Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: Still Me

Chan's POV

The screen went black for just a moment... Then lit up with that familiar countdown: 3... 2... 1... LIVE

And there he was. Chan sat cross-legged on the hotel floor, back against the bedframe, a soft hoodie hanging off one shoulder, hair slightly tousled. The light behind the camera haloed him gently—warm and real.

"Hey, STAY," he said, voice calm, lips tugging into that shy smile.

The comments exploded instantly:

"CHANNNN"

"We missed you!!"

"Leadernimmmm"

"IS THAT A SHADOW NEXT TO HIM??"

"Is she there?? Just blink if she's there"

Chan chuckled, glancing at the stream of questions.

"So I just wanted to check in with everyone... There's been a lot of chatter online lately. And instead of letting rumors take over, I thought it'd be best to come talk to you myself."

He glanced to the side—and the camera caught it.

Your hand. Resting lightly on his knee.

The chat exploded.

"WAIT."

"HER HAND???"

"I'M GONNA CRY???"

"OMG THIS IS SO WHOLESOME"

"WE LOVE LOVE"

Chan exhaled, laughing under his breath. "Yeah. I'm not alone right now."

He turned to look at you, eyes warm. "You okay?"

You nodded, and leaned in slightly, just enough for your face to appear on screen—natural, a little flushed, hair tucked back with the rose still behind your ear.

The chat lost it.

"SHE'S SO PRETTY WTF"

"THAT'S THE GIRL FROM THE CONCERTTT"

"I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT"

"YOU GUYS ARE GLOWING WHAT"

"She looks like she sees him. Like really sees him."

Chan beamed. "So... yeah. This is real. It's not PR, it's not for show. It's been happening quietly and respectfully behind the scenes. And I've never been more centered in my life."

He reached for your hand again and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"I'm still your Chan," he said, voice steady. "Still the guy who works late, makes dad jokes, cries during anime, and lives for the stage. But I've found someone who reminds me to breathe."

The screen split—several little hearts popping up as viewers flooded the comments with love.

And just then, a familiar face popped into the chat.

Lee Know joined. "Tell her I still think she's louder than you."

Han joined. "The walls agree."

Felix joined. "Look at my matchmaking skills"

Changbin joined. "Protect this energy at all costs."

Seungmin joined. "I'm just here to supervise."

Hyunjin joined. "She's the main character and he's her reward."

Jeongin joined. "Finally, some peace in this man's life."

The fans caught on quickly—the whole group was watching from their rooms.

"EVEN THE MEMBERS ARE HERE IM SOBBING"

"THE FACT THAT THEY ALL LOVE HER"

"NOT ME CRYING AT MIDNIGHT"

"STRAY FAMILY IS SO REAL"

You glanced at Chan and, surprising even yourself, leaned toward the mic. "I just wanted to say thank you... for how kind you've all been," you said gently. "This... wasn't easy. But the love in this chat? It means the world."

Chan's eyes widened slightly—he hadn't expected you to speak. But when you did, he looked at you like he might burst from pride.

You smiled at him, shy but sure.

He laughed. "She talks, STAY."

The chat spiraled:

"OH MY GOD I LOVE HER VOICE"

"NO WONDER HE'S IN LOVE"

"MOTHER"

Near the end of the stream, Chan sat up a little straighter.

"I just want to leave you with this," he said, gaze full of affection. "No matter what changes in my life, I'm still yours. I'll always be here—writing, creating, pushing myself for you. This love doesn't take away from that. It adds to it."

Then he opened his arms toward the camera. "Come here."

The fans knew it—his big hug.

The comments flooded with hearts, crying emojis, and "BRB SOBBING."

You leaned into his side, wrapping your arm around his waist as he wrapped the virtual embrace around the entire fandom. And in that moment, it didn't feel like a goodbye. It felt like an arrival.
