Chapter 11 - Meeting Jiang Nannan While Working

"Since you have no problem, then let's get started." The person in charge handed Shi Yu a pair of gloves and told him to go wash the dishes.

"Starting today?" Shi Yu asked in astonishment.

"Otherwise what?" the person in charge retorted.

"Then I need to eat a meal later. Dinner was supposed to be included," Shi Yu said, not wanting to be taken advantage of.

"Wash the dishes quickly," the manager said irritably.

"Oh, I'm sorry to have troubled you all," Shi Yu said apologetically to his hands.

After putting on gloves, I went to the dishwashing area, where several women were washing dishes and chatting.

Shi Yu's gaze was drawn to the woman washing dishes with her back to him; just by looking at her back and her hair, he knew she wasn't a middle-aged woman.

She has a slim waist, a perky bottom, and long, wavy blonde hair; even from behind, she looks like a beauty.

"Hello, aunties, my name is Shi Yu, I'm a new employee," Shi Yu greeted them as she entered.

The aunties all responded with a smile, "Hello," and invited Shi Yu to sit down and wash the dishes.

The woman who had been facing away from Shi Yu also turned her head to look at him.

Shi Yu passed by the woman and saw her clearly. He was amazed... She was so beautiful.

With fair skin, exquisite features, and a great figure even from behind, she would definitely be a campus goddess.

Shi Yu was amazed but didn't act like a pig; he simply appreciated the beauty, smiling and nodding to the woman as a greeting.

The girl responded politely with a slight smile.

"Why don't you sit next to Nan Nan? You're probably around the same age. People your age can get to know each other better and maybe even become good friends," an auntie suggested.

Shi Yu didn't mind sitting next to a beautiful woman.

"Wait... what's your name?" Shi Yu suddenly stopped halfway down, looking at the beautiful girl in surprise.

"Jiang Nannan, is there a problem?" The woman revealed her name and looked at Shi Yu with a hint of doubt.

Thinking back, I don't recall ever seeing this person before, but the person's reaction is as if they know me.

"No...no problem, I just thought the name sounded really good, I was amazed," Shi Yu casually added.

I sat down, feeling a little surprised. I didn't expect to run into Jiang Nannan here.

"Your name is also very nice," Jiang Nannan said politely.

Shi Yu smiled silently and got down to washing the dishes.

"Shi Yu, you're quite skilled at washing dishes," an auntie praised.

"I used to help my mom wash dishes a lot at home, and that's how it is," Shi Yu said.

The aunties asked, "Where do you live?" in a completely casual, conversational manner.

"This is a sad thing for me, I don't want to talk about it anymore," Shi Yu said, sounding somewhat downcast.

He has no home in this world, so he can't withstand a detailed discussion.

And then there's the fact that he really misses home. He came into this world so inexplicably, and his parents must be crying their eyes out when they find out he's gone.

Thinking about it now, my eyes are getting a little sore. I feel so sorry for my parents.

Seeing his sudden low spirits, the women exchanged glances, feeling somewhat guilty. Something terrible must have happened to the boy's family; his parents might not even be alive anymore.

Jiang Nannan thought so too, and felt some sympathy for Shi Yu, as her own family situation wasn't much better than Shi Yu's.

They were both people with tragic fates, so she could understand Shi Yu's feelings at that moment.

When her father passed away, she cried for three days and three nights, and even fainted from crying.

Later, my mother fell seriously ill, and I went through many heartbreaking things that I really can't bear to recall.

As Jiang Nannan thought about it, her mood also became depressed, and she felt inexplicably sad.

"Why do you two look like you're about to cry? No matter how bad things are, they shouldn't affect you now. You are members of Shrek Academy, with a bright future ahead of you. No amount of suffering will be overcome," an aunt said seriously.

Hearing these slightly philosophical words from the dishwashing lady was still a bit unsettling for Shi Yu.

"Auntie, you must be quite well-educated, why are you washing dishes?" Shi Yu suddenly joked.

"You brat, what does my education have to do with washing dishes?" The auntie made a move as if to hit him.

Shi Yu laughed and dodged, then quickly apologized and begged to be let go.

The other aunties and Jiang Nannan were amused, which immediately eased the atmosphere considerably.

"There are more bowls than people!" Shi Yu couldn't help but complain as he came out of the dishwashing room. He felt like he had washed hundreds of bowls.

Including those washed by others, at least four thousand dishes were washed, which was a huge workload.

"You won't be so tired after you take a few more showers," Jiang Nannan said, noticing that Shi Yu wasn't quite used to it.

"Poor me," Shi Yu shook her head, and seeing a group of aunties gathered there waiting for their meal, she followed Jiang Nannan over.

"Aunties, Jiang Nannan and I are still kids, it's not too much for each of us to eat two chicken drumsticks, right?" Shi Yu said, putting two chicken drumsticks on Jiang Nannan's plate and then taking two for himself.

"No need," Jiang Nannan said shyly, wanting to refuse.

Shi Yu was quick; he had already placed it on her plate, giving her no chance to refuse.

"I think you just want two chicken drumsticks, why did you bring Nannan along?" an aunt said irritably.

Shi Yu smiled and started eating the chicken leg. He felt he would be doing himself a disservice if he didn't eat a couple of chicken legs after washing so many dishes.

Jiang Nannan glanced at the chicken leg on her plate, then at Shi Yu who was happily eating, and started eating as well.

These aunties were very kind and took good care of Shi Yu and Jiang Nannan, constantly putting food on their plates.

Shi Yu initially accepted everything offered, but later, unable to eat any more, she quickly refused, saying, "Are you feeding Nan Nan and me like pigs?"

Jiang Nannan glanced at Shi Yu, feeling a little uncomfortable with this form of address.

Shi Yu was completely unaware that there was anything wrong with her words; they were just unintentional remarks, spoken casually as they came out.

Shi Yu and Jiang Nannan left the cafeteria together, Shi Yu patting his stomach contentedly; he had eaten a good meal.

"Senior Nan Nan, what are you going to do next?" Shi Yu asked.

"Why are you asking this?" Jiang Nannan countered.

"I was just thinking of taking a walk after I've eaten, and maybe explore the school to get to know the environment. But I'm new here and not familiar with the campus, so I was thinking of finding someone I know well to go with, so I can get to know the campus faster," Shi Yu said.

"It's okay if you have something to do, I can manage on my own." Jiang Nannan wanted to refuse, as she preferred to spend her free time cultivating.

However, considering that Shi Yu was also a pitiful person, she didn't have any ill feelings towards him, and even thought he was quite nice, so she nodded in agreement.

"Thank you for your help. I'll give you a few extra chicken legs at dinner tomorrow," Shi Yu said with an innocent smile.

"I'm not a pig, how could I possibly eat that much?" Jiang Nannan was amused.

The way the other person expressed their gratitude left her speechless.
