Togata walks out of school beside other students all eager to get home.
''I'll head to work, you can go home and work on the UFO if you can, don't worry I wouldn't burden you with staying hidden for hours''. Togata says with a smile.
''You know me too well young master''. Tick says.
Togata smiles. ''Of course I...''.
Suddenly he stops walking.
Students walk past him somehow not noticing.
His pupils dilate as he stands there and exhales, his breath frozen.
''Young master?''. Tick asks.
Suddenly time seems to freeze as everyone stops moving.
Tick materializes as he checks Togata, still unmoving.
''What manner of witchcraft could be causing this?''. Tick asks.
Suddenly Togata looks around, somewhat confused, his pupils still wide.
Then he stops, suddenly a clock begins to tick as digital countdowns appear on the heads of everyone around him with incredibly high numbers.
He snaps out of the trance as time resumes, Tick hides immediately.
Togata strains holding his head. ''What the....''.
''Young master, we are still in public do compose yourself''. Tick reminds.
Togata walks off to another area away from sight as he looks around his eyes glowing blue. ''What just happened?''.
''I do not know, but look''. Tick materializes as he replies pointing at the students passing by. ''Timers of some sort, counting down...Do you maybe think this is one of Death's powers manifesting itself?''.
''Most probably...And I think I know why...''. Togata says as he walks off rejoining the crowd as Tick de-materializes out of sight.
''We just finished our first 'hit' when we defeated the music paintings, could this be why I got a upgrade?''. Togata asks.
''I concur,...Some sort of eyes of Death, allowing you to see the time people have left...Wait young master your hair!''. Tick warns.
Togata hair turns white incredibly quickly as he shakes his head. His eyes go back to their normal color as the timers disappear.
''And it seems to take life force as well...How peculiar''. Tick says.
Togata sighs. ''Weird per usual...But...This time, it seems to be actually useful''.
''Will you be alright young master?''. Tick asks.
''I'll be fine, head home''. Togata says.
''Enjoy your day''. Tick says as he flies off.
Elsewhere a woman with long black hair ties it neatly in a bun as she dresses in a white shirt and black skirt as she cleans her house thoroughly as she rushes around. She enters a bright pink room packing food and clothing into a bag as she rushes outwards.
An alarm sounds, screeching through the house as she runs out to off it. The clock reads 8:20.
''Shit...I woke up way too late...I won't get there on time!''. The woman rushes as she tries to lock the door of her apartment but drops her keys. ''Dammit!''.
She picks them up, locks the door and rushes outside the building waving a hand. ''Taxi! Taxi!''.
A car stops as she enters. ''Straight to Kamigoe state hospital and step on it!''.
''On it miss''. The taxi driver replies.
When they arrive she basically throws money at him as she rushes inside the hospital.
''Miss!?''. The taxi driver shouts.
''Keep the change! I'll be right back!''. The lady shouts back.
She rushes into the hospital straight past the front desk and into a room.
''Mommy''. A girl says excitedly but weakly as the lady rushes to her.
The lady kisses the girl on the forehead. ''Morning sweetie...How do you feel?''.
The girl smiles lightly. ''Better....But''.
The lady sighs unpacking the parcels. ''I know...I know...Here's your breakfast, lunch and dinner because I'm working late tonight...I have to go to work, I'm already late''.
The lady immediately tries to leave but the girl holds her. ''Mommy...So quickly?''.
The lady looks at her and holds back tears. ''I know...Be strong for mommy ok? I know you can...''.
''Yes mommy''. The girl replies.
''And listen to the nice doctors alright dear?''. The lady says giving the girl another kiss before running out of the room.
''Yes mommy!''. The girl shouts back.
Suddenly a doctor comes forward stopping her outside the room. ''Miss Suzuki, please wait...I'm sorry to tell you this especially within our current circumstances but...The hospital bill must be paid before we can continue to administer treatment to your little girl''.
''I'll pay as soon as I can''. The lady replies.
''Miss this is urgent I recommend you pay before tonight or else they might leave her to die...My apologies once again''. The doctor says.
The lady doesn't reply as she rushes out of the hospital and hops back into the taxi she took earlier.
''Where to now miss?''. The driver asks.
''Take me to Kamigoe civil, that's where I work''. The lady replies.
''And step on it?''. The driver asks.
''Yeah''. The lady replies with a smile.
When she arrives she rushes inside once again past the front desk.
''Miyu! You're late again''. A lady at the front desk shouts as Miyu runs past.
''I know, I'll take an extra shift!''. Miyu replies.
She rushes up the stairs and sits at a desk in front of an office room.
A man bursts out immediately. ''Miyu...Late''.
''Sorry sir I'll take another shift''. Miyu replies.
The man sighs. ''She's still sick?''.
''Yes sir''. Miyu replies.
The man sighs again as he walks over. ''You know...I can lend you the money if you want...All you need to do is accept my terms''. He runs a hand over her back lower and lower.
''I'm fine sir''. Miyu replies.
