Chapter 127 - The Base is Breached, Phoenix Advances

Logan and Yuriko were locked in a fierce, brutal battle within the iron walls, while Wanda and Psylocke exchanged blows in mid-air, employing all sorts of strange and unpredictable techniques.

As for Zhou Yi, the center of the event, he was unusually quiet. He neither aided his teammates nor unleashed a thunderous attack on his enemies. He just floated motionless in the air, like a mere decoration.

And this very state was precisely what Logan and Wanda were most unwilling to see. Because they knew that the reason he was like this wasn't because he was shirking his duties, but because he was facing the most terrifying mental attack in the world.

Professor Charles, along with Master Illusion Jason, such a mental attack was enough to make every strong person in the world feel fear. Even Scarlet Witch Wanda, who stood at the top of the mutant hierarchy and could resist Professor Charles's mental attacks, couldn't guarantee her safety under such a combined assault. Therefore, the crisis Zhou Yi was in was entirely imaginable.

They worried that Professor Charles and the Master Illusion would join forces to kill the most powerful hero in the world. At the same time, they were even more worried that Dawn Knight would lose his will during their mental intrusion and become a pawn in Stryker's hands.

The first situation would make them sad, while the second would put their lives in danger. And no matter which one, they didn't want to accept it. So they were fighting desperately, hoping to save Zhou Yi before all this happened. They were also praying in their hearts, hoping that Dawn Knight could hold on for a little longer.

And at this moment, in Zhou Yi's mental world. His situation was indeed extremely critical. He was experiencing an illusion he had never experienced before.

He opened his eyes and found himself lying in a room filled with the smell of disinfectant. The white ceiling above him and the dripping instruments beside him told him that he was in a hospital ward.

He wanted to stand up, but all he felt from his limbs and entire body was a blank sensation. His body felt as hard as stone, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get it to react in any way, not even the slightest tremor in his fingers.

This bizarre situation filled him with immense confusion and surprise. He had never lost control of his body before, and the feeling was incredibly unsettling. He wanted to shout for help, but he couldn't even make a sound. Besides moving his eyes, he couldn't do anything at all.

It felt like a fully conscious person was trapped in a small container, unable to move at all. It was enough to drive someone mad. Zhou Yi wasn't driven mad, but he was far from calm.

He began to think about what had happened. However, when he started to search his memories, he found that large patches of blankness began to appear.

Where had he been before? What had he done? Who were his friends and family? Everything was shrouded in a fog, and he couldn't remember anything. The only things he could remember were his mother, his sister, and his identity.

Dawn Knight, Solar God Spirit. A super hero with immense power.

But even these few memories were becoming hazy. Not only because of an indescribable interference, but also because he himself was questioning these memories.

From this body, which felt like stone, he couldn't feel any power. Could a person like this be a so-called super hero? He didn't believe it, and he didn't believe anyone else would either. So, if even this was false, would his mother and sister be real?

He wanted to doubt it, but he didn't dare. This remaining memory had become the most important thing to him. He began to silently repeat the memory in his mind, repeating it endlessly, imprinting it deeply into his mind, and engraving it into his bones. But, he didn't know how long this pale memory could last.

Time passed bit by bit, each second felt as long as a whole day. Until the sun rose and set, the moon waxed and waned. Time and again, over and over again. For Zhou Yi, he didn't even know how many days and nights had passed.

Time is always the most terrifying poison, because it can make everything lose its original color. Even memories, Zhou Yi became dazed about the memory he had recounted countless times. Countless days and nights passed, and his world was unchanging.

The terrifyingly white ward, the body that couldn't move, and the annoying beeping sounds that made people inexplicably angry. No one had ever come, and there had never been any change. It was as if only these things existed in the world. The eternal, unchanging colors and scenery were enough to erase everything in everyone's heart.

Those memories began to gradually dissipate, despite some unwillingness. But facing the unchanging reality, no amount of unwillingness could only lead to compromise. His world only had these things, no relatives, no friends, no self. Everything began to sink.

Zhou Yi's mental world was still maintaining a near-eternal state of unchanging. But outside his mind, the world was undergoing drastic changes.

Without the image of the mind amplifier, the seal Professor Charles had placed on himself took effect again. His power began to decline, and he soon lost the threat that was deadly to all mutants. And when Master Illusion Jason and Professor Charles joined forces and dragged Zhou Yi into the deepest mental illusion, their influence on everyone was reduced to the lowest level.

