These were Albert's… spider children.

The vast swarm of juvenile spiders surged forward like an unstoppable army, sounding the call to charge against the caterpillar mutant.

The spiders that had never been trapped inside the illusion from the beginning were naturally unaffected by the pollen's control and hallucinations.

They were highly venomous carnivorous predators to begin with—so much so that the toxin coating the caterpillar's body likely meant nothing to them.

One after another, they leapt onto the caterpillar mutant's bloated, balloon-like body. They deliberately avoided her poisonous spines, crawling fearlessly across every inch of her form as if they were sightseeing.

But the place they targeted most was her face—

the area that looked least protected, least venomous, and easiest to bite.

The caterpillar mutant froze, her attacks on Hayes coming to a sudden halt as terror seized her.
