Chapter 40 - Resonance

Waking up, Visha expected to feel ashamed. 

She expected to wake up with her mind feeling the weight of the decision she made. She expected herself to be worried about what was to come. Her thoughts of leaving and wanting to go home seemed to have vanished.

Instead, in their place was a stillness. A feeling of connection she had never felt before. It hummed in the air. 

She lay between Uri and Xeno, the weight of them a reminder of last night. Xeno at her back and Uri in front. It felt...right.

A sense of satisfaction washed over her body. A keening growl left her lips.

You didn't fight me, it murmured.

I didn't want to, Visha replied.

She felt something settle in her soul. She could still talk to it, but she felt as though they were becoming one entity. She knew sooner or later, there might be a day she wouldn't hear that voice again.
