Chapter 45 - The Revenge Begins – Castle Assault

Serana was a tender, captivating flower, delicate and alluring, just on the verge of blooming. Zhou Yi yearned to spend such an evening with such a lovely girl. Alas, it was not the time.

Tonight was destined to be a busy one, not for the billionaire Zhou Yi, but for the superhero Dawn Knight.

Just as he had agreed with Chadnoma, the vampire empire was destined to fall before the next dawn. If not by Chadnoma's hand, then by his own. He would not allow a vampire duke, who could potentially research new monsters, to exist in this world, especially after the duke had once plotted against him.

After bidding farewell to Serana, he persuaded her to stay safely in their new home. Zhou Yi once again transformed into the Dawn Knight, flying through the night towards the vampires' lair. He had to monitor the entire event; it was a serious matter, as any slight mistake could have a huge impact on human society.

Although there was the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division as a defense against supernatural events, to be honest, Zhou Yi didn't trust those guys. To go further, he didn't trust any organization associated with bureaucracy, no matter how good they sounded in theory.

As soon as darkness fell, he moved under the cover of the night. However, he didn't appear at the castle of the great Makinos. Instead, he stood atop a skyscraper. For him, how the vampires and Hybrids fought didn't matter much. He only needed to ensure that no humans were involved at the beginning of the battle and that he could clean up afterward.

So, he quietly watched from this vantage point. He watched Chadnoma and his Hybrids' every move until they entered the arena for the performance. He had long considered that place the center of the show, where the prince's revenge would be staged.

Chadnoma, eager to perform his revenge, didn't keep Zhou Yi waiting for long. As the crowds on the streets thinned, they began their move. Perhaps due to restraints from Chadnoma, this group of Hybrids was unusually well-behaved. They clung to walls or moved in shadows on the streets. Hundreds of Hybrids moved without drawing any human attention. This surprised Zhou Yi and made him even more convinced that he had made the right decision.

Hybrids... they can't live to see tomorrow's sunrise.

But something's odd. Blade hasn't shown up. Knowing that guy, if he says he'll do something, he usually does. Unless something unexpected happened. A shadow crossed Zhou Yi's eyes. This incident wasn't as simple as it seemed.

But there was no time to look for Blade. The current situation was more important. He focused on the Hybrids' movements, making sure they were all heading toward the battlefield.

Chadnoma led the Hybrids, moving at a speed unimaginable for ordinary people. They crossed streets and alleys. Almost nothing could stop them. Like a pale tide, they surged forward with unstoppable momentum, crashing toward the vampires' castle.

This was a scene Chadnoma had envisioned for many years. Revenge, that sweet word flowed through his blood, easing the pain in his body. He'd survived all these years by clinging to this fantasy, and now, the moment of its realization was at hand. He couldn't wait, couldn't wait to embrace his father.

Under the Hybrids' tireless charge, they soon arrived before the vampires' castle. The stern guards couldn't scare Chadnoma, whose heart was filled with revenge, nor could they deter the bloodthirsty Hybrid army.

Examining the castle carefully, Chadnoma smirked.

"Still no changes, Father. You're too confident." As soon as he spoke, he waved his hand. The Hybrid army immediately surged forward like a tide, attacking the castle.

The vampires' defenses were undeniably formidable, but the degree of their strength depended on the enemy they faced. For humans and vampires, the six or seven-meter-high factory walls and the dense network of patrolling personnel were usually enough to handle any threat.

The walls could hold back attacks, and the patrol's firepower could inflict fatal damage on most enemies.

But they hadn't anticipated this kind of opponent. Hybrids were far more difficult to deal with than humans or vampires. The walls didn't hinder them; in fact, they concealed their movements. When they climbed the walls in the shadows, a successful raid was already inevitable.

The vampires were completely unprepared for the sudden attack. When the Hybrids swarmed over the walls, overpowering the patrolling guards and pouring into the factory, Zhou Yi knew the vampires' end had come.

And just as Zhou Yi had predicted, the vampires were taken by surprise by the Hybrids' attack. Even the instigator of everything, the vampire grand duke Makinos, was taken aback. Upon hearing the news of the Hybrids' assault, he seemed stunned.

Perhaps in his eyes, his son was already a useless failure. A failure should quietly crawl into the trash and live out his days, rather than return to his master and continue to pester him.

