Chapter 34 - chapter 3

It had been a busy few months following the raid on Overhaul and his gang for Himiko. The reason? This next school year she would be going back to school in person hopefully. After a lot of thinking about her future, Himiko found herself pretty lost for what to do with herself besides helping out with the League. But there was no money to be made there and while she knew her new Dad would never dream of letting her have to worry about money, she couldn't help but eventually want some independence much like her older brothers had with the bar now that business had been doing well enough there for long enough that Tomura and Kurogiri fully bought out the building from Dad, properly establishing it as a legitimate business.

In the wake of her, Shoto and Izuku moving out, Dabi had begun rebuilding the left over extra space into a pair of rental apartments, having already developed some handyman skills while living on the streets doing what every work that would pay him. Dad was helping the three of them figure out things like building inspections and what was and was not up to code in their area so that the two apartments could be rented out legally as well. Now with Izuku starting Heroics officially in just a little over a month, Himiko couldn't help but feel a bit left behind.

It did not help that with all the extra attention there was on the League currently after Dad had fought with All Might that her older brothers were doing so physically too.

Tomura, feeling guilty, had offered to teach her one of his hobbies to help distract her while they were out, modding games. It had been a fun challenge at the start to try and make mods for some of his favorite games to surprise him but the more she coded the easier it got to read the lines of code. So, on an impulse, she had tried hacking into the cameras around the bar remotely while hanging out in her bedroom. She didn't succeed but the attempt had earned her a bemused knowing smile from her father later that night when he returned from wherever he had been vanishing to during the day when he did not stay home with her, Izuku and Eri before offering to help her improve so that next time she might succeed.

She had been half heartedly trying to hack into UA's security feed to spy on how her family were doing with the recommendations exam when suddenly all the defenses over one camera feed dropped. Curious, she opened the feed to see Nedzu smiling at her through a camera in a corner of his office. "Ah, good afternoon Himiko! I have to say, this was quite the pleasant surprise. I was not aware you had any interest in coding. Oh, and don't worry, I can hear you just fine on my end through your laptop microphone."

"I can't help but feel like I made a mistake somewhere."

Nedzu flicked his tail in a manner that she knew from his weekly in person chess matches with Dad was amusement. "Oh, if you had been attempting to break through the security for anything malicious for the school, most certainly. However, given that you were targeting the camera feeds for the drones out on the testing field where your brothers and cousin currently are, I believe it is safe to presume you were merely wishing to watch how they performed next to the other student hopefuls. Tell me, have you ever put any thought into considering joining our Support course? One thing that the teachers of the department are constantly bemoaning is the lack of interest in the software side of things."

Himiko blinked. "I am not all that interested in building support gear."

"I am not asking that you be. While, yes, there would be a few small projects that you would be assigned to ensure you understand the basics of the hardware side of things, I suspect that you would not be lacking classmates looking for your help on projects. Unlike the other departments, Support is a fully collaboration focused course since it is rare for an engineer to work completely alone on a project."

Himiko had to consider that. "So I could just code?"

"If that is what you wanted to do then yes."

"How would that work? I know you offered to let me transfer into UA as a Second year to fill a seat of someone who dropped or was kicked out but I doubt I could just join in the Support exclusive classes at the start of second year with basically no background in it."

Nedzu nodded. "That is true. Normally with most courses if someone was to transfer tracks at the start of the second year, they would be expected to play catch up with their yearmates but because of the nature of Support lab class, things are a bit more flexible. I believe our best option would be for you to join the first year classes for support and like your brother Izuku, take advanced classes in your general studies with a second year class. It would mean you would graduate a year later than originally planned but it would also leave you in the same year as Izuku."

Himiko found herself grinning at the thought. "Oooh that would mean I would be in the same sports festival as Izuku. That would be fun."

Nedzu laughed his chittery laugh. "But of course! Additionally, unlike a hero course student you would be allowed to bring as many support items into the competition as you seemed fit so long as you made them yourself."

Himiko felt her own grin turn feral. Making a set of throwing knives would hardly be a challenge. "I think I will have to talk with my parents about the offer."

Nedzu nodded. "But of course! Feel free to have Hisashi call me back when you have your answer. Just know that you have already passed the practical for Support if you wish to accept so all we will need are your written test results from your already scheduled Transfer Student Entrance Exam next week."

Nedzu severed the connection between the two of them, making Himiko snap her laptop closed. She hopped up from her window seat in her room, and headed a few doors down to Eri's room where she assumed her father was currently.

