Chapter 1 - Heir of shadows

Some people are often born rich or poor, strong or weak, with a family or some without, some have them all, some have none.

Though Victor had it all, not some, not more than most, He had it all.

Money? Endless

Looks? He could have been ranked in the top 10

Family? Amazing with boundless love

Women? Gorgeous loving girlfriend

And though he had everything a man could ask for, all good things must come to an end eventually, and that day came for him on his 25th birthday.

Everything had been fine at first; he spent time with his family, had a few drinks with friends afterwards, and decided to leave early to meet his girlfriend, Lila.

She was his everything. She had been the one to initiate things at first, but eventually, I was the one to fall head over heels for her. She was everything a person could want: caring, good with kids, loyal, and best of all, obsessed with me.

"See you later, guys. I'll catch up with you tomorrow. Remember, we are having a gaming night at my house. Don't be late" Victor shouted as he left

But as he began to leave, the same pain that had plagued him appeared again, though it didn't surprise him; it was a daily routine these days, or should I say years.

"Ugh"

"What the hell, why do I suddenly have a headache?" I cursed. The searing pain wasn't the first time this happened. Ever since I turned 20, I had been getting them at random times every day. I'd visit all sorts of doctors, but they found nothing. But they had been convinced I was lying.

"Bastards, not again. Why is it extra-worst today? It's supposed to be a good day, damn it." I seriously couldn't fathom why it was happening. It was consistent and unforgiving. I'd really begun to believe that some mean god had a grudge for some reason his mortal brain couldn't begin to understand.

Without a care for the people walking past, Victor shouted at the top of his voice, "Whichever mystical god out there is targeting me fu-"

"ARGH"

As if the word was waiting for my command, the pain intensified, and I would have already keeled over if not for my sheer willpower.

Then, without warning, my vision blurred, I staggered, and began gasping for air as if the air had been ripped out of my lungs, as I finally came to a stop, clutching my chest. Everything stopped, and finally, my consciousness faded into absolute nothingness with one last lingering thought.

'So this is how I die, not so heroic, I must say I'm slightly disappointed'