But Chadnoma, the failure, had returned, and he had returned as a vengeful figure. This made Grand Duke Makinos more than just surprised; a fire began to burn within him. Perhaps it was guilt, but more than anything, it was hatred and rage.

He would not allow anyone to shake his rule, not even his own son.

Looking at the Blood Clan Guard assembled before him at the sound of the alarm, Makinos indifferently issued his orders.

"Blood Clan Guards, defend the castle and kill all the invaders. Also, bring me the head of their leader." At this moment, he no longer considered Chadnoma his son, or rather, it had been that way for a long time. Just like an aging Mighty Lion clinging to its position of power, he didn't acknowledge Chadnoma's existence. In his eyes, Chadnoma was merely a rebel about to usurp his throne.

Secluded within the heavily guarded castle, and having only encountered information about Hybrids in reports, Makinos had never actually come into contact with them. He had no idea how ridiculous the order he'd just given was.

The Blood Clan Guard's faces fell upon hearing his command. Having already fought the Hybrids, they knew how formidable they were. They might handle a dozen or twenty of them, but the alarm indicated hundreds of Hybrids were present. Going up there would be a suicide mission.

No one wanted to die, even if it was at the command of the vampire duke. Rehart was the first to voice his thoughts.

"Boss, those guys are tough. We're too few to take them on."

This was the Blood Clan Guard's first act of defiance against Makinos's orders. The priest's death had undoubtedly caused them to question the vampire duke's authority.

The Blood Clan Guard's defiance was something the vampire duke hadn't anticipated at all. He wanted to reprimand these so-called elite warriors, but he didn't. He knew these guys would be his last line of defense, and he wouldn't cripple himself before he was truly safe.

So, he changed his approach and spoke to the Blood Clan Guard.

"Issue the order. Activate the castle's defense system. Don't worry about anyone else's lives. Seal all entrances and defend this place. Don't let a single one of them in." He glanced at his daughter, who hadn't spoken since they returned. "Also, prepare for evacuation."

This order was clearly more feasible, and the Blood Clan Guard immediately began to operate in an orderly fashion. Rehart began contacting the guards in the castle, ordering them to activate defense measures and close all entrances. Chuba, along with Light Axe and Vileen, began searching the castle, making sure no Hybrids had infiltrated.

The Snowman, who had the strongest combat ability, was specifically assigned by Makinos to stay by his side. He needed this combat strength to protect himself at the most critical moment.

And just as Makinos was sealing the castle entrances, the factory on the ground had been completely occupied by the Hybrids. The large group of guards couldn't stop the Hybrids, who surged in like a tide. They would only be submerged by the tide, then become new Hybrids.

Faced with the Hybrids, who resembled Yaos, were stronger, and faster, these guards couldn't even escape. In less than half an hour, the Hybrids had completed the clearing of the factory.

Under the support of the Hybrids, Chadnoma walked into the hall, step by step, towards the underground entrance. Looking at the rotating camera lenses, Chadnoma revealed a happy smile. He said to the camera.

"I'm coming for you, Father. Wait for me to come to you."

Hearing Chadnoma's words, Makinos, who had been monitoring his every move, visibly showed a look of anger on his face. He waved his hand. The vampires, who had been waiting for orders, immediately pressed the buttons in their hands.

Immediately, rows and rows of spotlights extended from the ceiling. Seeing this, Chadnoma felt a sense of unease. He quickly picked up the guns on the ground and began to fire at the spotlights.

But he had too little time; in such a short period, he only managed to shatter a small portion of them. The rest had already begun to emit light.

Purple rays of light swept across the hall in waves. Any Hybrids that were hit by the light were ignited like torches. They burned with exceptional brilliance, the blue flames even more dazzling than the purple lights. However, this only made Chadnoma's heart grow cold.

In just a moment, most of the Hybrids around him had been annihilated. Only a small number, standing under the lights he had shattered, managed to survive by a stroke of luck.

Just as he had said, Hybrids weren't perfect creatures. Under ultraviolet light, they were even more fragile than vampires.

However, such casualties didn't stop Chadnoma's advance. As long as he could have his revenge, sacrificing everything was worth it. For him, he had waited for a very, very long time, so long that he couldn't wait any longer. Today, he had to settle the score. He would bet everything.