She opened the door to them sitting on the floor at Eri's own little Kotatsu table that her art supplies were currently spread out over. Eri was hunched over clearly focused on coloring her drawing while their Dad sat beside her on his own laptop. He looked up to see her beaming face. "Something good happen Himiko?"

Himiko happily plopped down at the table. "Nedzu just caught me hacking into UA's cameras and offered me a place in the Support course in Izuku's year with my general studies with the second years. He said that my attempt earned me a passing score in the practical for the course."

Dad's smile seemed equally bemused as Nedzu had been. "My, my, you must have gotten pretty far before he stopped you to consider waving the practical. I take it that you want to do it even though it sounds like you will be held back a year?"

Himiko nodded. "Yeah, I think I do. I wanted to ask you and Mom first though. And Dadtective to I guess."

Dad snorted. "I highly doubt Naomasa would feel like he had much say in that matter but yes we should probably talk with Inko before I just sign off on it."

Eri was looking up at her now. "What is the Support course?"

Himiko smiled. "You remember the mask that Dad was wearing because he was hurt? Someone who would have studied in that area made it for him. Support people help people in a different way than real Heroes do by making things easier for other people to do things with their machines. But the thing about those machines is that someone needs to make the brains of them work which is what Nedzu thinks I would be good at."

Eri gave a nod of satisfaction at the explanation. "You should do it Himiko-nē. You are really smart too, like Dad, Tomu-nii and Izu-nii."

Himiko got a mischievous smile at that. "Oh, not Dabi-nii?"

Eri shrugged. "Dabi-nii is smart too, just a different kind of smart. More like Mom and Uncle Zashi I think. People smart."

Himiko giggled at that. "Oh I wouldn't be too sure about that. Shoto's older brother and sister would probably disagree at least."

Eri looked puzzled at that. "Why?"

Dad chuckled before reaching over to lightly ruffle Eri's hair. "They are currently a bit annoyed with him after he ghosted them for over a decade."

Eri brightened. "Oh, a decade is 10 years right?"

Dad nodded with a soft smile. "That's correct!"

Eri tilted her head slightly, "Wait, what do you mean by ghosted? Dabi-nii is not a ghost."

Himiko leaned forward to rest her elbows on the table. "He means that Dabi vanished from their lives out of the blue without leaving a trace. Like a ghost. Dabi was avoiding them because their Dad is not a nice person who hurt him and he didn't want to be hurt again. They aren't mad about him leaving them, just not keeping in touch when he could."

Eri considered that before nodding. Clearly having deemed the answer acceptable.

Himiko stood nervously outside the UA gates a week later. Around her a number of teens her age were funneling past heading to the check ins for Transfers. She was a bit of an odd one out in that unlike the others who bore the uniforms of other local high schools, maybe a couple from farther away, here she was in one of her brother Tomura's hoodies over her own cute pink dress and gray leggings with little bats on them. She felt she stuck out like a bit of a sore thumb honestly.

Still she had to go in. Himiko took a calming breath and crossed the barrier following the flow of students to the sign in desks arranged by which course you were testing to transfer into. She found herself awkwardly pausing as she looked between the sign in tables for Gen Ed and Support, honestly not sure which one she was supposed to go to. While, yes, she was ultimately going to be a year 1 Support student, she would also be a year 2 Gen Ed.

After a moment of awkwardly looking back and forth a hand came down on her shoulder. "You are testing with Gen Ed."

"Oh, hey Shou-nii!"

Her sort of older brother sighed, shoving his hand back into his pocket. "I regret ever calling Hisashi Dad."

Himiko offered him a fanged grin. "No you don't or you would have stopped by now."

He just grumbled slightly under his breath about all his younger siblings being problem children before nudging her lightly in the direction of the Gen Ed table being run by who she could only presume to be one of the 2nd year Gen Ed homeroom teachers. As he stalked back off to his spot along the wall near the Hero course table, she waved at him one last time. "Talk to you later Onii-san!"

She grinned as that got the effect she was expecting from some of the other Transfer hopefuls, namely a few aiming for the Hero course that seemed to recognize who he was from the whispers that broke out between them. She giggled to herself as she approached the Gen Ed sign in, one of the last ones it seemed. The female Hero that she did not recognize off the top of her head looked up with a smile. "Normally I would have to ask a name but I assume from your interaction with Aizawa that you must be Midoriya Himiko." At her nod the woman picked up her testing pass to pass it over. "Here you go. Best of luck!"

