It seemed the cat still loved him after all. Last night's coldness had indeed just been his imagination.
Maybe Hayes was simply too tired. Thinking this with characteristic thoughtfulness, Albert decided he should learn to be more understanding.
"Why aren't you sleeping a bit longer?" He rubbed his bleary eyes and leaned in to cuddle up to the cat, feeling that it was still early.
It was early morning. The sky was only just beginning to lighten, and the dense canopy of the rainforest blocked out most of the natural light outside. Their field of vision was still filled with mist, the path ahead impossible to see.
"I don't feel like sleeping anymore." Hayes shook his head and didn't say much else to Albert—he couldn't, even if he wanted to.
Albert was nothing more than an entirely ordinary human. Even if Hayes talked about defective products or the Yuncheng base, what would the other possibly understand?
So Hayes simply changed the subject. "Are you hungry?"
