Chapter 122 - Chapter -122-A Circle of Remembrance

In the soft, fading light of a mid- August evening, they made the solemn journey to the cemetery. Ariana, Kian, Lucas, and Jessica, carrying candles and flowers, formed a quiet procession to the grave of Lucas's first wife and Ariana's mother. The visit marked the thirteenth anniversary of the tragedy that had shattered their family.

Together, they gently cleared away stray leaves and weeds from the granite headstone. As dusk began to settle, they lit candles, their flames casting a warm, flickering glow on the stone, and placed a blanket of fresh flowers around its base. Ariana's eyes welled with tears, the memory of her mother's smiling face surfacing with a sharp, loving clarity.

Then, they took turns speaking to her, their voices soft in the tranquil evening air.

Lucas went first, his voice thick with a lifetime of regret. "I've carried the pain of failing to save you and our son for thirteen years," he confessed. "I failed Ariana, too, but I am trying to make it right now. I've found happiness again with Jessica. I hope you can forgive me." 😢

Jessica spoke next, her tone gentle and respectful. "Thank you," she whispered to the silent stone. "Thank you for the time you gave him, which helped shape the good man I have today. I promise to love and care for the family you left behind. May you finally have peace." 😌

Finally, Ariana and Kian stepped forward, their hands linked. "Mom," Ariana began, her voice trembling, "this is Kian. He's the one who helped put my heart back together." Kian added softly, "I will love and protect your daughter for the rest of my life. I promise." 🌠

Before leaving, they visited the nearby grave of Ariana's brother, offering their quiet wishes for his peace. As they walked away, the circle of grief felt smaller, the weight of the past a little lighter, having been shared and acknowledged together under the emerging stars. 🌟