Himiko flashed her fangs at the woman in a grin. "Thanks! Have a nice day!"

Himiko followed the signs from there to the rooms set up as a testing center. It seemed that she was only one of a small handful of students only testing for Gen Ed but she supposed that was fair given that there was only the one seat that she knew of that was open given the purge that class 1-A had gone through this past year. It was because there were so many open spots still in 2-A that so many people were trying to transfer this year. Her eldest brother/uncle Shouta however had no intention of letting students that would not have passed his class claim the remaining seats so was helping the 2-A homeroom teacher Ectoplasm sort through the applicants.

As soon as she sat down, Pro Hero Thirteen nodded around at the room. "We are just waiting on one last student and then maybe we can start a little early."

One of the other girls nearby with blue hair the same color as Tomura turned to Himiko. "Hi I'm Youkou Sora! You?"

Himiko grinned. "Midoriya Himiko! Nice to meet you!"

"So why are you not in your current school uniform? I thought it was required to wear it during the written exam."

Himiko giggled and tugged at her hoodie smiling. "I am. My older brothers were both homeschooled so when my new family adopted me during the middle of last year, I ended up switching over to homeschooling."

Youkou's gaze softened as she seemed to notice Himiko's fangs. "Your last place not work out then? That's why I am trying to transfer here too." She raised the side of her Uniform top to reveal a patch of scales and what looked to be a set of gills covering the sides of her ribs starting just below the band of her bra. "I have a Transformative type Quirk that works whenever I am in water but the gills never go away. There have been issues with some of the other girls when I have to change in the locker rooms for gym at my current place. My current school says they have a no tolerance policy for that sort of thing but since they only ever harass me in the locker rooms, the lack of proof means that they haven't done anything to stop it. I hear that UA is better about that sort of thing so I thought I would try my luck here."

Himiko nodded in understanding. "My Quirk is blood based obviously with my fangs. If I drink a person's blood I can turn into them for an amount of time determined by how much of their blood I have drunk. I have to ingest blood regularly or I start to starve which my birth family did not like. It is not an issue anymore though since my family had been sourcing blood for blood based Quirks for a while before they found me for the bar that one of my brother's co-owns."

She smiled. "Oh that is so cool! That is like the perfect Quirk to go into acting! Is that why you are here?"

Himiko winced slightly at the idea. "Yeah I guess it is. The thing is, after having to act like someone I'm not for so long, the idea of doing it all the time again doesn't really appeal to me. I mean it is one thing to wear the faces of other people for a bit for fun but another to have to pretend to be them. I dunno, I think the only acting I probably will do is if I help out my Uncle Atsuhiro during one of his magic shows." She shook her head. "While I am trying to transfer into Gen Ed as a 2nd year, I am actually going to technically be heading into 1st year Support. Nedzu just thought it would be a waste to repeat all of my learning from this past year by fully having me repeat the year in the correct course since I know what I want to do now."

"Oh, and what's that? I'm aiming to go into marine biology myself."

"I enjoy the software side of Support a lot. I dunno how to explain it other than coding just sort of clicks with me."

The other girl seemed to consider her for a moment. "Yeah I think I can see that. You have the video game nerd kind of air about you."

Himiko chuckled. "Yeah my brother Tomu-nii really rubbed off on me. He is the one who originally started teaching me coding before my Dad took over."

Before they could really chat more one last boy with a minor reptile mutation covering him in scales wandered in. Youkou was quick to turn back in her seat but leaned sideways back over. "Hey if you finish first, you mind sticking around for me to finish? I wanna exchange numbers, that way even if we don't both get in we can still chat. I need more girl friends."

"Sure!"

Eijiro sat on the steps leading down to what had once been the local trash beach. Several months of hard work with his new friends and it was finally done. He smiled to himself as he watched the sunlight dance over the waves, enjoying the afternoon off from Katsuki and the others helping him cram for the written portion of the entrance exam the next week.

Now he was just waiting on Yagi to come through on his half of his offered deal. Today would theoretically be the day he received a second Quirk.

A year ago he would have scoffed at the idea that something like this was possible but knowing the man who created the Quirk fairly well at this point prevented such feelings of disbelief now. Not that he planned on telling Yagi that fact. It wasn't so much him wanting to lie to the man then him worrying the shock could actually kill him. Yagi had never been in the best of health even before his most recent fight with All for One but ever since he had seemed extra fragile.

