The sky darkens as something enormous descends.
Wings like obsidian storms.
A roar that shakes the river.
Flames spiraling in a perfect, cinematic swirl.
ALDEN
(covering his head)
WHY IS IT ALWAYS BIG THINGS TRYING TO KILL ME?!
SERAPHINE
Relax! I've fought dragons before!
VALERIA
Correction: you fought a baby drake.
It bit your boot and you cried.
SERAPHINE

The entire forest behind her ignites in a towering inferno.
In one smooth motion, she absorbs all the flames back into her palm like a vacuum.

Dragons are frightening.

It glows—

the Starbound Seal will awaken.

She touches the mark.
A shockwave explodes outward.

Everyone is blasted backward—
trees uprooted, water spiraling into the air, ground splitting.
A massive pillar of light shoots into the sky.
Inside it—
Alden floats.
Eyes glowing.
Mark blazing.
Lyra screams gleefully.

He is awakening.
Kaelith smiles softly, proudly.

Your power has finally stirred.
Alden's glow fades.
He wobbles.
He collapses face-first into the dirt.

Lyra floats above him.
