buried into the ground, he still had that calm expression but traces of pain could be seen on his face and the fact that he was already almost covered in blood.
"Is that the best you can do"
Vaden taunted delivering a knee to his stomach and punching him upward.
Vaden used the speed skill he used earlier to propel himself upward behind Drex's back leaving a trail of lightning behind him. When then both gained altitude, he delivered an axe kick shooting Drex back down making him hit the ground so hard, he bounced. The next intance Vaden started attacking from all directions. And Omni directional attack punching, kicking and cutting Drex everywhere. Hayley noted that the commander was still using all his skills but in weaker variations as she watched Drex stumble and bleed everywhere.
Soon Drex was shot into another wall, rebounded and shot with an energy blast that created a shockwave strong enough to make the ground shake.
BOOM..
The whole place was covered in smoke and sparks that coursed through the smoke. Everything could be seen from outside the barracks and whoever saw it only prayed a silent prayer for whoever commander Vaden was training.
Vaden immediately rushed into the smoke with another punch when he felt something like a palm stopping and catching his fist.
His deduction was rght as he felt his fist being held and he noticed that this was not the person he was fighting a few moments ago.
Everyone looked on in shock as the smoke cleared revealing an arm that was now sporting a deep shape of red with elongated claws as fingernails, a vice grip and a deep deadly growl.
Even Vaden was taken aback as he saw Drex's face for the first time as what he was looking at was a demon and not even a hybrid to begin with. His eyes were even a deeper shade of yellow and it seemed to glow each time Drex took a breath. The scar on his face was even more pronounced as it extended to the center of his cheek.
"What's the matter? Never seen a devil before?"
The tone which Drex said that carried an eerie weight with it with a dark demonic undertone. The way he smiled, the way his sharp rows of teeth which were already exposed widened as his fangs seemed to grow with bloodlust.
Truly terrifying.
Drex wasted no time to commence his counterattack as he pulled Vaden's arm and went straight for a punch. Vaden blocked it but was sent flying back sliding on the floor as he went. The next instant Drex launched himself towards him intending to land another blow but Vaden was quick enough to dodge.
'he's speed has increased quite a bit and his attack power is one to be cautious of...'
Vaden thought to himself but this thought was abruptly stopped as Drex finally landed a hit knocking him back.
He admitted that the hit stung but that was the least of his worries.... Drex rushed at him intending to use the same attack Vaden used on him but unfortunately he was not fast enough.
Grrr
Drex was sent flying back in a failed attempt to to hit his commander. He quickly regained his bearings and launched himself forward once again clashing with Vaden multiple times.
"I like this part of you"
Vaden stated as he kicked Drex.
"Don't worry you'll get to see more of it"
Drex replied.
Vaden didn't expect this to happen to tell the truth but it didn't mean he was not prepared for it either. After all he was holding back. He would have chosen to end this fight this moment but he was also impressed with the transformed hunter Infront of him.. he decided to prolong this a bit longer.
With that in mind he managed to drive Drex back but he quickly closed the distance once again.
Hayley just stood on the sidelines watching her commander trade blows with Drex. Seeing his transformation the second time didn't mean she was used to it nor did it mean she wanted to see it again... She remembered the chills she felt when Drex first transformed and right now she was feeling those chills again. Those cold yellow eyes and overwhelming murderous intent were all at a near PTSD level. She really wanted this fight to stop. It was getting her uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable.
Drex and Vaden clashed again but this time they both dealt heavy damage on themselves as Vaden delivered a powerful punch his shoulder knocking him back. Drex on the other hand didn't want this opportunity to go to waste as Vaden was wide open. He took the chance to kick him as hard as he could on his forearm before stumbling back.
Crack..
The audible sounds of bones cracking were heard as they both dislocated each other's shoulder and forearm respectively. As they were both gave themselves enough distance to catch their breaths Hayley thought the fight was finally over as she saw the dangling joints they both currently possessed. But she didn't expect what happened next...
Her eyes widened in absolute shock when she saw Vaden and Drex slowly bring their non affected hands to the injured ones. They gave each other an intense stare before forcefully jamming the loose bones back into place. Vaden launched towards Drex while Drex flexed the arm to make sure he could still use it when he noticed that his other hand was split. A visible cut ran along his arm from his wrist to his elbow.
'mmmh there's no time to heal that'
BANG
Drex was shot through another wall before being hit with an energy blast destroying his jacket. Vaden casually walked towards him also checking if his arm would give out before he got proper treatment but as he approached the dust he felt something; like a wave of devil energy he didn't feel up till this point. When the dust settled, he saw Drex standing with his arm out and palm opened towards him. On his palm, there was a red orb forming. A sphere spiraled it's way into existence. Vaden knew there was no way to dodge that at point blank range as he was already too close.
In the final moment Drex stared Vaden directly in his teal eyes right before he shot the blast
BOOM...
