Hayes's expression shifted, his brow tightening even further.

A white wolf… wasn't that Norton?

Unfortunately, the man had gotten separated from Jameson's group halfway through, leaving no way to extract any more useful information. And these two subordinates of Jameson hadn't brought back much in the way of fresh intelligence either—at best, they merely confirmed some of the suspicions Hayes and the others already had.

Hayes rubbed at his temple, a dull ache blooming behind his eyes. Coldly, he said, "Understood. In any case, stay alert. Let's see what he intends to do first."

Sensing the tension, Albert squeezed the soft pad of Hayes's hand, trying to draw his attention away. "Don't overthink it. Maybe they just got lost."

Hayes remained silent for a long moment. After a while, he lowered his voice and said, "If anything happens later, you leave first. Stay in the rear and find an exit back to the surface."
