Chapter 1 - Death… but not for long!

Jason sprinted down the street, his black hair blowing in the wind as he ripped open the box of his brand new VR headset. It was the newest model, it supposedly was able to be indistinguishable from real life… yeah right!

There's no way that's true. Jason had to see for himself.

He could barely contain his excitement, a giant smile was plastered on his face as he took the headset out of the tattered box. People passed him, staring at the weirdo trying a headset in the middle of the sidewalk, but he didn't care.

As he slipped it on, a HUD instantly flooded his vision: a game tab, social tab, store tab…

He couldn't wait any longer, and quickly navigated to games. The headset comes preinstalled with one, even though it's a trash game— Cornucopia.

It was rated only 3.2 stars, and people shat on it for its buggy code, poorly written story, and completely imbalanced gameplay… but its graphics were apparently top tier.

As the game booted up, he tabbed out of the game in order to see his surroundings and pressed the crosswalk button.

"Come on… hurry up you stupid sign! I gotta get home quick!"

.

.

.

"WHATS TAKING SO LONG!"

After a couple minutes, the dumb red hand was still there.

Jason presses the button again.

"wait.."

He presses again.

"Wait.."

He presses even more!

"Wait… wait… wait… wait…"

"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!"

Jason could hardly take it anymore, and rushes out, he'll just run across! Like a fucking idiot I suppose… Natural selection works in mysterious ways.

The instant his foot hits the asphalt, he hears the blaring horn of a truck rushing toward him at 30 miles an hour.

Before he can even turn to look… ah well I'll save you the gory details…

"Huh?"

Jason's eyes slowly open, and he finds himself in an all-white room… the only thing inside is a small blue screen in front of his face.

"What the…. where the hell am I?!!"

.

.

.

[Youre in Cornucopia?]

.

.

.

"Huh?!! What do you mean?? Didn't I just get hit by a truck?!"

.

.

.

[Yeah… didn't you also press play on this game though? Why are you so surprised]

.

.

.

"That's just a game! This is fucking real!"

.

.

.

[…]

[Are you stupid?]

.

.

.

"Who are you calling stupid?! Tell me what's going on!"

.

.

.

[I don't want to deal with this anymore… look, I'll pick your damn name for you if you don't pick yourself…]

.

.

.

"My name?? My name is…"

Before a Jason could finish, a voice boomed. Not from the around him, but inside his head.

"This story is moving too slow…"

"AHHHHH, who was that??!"

.

.

.

[Name entered!]

[Welcome AHHHHH! Enjoy your stay!]

.

.

.

Instantly, Jason's body began to vanish into white pixels.

"Wait! What's happeni—"

.

.

.

[Finally… he was too loud.]

.

.

.

.

.

Jason's eyes open once more, however the pure white room he was just in seems to be nowhere in sight.

All that remained was an endless expanse of trees with no end in sight.

"Wh.. Where am I now?"

"Hello? Where did that annoying screen go?"

"The main character is kind of annoying… he just screams and complains"

"Huh??? Who are you calling annoying? I just fucking died! Cut me some slack…"

"Wait who even are you?"

.

.

.

"Hello?"

"Loser MC… if they don't get more interesting imma drop this."

"OH COME ON!"
