Chapter 3 - THE MEETING

Wale's eyes adjusted to the dim light as he entered the room. The figure standing by the window turned to face him, a hint of a smile on their face.

"Ah, Wale," they said, their voice low and smooth. "I've been expecting you."

Wale's eyes narrowed as he took in the figure's features. It was a man, tall and lean, with piercing green eyes that seemed to bore into Wale's soul.

"Who are you?" Wale asked, his hand resting on the gun at his side.

The man chuckled, a low, throaty sound. "My name is Akande," he said. "And I've been watching you, Wale. I know what you're looking for, and I can help you get it."

Wale's eyes locked onto Akande's, searching for any sign of deception. But all he saw was a calm, calculating gaze that seemed to be sizing him up.

"What do you want?" Wale asked, his voice firm.

Akande's smile grew wider. "I want to make a deal," he said. "One that will give you what you want, and give me what I need."

Wale's mind was racing. What could Akande possibly offer him? And what did he want in return?

"I'm listening," Wale said, his eyes never leaving Akande's face.

Akande nodded, a small, satisfied smile on his face. "I know where The Butcher is hiding," he said. "And I'm willing to give you the location... for a price."

Wale's heart skipped a beat. This was what he had been searching for. But at what cost?

"What do you want?" Wale repeated, his voice low and menacing.

Akande's eyes glinted with amusement. "I want you to do a job for me," he said. "One that requires your... particular skills."

Wale's eyes locked onto Akande's, his mind racing with possibilities. What kind of job could Akande possibly want him to do? And what did it have to do with The Butcher?

Akande's smile grew wider, as if he could read Wale's thoughts. "I want you to infiltrate a high-stakes poker game," he said, his voice low and smooth. "One that's being hosted by a wealthy businessman, who's a close associate of The Butcher's."

Wale's eyes narrowed. He had done his fair share of undercover work, but this sounded like a recipe for disaster.

"What makes you think I can get in?" Wale asked, his voice skeptical.

Akande chuckled. "I've seen your file, Wale," he said. "You're a skilled operative, with a talent for deception. And I've made sure that you're on the guest list."

Wale's mind was racing. What was the catch? And what did Akande want him to do once he got inside?

"What's the objective?" Wale asked, his voice firm.

Akande's expression turned serious. "I want you to take down the businessman," he said. "Make sure he loses big, and The Butcher loses his investment."

Wale's eyes widened. This was a high-risk, high-reward operation. If he got caught, he'd be dead. But if he succeeded...

He looked at Akande, his eyes searching for any sign of deception. But all he saw was a calm, calculating gaze that seemed to be weighing the pros and cons.

"What's in it for me?" Wale asked, his voice low and menacing.

Akande's smile grew wider. "I'll give you The Butcher's location," he said. "And I'll make sure you're well-compensated for your trouble."

Wale's mind was racing. This was a risk, but it was one he was willing to take.

"Okay," he said, his voice firm. "I'm in."

Akande nodded, a small, satisfied smile on his face. "I knew I could count on you, Wale," he said. "You'll receive the details of the game tonight. Be ready to move at a moment's notice."

Wale nodded, his eyes never leaving Akande's face. He knew he was taking a risk, but he was ready for whatever came next.

As he turned to leave, Akande's voice stopped him. "One more thing, Wale," he said. "Be careful. The Butcher's associates are not to be underestimated."

Wale nodded, his hand on the door handle. He knew the risks. And he was ready to take them.

He left the room, his mind racing with possibilities. The game was on, and he was ready to play.

As he walked out into the night, Wale couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. He glanced around, his eyes scanning the shadows. But all he saw was the darkness.

He knew he had to be careful. The stakes were high, and one wrong move could cost him everything.

He hailed a taxi, his mind racing with the details of the game. He had a lot to prepare for, and not much time to do it.

As the taxi pulled up, Wale got in, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He was ready for whatever came next.

The game was on, and he was all in.

The city rushed past him, a blur of lights and sounds. Wale's mind was focused on the task at hand. He knew he had to be sharp, if he was going to pull this off.

The taxi dropped him off at his apartment, and Wale got out, his eyes scanning the surroundings. All clear.

He went inside, his mind racing with the details of the game. He had a lot to prepare for, and not much time to do it.

As he changed into his suit, Wale couldn't shake the feeling that he was walking into a trap. But he knew he had to see it through.

He took a deep breath, and headed out the door. The game was on, and he was ready to play.

He arrived at the venue, a luxurious penthouse apartment overlooking the city. Wale's eyes scanned the room, taking in the high-stakes players and the beautiful women.

He spotted the businessman, a tall, thin man with a pompous expression. Wale knew he had to get close, if he was going to pull this off.

He made his way through the crowd, his eyes locked on the businessman. The game was about to begin, and he was ready to make his move.

As he took his seat at the table, Wale felt a sense of calm wash over him. He was in control, and he knew exactly what to do.

The game began, and Wale started to play. He was on fire, his skills and experience guiding him through the game.

But as the night wore on, Wale began to feel a sense of unease. Something wasn't right.

He glanced around the room, his eyes scanning the faces of the players. And that's when he saw her.

Maya, standing in the shadows, her eyes locked on his.

Wale's heart skipped a beat. What was she doing here?

And what did she want?
