Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

Luca's POV

I don't know why I get this giddy feeling about her, the very person who is supposed to wipe us all out. I had the chance to kill her when she was alone in the woods, but why did I put her to sleep and bring her to my own pack, to my castle instead? I am known as the prince of the seven realms, alpha and millennium wolf of the Blood Moon Pack, Luca Drucan.

I am feared by many because I am the strongest of our kind. I have never felt threatened by anyone, despite the hidden fear of the dark lord gaining control. Aside from that, there was this energy I felt radiating from this girl. I stared at her sleeping self; she looked so cute with her brown wavy hair and Barbie-pink lips. I couldn't believe I was thinking such things about her.

I was still staring at her when some of the pack members, and of course my friends, walked into the chamber. Although I am feared by all, I still have people I inwardly care about. The first to walk in was Xavier. He has been my beta for centuries and my personal spy. Between us, Xavier is my best friend and the brother I never had. I had sent him as a spy to keep an eye on the child.

"Luca, alpha of the Blood Moon Pack and prince of the seven realms, the High Council has summoned thee, charged with harboring a fugitive, a child destined to wipe us all. They await you, my lord, at the gathering ground where trials are held," he said with a bow.

"Fucking councils. What do they want with her? How are we even sure of the prophecy? What if she's the one meant to save us?" I asked, staring at no one in particular.

"Don't tell me you doubt the prophecy that has haunted us for centuries. What's so special about her anyway? She's just a weakling, a mere human. I don't even know how she'll be capable of such impending doom," Sabrina said.

I just glared at her. I didn't even like her, but I found myself dating her. Convenience is the right word for this. I don't even have a mate now, so I'm just with her for convenience and to satisfy my desires.

"So what now?" Althea asked.

"The council is definitely going to want to kill her," Xavier said again.

"I'll face the council, and they dare not try anything funny," I replied.

"Darling, the girl is not our problem. Why the sudden interest in her?" Sabrina asked.

"She is not your concern. Neither is my intention toward her yours. Stop pestering me!" I said, glowing my eyes at her.

"Well, what do we tell her when she wakes?" Quinn said, staring at me.

"Nothing. Don't let her leave the room till I get back. Give her whatever she wants. Xavier, I'm sure you'll be the person she wants to see when she wakes up," I said and disappeared into the air.

I arrived at the trial ground to be met with members of my pack, neighboring packs, vampires, witches, and the likes. I looked up to see the council, the same council that has ruled our realms for centuries, even before I was born. I am immortal, but the council has this divine aura like angels. Yet, behind their glorious and divine look were pure evil and wicked intentions.

They claim to protect the supernaturals, to balance the realms, to keep our existence hidden from humans, but they do all this by shedding the blood of the innocent, wiping out packs, and claiming it is necessary to save us from our impending doom.

Ophelia, the High Priestess and fiercest among them, looked like a mere teenager. Aurora, the second in command, was responsible for passing out death sentences, especially the ones that wiped out entire realms. Xyna, the third in command, was fierce and cold. She was the only witch among the council.

I took a bow as a sign of respect, even if I didn't really care about the council.

"Luca, prince of the seven realms, alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, it has come to our knowledge that thou harbor a fugitive, a child whose life we have sought for years, a cursed us-ka-ak who has been destined to bring our end. Is this true?" they thundered together. It was as if they spoke from the same mind, and I heard a thousand voices.

"High Priestess, great council, I harbor no fugitive," I simply replied.

"You dare lie to the supernatural council!" Xyna thundered. I remained unmoved.

"We got this information from a very reliable source," Aurora added. I gritted my teeth. Sabrina. It had to be that cunning witch.

"Prepare the child. The trial of Caullidora Moretz begins tonight," they proclaimed.

"How are we sure she's Caullidora? She's just a mere human," I retorted.

"Do you question the council?" Ophelia asked. I shook my head in opposition. The judgment of the council was final. There was nothing I could do. What if I was harboring the child destined for my destruction? I didn't know her name, but she sounded really weak, and I doubted she was the reincarnation of Caullidora Moretz. But what if she was?

Lyra's POV

I opened my eyes slowly and tried to register where I was and how I got here. This was most definitely not my room. I sat up to be met with five strange-looking faces staring at me, but one looked familiar.

Oh my gosh, Xavier! I exclaimed as I stretched myself and sat up. It felt like I had been sleeping for days. "How did you… how did I… what the hell is going on?" I asked in a frenzy. "And who the hell are these people?" I said again, looking confused.

"All I remember is Aunt Sasha's sudden death, me running into the woods, and those hypnotic red eyes ordering me to sleep," I said in one breath.

"Whoa, calm down, lady," one of the girls said.

"I'm pretty sure Luca came to her in his wolf form," a guy said, smirking.

I only got more confused. Who the hell was Luca, and did I just hear wolf? I thought. It must be those voices in my head, I said to myself. I needed an explanation, and I stared at everyone in the room with eyes that said, "Will y'all introduce yourselves already and provide me with a meaningful explanation?"

Just then, Xavier cleared his throat to break the surprisingly weird silence and make eye contact.

"Look, Lyra, there's a lot you need to know, just as I said the other day," he paused and continued. "You've never really believed in the supernatural, but I think it's high time you did. Maybe you knew, but didn't want to believe. Aunt Sasha… you've been with her for years. What the hell sounds normal about her?" he said.

"Look, I know this might sound strange to you, but you're…" he was about to say something when someone appeared in the room.

I gasped. He was tall, gorgeous, with eyes like fire and a dark aura I couldn't fathom. He looked like a Greek god. Honestly, everyone in the room looked like Greek gods and goddesses. I should have been shocked at the fact that he literally appeared in the room, but I had seen Aunt Sasha disappear the same way that day. Maybe he was a fortune teller, I thought, or so I wanted to believe.

"Does she realize she's drooling right now?" the guy who smirked earlier said. I bit my lips, looking away.

"The council has summoned her for the trial of Caullidora Mo

retz tonight," the Greek god said.

I shook my head in confusion. "What trial?"