''You know I'm fond of you Miyu, we've worked together for years, but''. The man continues going lower.
Miyu slaps his hand away. ''This could be harassment sir''.
''Yeah...To hell with you anyway! We have a business dinner at 9, don't be late and you've got some paperwork to do!''. The man replies angrily slamming papers onto her desk. ''Some PA you are''.
''I'll work on it immediately''. Miyu replies.
''You better!''. The man shouts.
Miyu sighs as she starts on the work, the day passing but she remains unmoving at her desk until nightfall.
''Time to go, when we arrive laugh no matter what they say and do whatever they tell you! This is a big opportunity for this company!''. The man says.
Miyu nods as she packs her table and the two enter a luxurious black car arriving at a fancy restaurant.
They enter to see four men seated around the table in black suits and ties.
''Mr Ito, so pleased to finally meet you''. A man says.
''Likewise, so let's get straight to business shall we boys?''. Ito laughs seating.
''And who's this beauty?''. Another man at the table asks.
''My assistant, miss Miyu Suzuki''. Ito replies.
''Well if we weren't on strict business I'd invite you for a drink miss Miyu...''. The man comments.
''Thank you sir...''. Miyu says faking a smile as she brings out documents.
''Damn bastards''. Miyu sighs to herself.
The men talk for about an hour, joking, making inappropriate remarks towards Miyu and drinking, encouraging Miyu to drink as well. When they're done they can barely stand wasted as they laugh.
They leave as her drunk boss tells her to ride home with him. Miyu slightly tipsy refuses as she leaves immediately walking.
She stares up at the night sky thinking as she sighs. ''I'm Miyu Suzuki, and my life is shit...My boss is a drunk sexist and my daughter is ill with a sickness that doctors can't seem to diagnose...Back there we had a meeting and all those idiots were wasted, in the business world it means it went well...I wish I could quit my job!''. She sighs as she stops walking.
She starts walking as she sways from side to side. ''Ugh but.....I probably shouldn't have drank as much as I did!''. She sighs as she stumbles across the streets, people laugh and point.
As she walks some guys bump into her before turning around to laugh at her stumbling.
''What's so funny huh!? Never seen a hard working lady before!?''. Miyu shouts back.
''Yeah, I'm sure you've been hard at work elsewhere, you dumb bitch''. A man says as he and his friends laugh.
She walks away from them angry. ''GRRRR''.
Then she hears a ding on her phone as she checks it, it's the hospital sending her this weeks bill for the tests they ran on her daughter and the test results say no confirmed diagnosis.
She stares at it before holding back tears as she switches off her phone and continues walking.
Meanwhile Togata heads for the exit of a building, but walks through a scanner and passes through high level security as they frisk him and give him back his phone.
He exits the building as someone follows him.
''Goodnight Mr Toriyama''. The man says yawning.
''Yeah same to you...''. Togata replies stretching before walking out.
He switches on his phone as he walks checking on his messages. Tick sent him some pictures of him and Vamola pouring a tub of water on Turbo Granny as she chases them
Togata lets out a small laugh as he keeps walking before putting the phone back into his pocket walking through the partly crowded streets.
''This new power...I'm pretty sure Death didn't give it to me as a good work kid type of gift''. Togata thinks. ''There are probably checkpoints or something to unlock these abilities, it seems Death's power merged with Tick's somehow to create a kind of Death sense, I guess it shows how much time someone has left...It's different from the halo's...They tell me who I have to kill as soon as possible...I should probably figure out how to use it...''.
Togata taps his head with two fingers. ''What the hell am I doing? I must look so stupid...How do I turn this thing on though...''.
Togata focuses as his eyes turn blue and he opens them. Heads everywhere have a timer with an incredibly high number suspended over them as he watches.
Togata calculates one as 12 or so years another very high number on a man's head directly reads 525 600:00:00, as it ticks down to 525 599:59:50
''Divide by 60...That should be 60 or so years''. Togata thinks as he calculates. ''Guess they have a lot of time left''. Togata says with a smile.
But as he walks by he sees a woman stumbling in front of him and over her head is suspended the same timer but with shockingly low time. 00:00:30.
''30 Seconds!?''. Togata thinks to himself watching her closely as he stops moving.
The lady walks down the street as she is about to cross.
''Wait is she actually about to...Right here?!''. Togata watches worried as he thinks.
She waits for a bit before proceeding to cross but gets impatient and crosses anyway.
''Hey miss it's not green yet!''. A man calls out warning.
Togata's mind races on what to do. ''I mean...It shows me when people are going to die...Maybe it's from a heart attack or an unseen internal issue that I can't do anything about...But what if...''.
Suddenly a truck rushes towards the lady as Togata immediately rushes forward to help.
''But if there's something I can do! I will! 2x''. Togata shouts to himself as he grabs the lady out of the way safely onto the sidewalk.
''Miss...Are you alright?''. Togata asks immediately de-transforming before anyone can notice.
The lady stares at him then at the truck passing by quickly as people gasp and cheer.
''I...I...''. The lady stammers.
