Chapter 31 - Losing Control

As soon as Isobel left my room, I was left in suffocating silence. I let out a sharp breath and raked my fingers through my hair to try to clear my head but I couldn't as my mother's words was still echoing in my mind like a broken recorder and it was haunting me.

I clenched my fists and turned away from the door. I had never felt so frustrated like this in my life, and I didn't know what to do about it. What the hell was I supposed to do?

My mother expected me to manipulate Isobel and to gain her trust just so we could use her but how was I supposed to do that when the mere thought of betraying her made me feel sick?

I was so frustrated and angry that I felt the urge to hit something or someone. To release my anger, I slammed my fist in the wall. The pain rushed up my arm, and I accepted it because that was what I wanted and that was what I deserved. I'd do anything to clear my mind and distract me from the mess that was going on in my head.
