Chapter 3 - Sneak Peak

The dark grey sky released a torrent of rain, casting a misty veil over the university campus. The girl with sharp facial features, was navigating towards Arcadia.

As lightning strikes, her dark brown eyes sparkled with a fleeting radiance, as if reflecting the electric flash.

Despite her efforts to appear calm, she couldn't help, but to bite her lower lip occasionally, a subtle sign of anxiety was building inside her as she emerged from the social sciences block.

Her long eyelashes fluttered as she gazed up at the rain-soaked sky.

Her raven-black hairs were pulled back into the tight bun, with two loose strands framing her face.

As she made her way towards Arcadia the rain intensified, drumming against her coat. Water streaming down her face, the small and pleasant walk have become a daunting task.

She turned a corner, and the warm light of Arcadia beckoned in the distance. Her feet carried her towards the edge of the campus.

On the exact right cherry blossom tree loomed around her. Rain dripped from her delicate petals, creating a steady patter accompanying her footsteps. The sweet smell of the blossoms filled the air, with a subtle contrast of gloominess of rain.

After passing residential area, like a beacon in darkness she saw the sign of Arcadia, she entered through gate with a subtle satisfaction framing her face.

The rain pounded the pavement behind her as she stepped into the narrow, steep stairs. Her thumb tracing the cold metal railing, the tracing gave the final as she climbed stairs.

As she pushed open the door, a warm glow of light spilled out.

The moment she entered she could sense murmuring of the voices.

The hostel common room was abuzz with activities, making a lively atmosphere, with twenty five girls scattered around the space.

To the right, dining table was set with steaming plates of food, scattering of cups, their arrangement haphazard and casual. The seniors were recognizable by their confident demeanors, all gathered around the table chitchatting.

To the far left and In front of where dining table was set, room three were to be seen. The door of the room was ajar, revealing cozy space, with personal belongings scattered around, while humming of voices were making it's way out of the room.

The kitchen shared its left wall with room three and right wall with room two, where faint jazz music drifted out, mingling with the enticing aromas of cooking that wafted throughout the hall.

As she stood there taking in the scene, the girls' gazes drifted to her, their eyes lingering with interest. The room was hushed with anticipation and curiosity, keeping an eye out on her moves.

To them she was a girl who kept herself and rarely speak. Her blunt, often rude demeanor had earned her the reputation of most insensitive girl.

It was as if she had set an invisible wall around her preventing others to enter her territory.

The fact that she stayed in the hostel even in vacation, had no friends, and that she had no visitors except from the person she call BIG BRO was mysterious, something unusual.

Her most familiar response is "hmm" one that could mean anything from "I am listening" to "I don't care" or "I am not interested".

As they watched her, they couldn't help but feel a little intimidated. She was the girl who didn't suffer fools gladly, who didn't tolerate nonsense.

She walked into her room, closing the door with the soft click avoiding all the gazes.

She stripped off the wet clothes, washed quickly. Within minutes she was out of shower, dressed in a warm and comfortable clothes. Her hand move swiftly as she buttoned up her soft, pastel Color sweeter, a contract to her muted tone which was adorned with small white buttons up to neck. She pulled up socks, her hair which was tangled mess was dried and twisted into bun.

The style was severe yet elegant emphasizing on her sharp demeanor. The baby pink sweeter and the tight bun created intriguing contrast _softness and severity, vulnerability and control that suits her personality.

Grabbing her dirty clothes, and stuffed it into laundry bag, headed downstairs avoiding stares and deposit them into laundry room.

From there she went to kitchen, grab her food, sat on the table. She was too focused on her food to bother with small talk.