The worst part of all was it was clear in hindsight that Yagi could only really blame himself for everything. All for One had technically thrown the first blow between them but outside of his two little jabs to Yagi's injured side he had only fought defensively from that point forward. For a while after, it was clear he had been reconsidering passing One for All on in wake of the fight out of clear worry about All for One. It was only Eijiro pointing out that another fight like that would only likely kill him without even leaving a scratch on All for One that the man admitted defeat after he made Eijiro promise to not try and fight the other man until he was at minimum a fully licensed Hero.

Yeah that wouldn't be an issue. After all, if Eijiro needed to get the man to stop being a Villain for some reason, he had just the right vigilante on speed dial. Hell he had the right cop and therapist given how the supervillain turned to mush around both his detective and his wife as Eijiro had been shocked to witness on more than one occasion. Honestly it was hard to be scared of the man when he knew all the right buttons to press to make him fold in seconds.

But maybe that was why things had worked out this way? Fate worked in mysterious ways and how better to end the several century long conflict but with a surprising friendship?

"Young Kirishima, I hope I have not kept you waiting long?"

Eijiro looked up at the approaching figure of Yagi. "Nah, I was just enjoying not having to think for a bit. Katsuki is kinda intense when it comes to studying. I think my brain is still smoking from overworking during our session last night."

Yagi gave him a smile. "I am glad to hear that you are getting any help you might need for the written exam next week but I don't think overworking your mind is any better for you then overworking your body would be."

"Yeah probably. It's kinda my own fault though. I should have started studying harder a couple months ago when he started reviewing so he is just helping me make up for lost time. Honestly the worst part of being part of our friend group is the fact that I am the least book smart of us so I have to work twice as hard to keep up with the others." He shrugged. "But there is nothing wrong with being the dedicated tank of the group."

"Tank?"

Eijiro blushed. "Oh, uh, it is a gaming term. It means that I am the big tough guy in the fight built for taking hits so the others don't have to. The other core members of a balanced party have a DPS- damage per second- guy and some sort of support. Our friend group is pretty DPS heavy with both our support multiclassing…" Eijiro trailed off at Yagi's rising level of bible confusion. "Er… We play Dungeons and Dragons with Izuku's older brother Tomura most weeks on Saturday nights. The strategies for combat in the game translate pretty well over into real life so I might have sort of picked up the habit of switching to game mode when thinking of combat strategy in general."

Yagi sighed and shook his head. "It is fine, Young Kirishima. If that is what works for you then who am I to say anything? I will admit that I am not too familiar with the game outside of broad general knowledge so just please keep that in mind."

Eijiro nodded in quick agreement. "Yeah, sorry. So One for All?"

Yagi clapped his hands together. "Right! Are you ready for this my boy?" He plucked a hair from his head. "Eat this!"

Future Students of Class 1-A

Small Might: Word of advice. If someone offers you a Quirk and says all you have to do to get it is eat one of their hairs, say no.

That was so gross.

Small for One: You have Uncle Yoichi's Quirk now then?

Small Might: Theoretically

All Might said to give it a couple hours before trying to use it.

Bomberanian: In that case you are coming back over to my place.

That is a few more free hours we should use for studying.

Small Might: Can I just have like 30 more minutes before the torture starts back up?

My brain felt like it was melting out of my ears at the end of our session last night.

Bomberanian: You have no one to blame but yourself Shitty Hair.

You put this off and now you get to pay the price.

Metal Sonic: Would it be alright if I join you two?

I still have yet to take the written exam unlike some people.

Mewtwo: sucks to suck

Peppermint: I would have preferred to have the extra two weeks to review myself

Small for One: Look on the brightside

You get to sleep in on the day of the regular exam practical

Peppermint: Only if I stay the night at one of your places.

The human trash fire will wake me up early regardless I suspect.

I don't think he has realized that I go back to sleep after he leaves every morning since I have been finishing all my homeschooling on time.

Small for One: Eijiro you should wait to test out One for All until you can come over here

That why when things go horribly wrong Dad can patch you back up

Small Might: Well that is an alarmingly specific set of instructions

Don't tell me I am going to blow off a limb like All Might mentioned that one time?

Small for One: I don't know but the good news is if you do Dad can Overhaul you back into one piece

☆*゚ ゜゚*(´∀`)*゚ ゜゚*☆

Mewtwo: wow i nearly forgot you power of making stupid kaomoji look ominous

Small Might: Yeah definitely waiting to test things out until I am at your place

Yoichi hated the transfer process. The sudden blackout after he approved the transfer and the disorientation that follows for the next several hours in real time always sucked.

