Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: The Cat-Girl Anya Adds Fuel to the Fire

Syr, who was hiding in the distance observing the interaction between Ryu and Lin Feng, had an unusual glint in her eyes.

"This new god... feels somewhat different from the others. He has an aura that is captivating, making one want to cling to him."

This was also why Syr would sometimes involuntarily want to get closer to Lin Feng.

Whenever he went to the Hostess of Fertility tavern, Syr would immediately rush out to serve him, sometimes even sacrificing her break time. It was no wonder that in just a few days, her friend Ryu sensed Syr's unusual feelings for Lin Feng.

It wasn't just Ryu; a few adventurers and the other waitresses also knew about it.

It's just that Lin Feng seemed to pay little attention to her, sometimes even looking toward Ryu, who was busy working on the side.

However, Syr felt no jealousy about this at all. For now, she only wanted to check Lin Feng's true nature more thoroughly, as well as the girls in his Familia, who possessed such captivatingly pure souls.

If Lin Feng knew about Syr (Freya)'s thoughts, he would surely curse: Damn it! It's one thing to be interested in me, Lin Feng, but you won't even spare the girls! Too despicable!

....

"Thank you, Lord Lin Feng."

Ryu snapped out of her daze and realized the ingredients in her arms were gone. She could only thank Lin Feng for his help (even if it was a bit forced).

"Lord Lin Feng, I heard... something happened between your Familia and the Apollo Familia."

The two walked side by side on the street. Ryu suddenly recalled the major event from a few days ago. Although the talk among adventurers had gradually lessened over the last two days, as a tavern waitress and given her former strength, she had a comprehensive understanding of the incident.

"Mhm. If Little Ai and the others hadn't been strong enough, they would definitely have been injured or killed because of that incident."

Lin Feng was not surprised when Ryu suddenly brought this up. As a tavern waitress, she likely heard many things.

"Phew... It's good that nothing happened."

Ryu also sighed in relief. After all, she had asked Aunt Mia for leave that day and followed Lin Feng's group. She quickly left when she was discovered, but she hadn't expected such an incident to happen right after she left.

So, the thought that someone she cared about could have died due to her oversight... if it had actually happened, she would probably fall into endless self-reproach again.

"Ryu, don't worry. I gave my adorable Familia members a little treasure that allows them to escape at any time."

Lin Feng looked at Ryu patting her chest and letting out a sigh of relief. He leaned in and whispered to her ear.

"Ngh..."

Ryu was suddenly startled by Lin Feng's closeness—this was on the street! And he was the person Syr liked. This made her feel a conflicted sense of internal resistance, but she didn't have the courage to refuse.

She could only silently endure Lin Feng's friendly gesture for the time being.

....

"Lord... Lord Lin Feng, were you alright that day? If you had encountered any danger... I... I could have helped too."

As they were about to reach the tavern, Ryu, who hadn't spoken for several minutes along the way, suddenly said something easily misunderstood.

"I was fine... How do you know about that day?"

Lin Feng wasn't stupid; he naturally knew which day Ryu was referring to. He frowned and asked, as he didn't want to create any extra trouble.

"I... I was following your party that day. I wanted to see why you, a god, wanted to go into the Dungeon."

Mortals cannot lie in front of a god, so Ryu confessed her intentions and actions that day.

Understanding the context, Lin Feng looked intently at Ryu. Finally, he slowly extended his right hand and, under her surprised gaze, placed it on her head, gently stroking it back and forth.

Ryu felt the warmth and comfort transmitted from the large hand on her head, making her feel an involuntary urge to lean into him.

But Ryu desperately controlled her body, constantly reminding herself with two thoughts: He is the person Syr likes, and this is happening on the public street!

"Lord Lin Feng..."

"Apologies, I've gotten a bit too used to doing that with the children in my Familia."

Lin Feng noticed Ryu's slightly chilling, aqua-green eyes. He laughed awkwardly and reluctantly removed his hand from her adorable head.
