Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Graduation Certificate

Walking out of the Room of Requirement, Lynn's expression was a bit subtle. To be honest, the gadget he had just received for October surprised him quite a bit.

In the past three years, the most high-tech gadget he had received was probably the Adapting Ray. Even though the Adapting Ray only remained effective for half an hour, it was sufficiently "overpowered." Once illuminated by the Adapting Ray, one could jump into a lava pool to take a bath; no environment could cause him any trouble.

Although magic could potentially achieve similar effects, the complexity and difficulty were much higher.

As for other gadgets—like the Bamboo Copter, Ownership Stickers, or the Camping Capsule—the magical world had many alternatives, and their effects weren't bad either.

But undeniably, in terms of wonder and how "unscientific" they were, Doraemon's secret gadgets were a bit more powerful than magic.

If magic is a fairytale reflected in reality, then secret gadgets are fantasies becoming reality.

He had just received one of these fantasy-type gadgets. It was even almost brand new, with practically no traces of use!

This was the second "mint condition" gadget Lynn had received so far, but it was much more powerful than the Bamboo Copter.

There were unexpectedly few people in the Common Room. Percy must have shooed the students back to their dormitories, allowing only those who needed to read or do homework to stay. However, today was Halloween, and with the incident that occurred tonight, very few people had the patience to read.

As soon as he pushed open the dorm room door, the noisy chatter suddenly stopped. Lynn, currently in a very good mood, smiled and greeted his roommates.

"What are you guys chatting about so happily?"

"Is it possible... that we were arguing just now?" Dean threw himself onto his bed; he seemed tired from talking.

"Talking about the troll?"

"Sort of. At first it was, but then there was other stuff."

Seamus, whose face was somewhat flushed, was clearly a bit annoyed. "Ron said he didn't do his Potions homework and has to turn in an essay tomorrow. I already told him, I don't dare let him copy Snape's assignments, but this guy just won't let it go."

"About the distinction and summary of the medicinal properties of Valerian and Belladonna?"

Lynn paused slightly. "Can't that essay be written just by flipping through the books? One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, Directory of Common Herbs of Swamps and Woodlands—I know of four or five books that have content on this. It's not hard, is it? Besides, Potions is in the afternoon. If you go to the library tomorrow after lunch, you can finish it in an hour no matter what."

"That requires him to actually be diligent and not slack off."

Seamus huffed angrily. "Anyway, I'm not lending it."

"Didn't I just forget before..." Ron's face turned a bit red. "Anyway, you copied from the book too. Me going to the library is just looking at the same stuff."

"Then go copy the book yourself, don't ask me. I already let you copy the Transfiguration homework, isn't that enough?"

Looking at the situation, it seemed like an argument was about to break out again.

This was the first time such a thing had happened in the dormitory. In the past two months, when Lynn returned to the dorm at night, most of his roommates were already asleep.

"That's not a good habit, Ron."

Although Lynn didn't like lecturing others, he was in a good mood today. Furthermore, because of the scent-transmitting gum incident earlier, he had thought about finding a chance to compensate him. Although it was Ron's own greed that caused it, there was an element of Lynn's own carelessness involved.

"After all, studying is for yourself. Although everyone has times when they slack off, it's best if you can correct such a habit."

Ron pursed his lips and nodded. His expression wasn't great, but he didn't refute it; he just looked sullen.

"Maybe Ron just forgot before," Neville whispered at this moment. He didn't want the relationship between classmates in the dorm to become too stiff. "I also often forget about homework. Like last week's Charms assignment—I only remembered I hadn't done it when Seamus asked me on the day of the class. I finally rushed it out in the Great Hall."

Neville's words made Ron look at him with gratitude. "I really did forget before. If it weren't for that, Snape's homework... you guys know, right?"

After everyone calmed down, Seamus and Dean felt there was some reason to it. After all, that was Snape. No one wanted to be deducted points, given detention, or assigned manual labor by that guy.

Since the incident in the second week of school, even the little snakes of Slytherin had all become obedient. When Snape got angry, he would really make an example of them.

"Everyone has some small shortcomings, more or less. Including me, I have them too."

Lynn pulled over a chair and sat down, speaking calmly. "Discover the shortcoming, correct the shortcoming, and then become more outstanding. I think only by doing this can one make oneself better. Although—you guys are probably thinking, if I had the ability to change, I wouldn't be like this now, right?"

Speaking of one's own shortcomings, actually many people are very clear about them in their hearts. But knowing is one thing; whether one can take action to change them is another matter entirely.

"Lynn, do you have any method you can teach us?"

There was a trace of longing in Neville's voice. "My bad memory always makes me mess things up. If not for your stickers, I might be missing a few books right now, unable to find where I left them."

"There is a way, but this method can't cure it completely. It can help you correct it immediately, but the duration is limited. After this help ends, you have to rely on your own will to persist until you completely reverse it."

"This is a specific medicine, but it has a time limit."

The four people in the dormitory gathered in front of Lynn, looking at him with burning eyes filled with curiosity and expectation. After all, they still wanted to change things like bad habits.

[Da-da-da-da, da~ da-da]

A mysterious BGM sounded, and Lynn extended his round hand.

"Instant Graduation Certificate!"

Lynn took out the secret gadget he had just received today. Serious mint condition, usable many times.

"This thing... is what? Letting us graduate directly from Hogwarts?"

A completely confused Dean looked at Lynn in bewilderment. He couldn't quite figure out what this thing had to do with correcting bad habits.

"What does graduation mean?"

"Leaving school?" Seamus tentatively answered.

"Correct, leaving school. But this isn't for you to use to graduate from Hogwarts, but a certificate to let certain habits graduate and leave your body."

Saying this, Lynn opened one end of the scroll, and a paper covered in scrawls slid out from inside.

[Graduation Certificate: Hereby certifies that _____ has graduated from _____.]

"These characters are so strange. Are they Ancient Runes? The stuff you do in Charms class?"

Standing beside Lynn, Neville looked carefully, but couldn't understand the scrawls on it at all.

"It's Japanese. It has nothing to do with Ancient Runes."

Lynn briefly introduced the item: "Just write the content you want to 'graduate and leave from' in this blank area. Then, as long as you carry it with you, you can break free from its interference. Whether it's laziness, forgetfulness, carelessness, or whatever else, as long as you have it, you can break free from its influence on you."

"But the premise is, you must carry it with you. Once it is discarded early, torn, destroyed, or reaches the time limit, then it will lose effect. The validity period is one month. After one month, its effect will slowly fade. During this fading period, you can continue to persist through your own will, constantly strengthening your conviction to completely correct it."

"Of course, if your heart is very resistant to what is written here, or if you never thought about correcting it at all, then its effect cannot be fully displayed, and the duration will also be shortened."

"Each person only has one chance."