This time was worse because when he came back to himself his eyes were met with his brother's gaze. His fully healed brother's gaze.

Inside the Quirk he violently flinched back. Sure he had realized that if his theory that Midoriya Izuku was his brother's kid in some way and the Ninth was friends with him, there was a pretty good chance they would cross paths soon enough. But this was something he was completely unprepared for.

He only half registered his brother pulling his hand off his successor's shoulder. "Well it seems One for All has finished settling if you are ready to try it out?"

The Ninth gave a shaky grin. "So, uh, you're sure that Yagi was just exaggerating about me possibly blowing my limbs off?"

Hisashi chuckled and patted Ninth on the shoulder. "Fairly sure but even if that wasn't the case you have me and Doctor Eri on the case."

Ninth turned to look down at the cutest little girl that Yoichi had likely ever seen wearing an adult sized doctor's lab coat with a determined look on her face.

Seventh gave a small squeal. "Oh my god she's adorable!"

Fifth slung an arm over his shoulder. "Damn, Nighteye or his sister really put in the work to cancel out the bastard's genes huh?"

The Ninth gave the little girl a more determined smile. "Right. I'm in your hands." He stepped back away from the pair and walked out onto a lawn in an enclosed courtyard. Sitting in the grass on the opposite side was Izuku and the rest of the kids who had helped Ninth clean the beach sans Endeavor's kid.

Ninth took a deep breath before activating his own original Quirk. He released the breath before Yoichi felt him tentatively reaching out to try and activate One for All for the first time. Cracks quickly rippled over the kid's arm, power bleeding through like lava leaking from cracked stone. Yoichi nearly panicked at the sight before realizing that the kid didn't actually seem to be hurting.

Ninth's grin brightened. "Oh that is so cool!"

"Punch the target dummy already Shitty Hair! You can fuck around with your Quirk all you want when we know it won't hurt you."

Ninth gave the blonde of the group an apologetic look. "Ah, right! Sorry Katsuki!"

Without any hesitation he lashed out with the glowing arm.

PAIN.

Ninth gave a frightened yep as his arm basically exploded from the inside out. Sure, it did not in fact blow off, but blood was now leaking violently from the cracks and Yoichi was pretty sure the kid had broken a couple bones.

Suddenly a hand was on his shoulder. There was another blinding flash of pain but all traces of it vanished almost instantly. His arm was healed as if that had never even happened. Hisashi released the boy's shoulder. "Try dialing down the power output slightly. While your own Quirk helped counter most of the backlash, you still broke a couple bones in your hands as well as obviously breaking the skin."

Ninth nodded. "Uh, yeah I kinda noticed. Give me a sec."

This time when he activated One for All for the second time, he was more careful about not flooding himself with the full strength of it, using only 25 percent. That punch only broke the target.

Ninth gave a whoop of triumph. "That is so cool!"

Hisashi nodded with a smirk of a smile. "Very cool. I'm glad that the Quirk seems to be sitting comfortably with your own. I will admit I was still a bit concerned that you wouldn't be able to get a handle on it quickly enough for the exam in a few days. Yagi sure took his time in handing it over."

Izuku on the sidelines piped up. "I mean to be fair, his fight with you probably spooked him. It isn't like he knows that you have no intention of hurting Eijiro."

Hisashi hummed. "I suppose that is true. Still I can hardly blame him for it either. If our places were swapped, I would have been terrified of him hurting Tomura."

The bluenette next to Izuku pulled himself to his feet. "As interesting a though experiment as that is, we should probably get back to studying since it seems that there are no more immediate concerns with Eijiro's Quirk."

The blonde (the infamous Katsuki apparently) popped up too. "What Glasses said. Come on Shitty Hair."

The Lavender haired boy fell over dramatically onto the still siting Izuku. "You guys have fun. I'll just be here getting my ass kicked by Izu in the name of training."

Yoichi considered the boy. "Do you guys think that is my brother's other kid that age that he mentioned?"

Second huffed. "Well it sure isn't Katsuki. I doubt any of my brother's decedents would have that bad of taste in men as to sleep with your brother."

Third seemed to consider the boy that Ninth seemed to be closer with of the two that were going to study with him. "Am I the only one who finds it strange that All for One is even tolerating him being friends with his kids given how much he loathed you. He is basically the spitting image of you."

Yoichi considered that. "Yeah, that is a bit surprising. Still I have to admit it is likely that there is more to my brother then we know about at this point. I'm sure that with time we will get some answers to our questions..."
