Chapter 7 - Chapter 8 I've seen this before

The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves.

"This place is seriously creepy," Bella whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of the wind.

"I told you it wasn't a good idea," Stacy said, her voice laced with a mixture of fear and warning.

But we were undeterred, our curiosity and excitement propelling us forward. We grabbed our belongings and stepped into the darkness of the woods, the trees seeming to swallow us whole.

"Oppra, where are we now?" I asked, scanning our surroundings.

Oppra studied the map on her phone. "According to this, we're standing at the entrance to her chamber, but there's nothing here except dried fallen leaves and towering trees."

Bella's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Don't you think there might be a secret entrance? Maybe we need to cast some sort of spell to reveal the gate."

As she spoke, a fragment of a poem my mother used to recite to me surfaced in my mind. "The gates swing wide, a pathway clear

A threshold beckons, come near

The entrance opens, dark and wide

A mystery awaits, step inside"

As the words left my lips, the air seemed to shimmer and a mansion materialized before us. The imposing structure was painted black, with intricate carvings of tree branches and crests adorning its facade. Vultures perched atop the mansion's walls, their beady eyes watching us with an unnerving intensity.

Rain poured down around the mansion, creating a surreal atmosphere. Thunder boomed inside, illuminating the dark interior through a gaping hole in the roof. The bolt of lightning that followed seemed to spear through the opening, casting an eerie glow over the scene.

As we approached, a massive door swung open, its design reminiscent of ancient Egyptian architecture. The door's surface was adorned with mysterious symbols and markings that seemed to pulse with a malevolent energy.

The mansion's appearance was both ominous and fascinating, exuding an aura of foreboding and dread. The black walls seemed to absorb the light around us, making the air feel thick and heavy. The vultures watched us with an unblinking gaze, their presence adding to the sense of unease that settled over us.

As we stepped through the gates, they slammed shut behind us with a deafening clang. Before us stood an imposing, ancient throne, its design a fusion of macabre elegance and dark mysticism. The throne's skeletal headpiece seemed to leer at us, shrouded in a tattered, black veil that billowed ominously in the flickering torchlight. The air was heavy with the weight of centuries, and the mansion's interior seemed to stretch and expand before us like a labyrinthine abyss.

The walls were adorned with ancient writings, their cryptic symbols etched into the stone like a forgotten language. Statues of mythical creatures knelt in reverence before the throne, their stone eyes seeming to watch us with cold, calculating intensity. Every step echoed through the cavernous space, making me feel like I was trapped in a waking nightmare. Everything felt hauntingly familiar, as if my memories were trying to surface from the depths of my mind.

Suddenly, Kelvin's voice cut through the oppressive silence, his words laced with fear. "Guys, did you hear that?" he whispered, his grip on my arm tightening.

Stacy's voice trembled as she urged, "Yeah, I think we should leave now."

But it was too late. A low, throaty laughter echoed through the mansion, sending shivers down my spine. The sound was like nothing I'd ever heard before – it was both beautiful and terrifying, all at once.

"We need to go, now!" Bella exclaimed, her voice shrill with panic.

But I was frozen in place, my eyes fixed on the throne. "The door is locked!" I shouted, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own heartbeat.

The laughter grew louder, more maniacal, and then a voice spoke, its tone dripping with malice. "Idiots, I'll give you a second chance to live, because the time hasn't come for my queen to rise. Aria, dear, I know you'll come back soon, and I'll be waiting for you, darling."

The gates creaked open with a dreadful screech, and my friends sprinted out of the mansion, their panicked footsteps echoing through the halls. But I stood rooted to the spot, my curiosity getting the better of me.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice firm despite the fear that threatened to consume me.

The voice laughed again, the sound sending shivers down my spine. "You will know, sooner... sooner... sooner..."

The last word seemed to hang in the air, echoing through my mind as I turned to flee. We burst out of the mansion, piling into the car and speeding away from the terror that lurked within those ancient walls.
