Xie Fang paused when he heard the man address him by the formal title. It took him a moment to realise he had made a mistake in an emotional state.
The tips of his ears turned red, embarrassment and disappointment mixed in his eyes. He gently pushed the Regent away, creating distance between them once more.
"Forgive my insolent behaviour, Lord Regent," he said quietly. "I was overwhelmed by emotions and caused you inconvenience."
Li Chang was confused at suddenly being pushed away. His hand, which had been caressing Xie Fang's hair, felt strangely empty. Before he could gather his thoughts, the Prince had apologized, returning to his former distant self.
"It's alright, Your Highness." He pursed his lips. "You don't have to apologise to this minister." Li Chang gave a polite smile, his hand curled into a fist behind his back.
