Inside the training camp of Chilsa VC, in a gym equipped with state of the art facilities. The gym was a riot of neon and metal,treadmill lined with pulse sensors, holo screens flickering stats in electric blue.
"Common boys, run faster, this finals is the most important highlight of your life." said coach Michael to 20 boys running on a treadmill at a speed of 32.3mph.
The boys were 16 years of age and had athletic builds far surpassing same age boys on Earth.
After a wonderful performance last season in the junior prime league in which they finished 4th on the league table, they were able to qualify for the arcane youth league by beating every other team and securing the last spot in the AYL( arcane youth league).
This season, they had a brilliant performance. They currently occupy the 2nd position in the league table, and they were also able to reach the finals in the arcane youth league.
This was wonderful considering the fact that the last time the U-17 Chilsa VC squad made it to the finals was 3 years ago.
The arcane youth league is the junior version of the most spectacular league in Euripo( a continent), the arcane grand league(AGL). It involves the top teams from the five big and only leagues in the world.
The five are; Prime league from the country of Emgand, Blitz league from Gamny, Super league from Spania, Lig One from Frans, Series A from Italey.
Clubs have to finish in top 3 in their leagues for them to qualify for the AGL, same goes for the AYL, which is the academy U-17 version. A total of 16 teams qualify for the knockouts stage.
Chilsa VC academy squad finished 4th last year which meant they had to compete against other teams from other leagues which also finished 4th for the last spot in the AYL.
The season is about to end and they occupy the 2nd position in the league table and reached the AYL finals. Everyone is praising them, the feat being a remarkable one. Only one obstacle lies in their way of being champions and that obstacle is VCMunchen, who they will play against in the finals.
"The club really is expecting a lot from us this time huh." said Oliver Grant, the captain, to Kael, the third highest scoring auralancer in the team.
"Of course they are, this is the finals we are talking about. If we manage to win we might get to join the senior team" Kael said.
"No chitchat, twenty more minutes to go. We need to focus on the goal ahead. After this, you all should go and have breakfast and then report to your personal physiotherapists."Coach Michael berated.
After breakfast came the private session, then in the afternoon an in-house friendly. Although the squad consists of 20 boys, only 10 make up the main team, the rest are substitutes.
The main squad auralancers are: Oliver Grant(captain), Samuel Bennett (2nd highest scorer), Kael Lyon, Henry Clarke, George Carter, Williams Brooks, James Walker, Thomas Hughes, Daniel Foster, Benjamin Walsh.
The substitutes are; Jacob Pierce, Ethan Marshall, Leo Whitham, Arthur Collins, Alexander Cole, Adam Spencer, Noah Harrington, Oscar Jennings, Harrison Doyle, Nathaniel Parker.
"Alright, Oscar, Henry, George, Williams, Noah, Nathaniel, Thomas, Samuel, Leo and Benjamin in team A. The rest of you in team B. This time we are aiming to finalize our formation and strategy against VCMunchen." Coach Michael instructed.
'How can you put the other two star players in team B and put me with these losers.' Samuel thought while looking at Oliver, his rival.
Oliver said "Coach, I suggest we all don't wear protective suits this time. This way we can practice like the senior team."
'What is this guy thinking.' Everyone was visibly annoyed.
"The protective suit is included in the U-17 tournaments for a reason, besides vitalis is too expensive to be wasted on training." Coach explained.
"I thought the club is willing to support us unconditionally this time, considering our performance this season. Haven't we proven ourselves worthy of the club's attention." Kael was clearly supporting his best friend, Oliver.
Oliver looked at him with gratitude. At least there was someone there to back him up on this.
"Alright, this match is postponed till tomorrow. I will talk to the manager and see what I can do to convince them." Coach assured them. He was going to meet up with the manager today anyways to report on the progress of the team.
"Coach, you need to try your best. We have at least 4 training matches ahead of us before the finals. We will need a lot of vitalis." Kael pushed for more.
"We will see about that." All the boys were visibly excited, even those that were upset at Oliver before.
"Great, with vitalis, even if we lose a limb, it will regenerate in a minute." Oliver was excited. There has been a lot of pressure on him lately for the team to deliver compulsorily."
They were all released and allowed to go on with their normal lifes. Samuel invited everyone to his house.
"Mancestor city vs Arson kicks off in two hours. Why don't we all watch it together in my house. My dad just recently bought a holopanel for 20k dellars. It has a holoscreen of 200inches."
Seventeen of them were not really interested except Kael and George. They got into Samuel's hovercraft, which is the latest Rolls Rolce. His dad bought it for him for 2million dellars. It even came with a private chauffeur.