This meant that whether it was the Brotherhood of Mutants or the Academy, or the mutants controlled by Stryker. Most of them had recovered. Especially those who were controlled, when Jason was preoccupied, a few hallucinogens could no longer control their minds. They gained freedom of their minds.

But as freedom arrived, they also discovered that a terrifying disaster was upon them.

Erica Dam had already been severely damaged by Cyclops's powerful optic blasts. The only reason it was still standing was because Cyclops's blasts and the surging lake water had formed a precarious balance. The beams shot out from the dam's cracks, vaporizing the water that poured in and preventing it from impacting the dam.

It was a case of drinking poison to quench thirst, but it wasn't useless. However, when Cyclops regained consciousness and instinctively closed his eyes, this fragile balance was broken. The lake water, as if freed from its shackles, pounced towards the dam like a beast.

The dam, with its fatal wounds, could no longer withstand the immense water pressure and terrifying force. Starting from the massive breach, the dam began to fall apart. Along with the base, they were about to face a natural disaster of epic proportions. Billions of tons of water would completely submerge everything here.

The mutants began to scramble for their lives. They had no other choice in the face of nature's might, nor did they have time to make any other choices. The dam might hold for a little while longer, but for how long? No one knew, and no one wanted to know. All they could think about now was escaping this natural disaster.

The healthy Beast carried the unconscious Ororo, who had broken her legs after falling from the sky. At the same time, he pulled Cyclops along. Scott could only walk with his eyes closed at this moment, having lost his sight. He was essentially blind. Unable to control his powers, he could only keep his eyes closed to prevent further destruction.

As for Magneto's subordinates, they were the fastest to run at this moment because they only had to worry about themselves. In this regard, it must be said that Magneto's education of his subordinates was an absolute failure. Survival of the fittest might create strong individuals, but it could not build a strong team.

Almost everyone was running outwards, but there was one person moving against the flow. It was Jean, or rather, Jean who had fallen into a state of power rampage.

Professor Charles's previous mind wipe hadn't harmed this potential strongest mutant at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. His mental attack had made Jean's fragile will unable to hold on any longer.

The mental cage could no longer contain the near-deranged Dark Phoenix. She began to fight with Jean Grey, the body's original owner, for control. This resulted in a riot of her abilities.

Telekinesis, psychic power, and even the Dark Phoenix's power to annihilate matter, breaking down everything from its fundamental, microscopic level, had all mixed together, forming a terrifying psychic storm.

She moved forward step by step, and along the path she walked, the concrete and steel were all broken down into tiny particles. She was accelerating the dam's destruction. But no one dared to say anything to her. Because a visible storm surrounded her, and it was this storm that was causing everything they saw.

In the face of this destructive power, no one had the courage to speak. They could only go around her from a distance, desperately fleeing from this place.

Beast saw Jean, but he remained silent about what he saw. He didn't shout her name because he knew there was someone who would stop at nothing for her.

Even if Scott wasn't here, he didn't have the courage to stop her. As Professor's former assistant, he knew something about this potential strongest mutant and the Dark Phoenix within her. A being that Professor feared would only make him more wary. Just seeing her current appearance had almost drained his courage.

Smart people always do what they think is right, and Beast Hank thought the right thing to do was to escape with the Academy's remaining assets at this time. Jean Grey had become the being that the Professor feared the most in his mind, and he had already given up on her.

So, with almost no hesitation, he escaped with Ororo and Scott, blending into the crowd.

Jean naturally saw this. As the original form of Jean Grey, she felt a trace of sadness, but the Dark Phoenix, who currently held the upper hand in terms of will, didn't care at all. The thoughts of ants never left any mark on her heart. She only cared about one thing, and only that could make her care.

And now, what she felt was something that made her fear.

Her mental power was almost catching up to Professor Charles's, and at this moment, she vaguely sensed the mental light of the person she cared about the most. This light, under the induction of two powerful mental forces, became like a flickering candle in the wind, seemingly about to be extinguished.

And such a phenomenon was enough to drive her crazy. Almost in an instant, the mental storm around her surged, its destructive power even greater than before. At the same time, this storm began to move rapidly, like a real hurricane.

It destroyed everything, with only one target. Right at the deepest part of the dam.
