Chapter 9 - chapter 9- silver dust

CHAPTER 9

"Teach you how to? - of course!!" his eyes twinkled.

"So basically first, depending on how strong your core is, that can determine how much or how big you can create. Magic like water and plants have an advantage." He started.

"what's a core?" I asked.

"core is your essence, essentially. As you grow physically or mentally, your core grows. Your core determines how strong or weak a person is. Think of it as your heart, without it you can literally die or be weak. People can enhance the strength of their core by training and experience" he explained carefully.

"Basically, my core is medium to high, so I can create quite a few things, hence the donkeys and wagon, also the wagon is smaller simply because my core is running out. So yeah, I can show you" he pulled his hands out.

"it's all about your imagination, if I think about a ball right now, my vines will form just like this" I watched as the vines bind together into a ball. "Give it a shot" he coaxed.

"okay" I'm starting to understand now, my core is just weak, that's okay, I can enhance it. I followed his instructions and thought of a small ball. I pulled my water into my field of vision before starting.

The water formed slowly, I watched as it curved and remained straight, inconsistent yet very slow. Before it remained a line.

"it didn't work!" I groaned. "Wait, I'll do it again," I said, starting again.

"It might be because you aren't used to attack spells, be careful" Ravi warned.

"I did it! A ball!" I exclaimed.

"oh yeah, well done" he clapped his hands.

Ravi taught me many small defensive and attack spells that day, Thalia often used rocks to determine the force of my magic

"I want you to create a dent in this rock!" Thalia said.

"a dent? Well I can try.." I said

I started with my magic, trying to maintain the amount of energy.

"Don't worry, if it doesn't work the first time it doesn't mean it's a bad thing, you either might need more experience or! That type of water energy isn't your type!" Ravi ranted.

"isn't my type?" I questioned.

"yep, there are many types of water- based magic, like blood magic, creation, ice, heat, and stuff! And the reason why sometimes it takes so long to master is because it's just not their type. That's why water magic is the third strongest." Ravi watched me attack the rock "like my plant magic, my type is creation and flowers, however, people can create shields, healing and stuff. So it honestly depends on the person" Ravi explained.

"I see, that means there's a 50/50 now, either Rina's magic is because she's inexperienced or it's because she has a different type. Hmm. That's so cool!" Thalia's eyes glowed.

"Will I have magic like mommy one day?" Kian said.

"Yes you will, or maybe a stronger one!" I cheered. "That's quite exciting, and annoying, having to explore many to find one" I groaned.

Time flew by so quickly, before we knew it we were in silver dust. Many people flooded the streets, even more than the people in the village, with different classes. Some people wore expensive jewellery and clothes, some didn't.

Many students ranging from different ages headed straight to the school, many were in wagons, some walked, some floated with their magic.

People with high status walked through the city like a parade, eagerly showing off their wealth.

We finally reached the school. The school was massive, stretched on for miles on end! Many people came in and out from the school, the schools name was written in big bold letters, "The Great Silver Dust Academy for Magic"

"wow" I whispered. It was fascinating, the door looked like it was made from plant magic. The windows, everything.

"The registration is over there, let's go" Ravi said

We joined the line that felt like hours.

"you may enter, what type of magic do you have?" a tired old man asked

"nature magic" Ravi replied

The man scribbled something on a paper and pointed to the entrance that led to a huge arena. But instead, Ravi stood at the entrance, waiting for us.

"Children from age 3 are put in nursery magic school sir, you can ask for directions from the other staff." The man said looking at Kian. "next"

Ravi gently held Kian's hands, they stood away from the crowd, patiently waiting for us.

"All women are meant to join the healing group; you aren't allowed to enter" the man halted

"What!?" Thalia screeched "do you even know who you're talking to Mr!?"

"Princess or not, every woman is put in the healing group"

Thalia was taken back "you're letting me in there, or I'll talk to the head of this pathetic school" she continued "in fact, do you even know who I am!?"

"Fine by me," the man sighed. He used his magic to send a message to the head. "he should be here, also regardless of status, every woman here is taught healing magic "

A tall man, with a professional attire, a modest haircut and mint aroma arrived at the scene "your highness, do you have any issues?" he bowed respectfully

"yes, I do." Thalia started "what does me being a woman have to do with me not going inside sir?"

"Women are not permitted to enter those grounds your highness, women around here focus on healing, in case of any wars that might happen in future" he replied, his tone relaxed

"so you just see women as tools to be healed? How about this, women shall indeed continue to take healing lessons, as well as the lessons with the "men" in there" thalia pointed to the roaring voice "if I win fight with one of them and win" Thalia challenged

"Lia are you insane!? You know what? It's not like you'll listen anyway" I rolled my eyes

"we can't grow stronger if we're always stuck at… healing" thalia continued

The man stared at Thalia for a while; you could feel his gaze piercing into her soul. Yet he maintained a relaxed tone. "Classic, many high classed, children always come here with the same tone" his eyes still lingered on us both, almost like he was judging us. "Very well, you shall fight one of our strongest men, if you lose, you'll join the healing group and receive extensive training until you leave."

However, if you win, I'll allow it, but only the women with high backgrounds and high intelligence. You have 4 days." He said turning away, his heels clacking as he left.

"You're an idiot Lia, he looked pissed!" I scolded.

"He can be angry all he wants, We will win."

"we? You want me to fight as well?" I stared at her. "But he didn't say anything about Rav or I participating?"

"Yeah, but I don't think he cares to be honest. He definitely thinks that we will lose" Thalia said "Besides! I want you to fight with me Nerina. We will do this together. And Ravi of course"

Thalia said warmly, she held my arm and gently pulled me into the enthusiastic crowd.
