Chapter 113 - The Art of Persuasion

After a burst of rapid typing, Bronya spent only twenty minutes compiling the historical data Evan needed.

It wasn't a rough timeline of major events, but a detailed archive integrating records from Schicksal, Anti-Entropy, and civilian sources. Calling it "richly illustrated and mutually corroborated" would be no exaggeration.

The Anti-Entropy data was provided as a courtesy by Bronya herself.

Now, Evan just needed to prepare a document reader and a solar charging device, and Kallen and the others in the Jizo Mitama Space would have something to read.

While he was at it, he might as well go to the bookstore and buy books covering various topics as gifts.

Having satisfied virtually all the living and entertainment needs of those in the Jizo Mitama Space for the time being, Evan let out a soft sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Bronya. What kind of reward do you want? Like recharging money into your game? I can help you whale to become stronger."

Reward?

This word reminded Bronya of a scene from the past.

The moment on the edge of Nagazora City where Evan held back the tide of Honkai Beasts and reversed the zombification process of the last survivor of the defense squad.

That miracle was what made Bronya decide to follow Evan, accompanying him to St. Freya Academy.

Later, the explanation Bronya gave Cocolia was that she wanted to see if Evan could keep going—keep saving people and continuing the miracle.

But in reality, Bronya yearned for a miracle to descend upon herself.

Bronya hoped Evan could save her best friend, Seele, who had disappeared into the Sea of Quanta years ago.

But she couldn't say it now.

The Sea of Quanta was dangerous. Seele had disappeared and failed to return to the real world. Bronya herself, who had tried to find her, managed to return with Mama Cocolia's help but lost her legs and many normal emotions. Bronya understood that the current her had no standing to make such a dangerous request of Evan.

She hoped to do more, until the day she could muster the courage to voice her wish.

Evan didn't know how many thoughts had passed through Bronya's mind in this short moment, but he saw the slightly shifting light in her eyes.

Bronya has something on her mind.

Did Cocolia give Bronya some new order? If that's truly the case, perhaps I should take some measures, or commission someone else to remove the bio-chip from Bronya's brain.

It wasn't that he distrusted Bronya, but simply that he wanted to eliminate unstable factors.

Alternatively, it could be something related to a more distant point in time—Seele.

The Sea of Quanta, huh...

If one only considered the difficulty of traveling between the Sea of Quanta and the real world, it wasn't too hard to overcome. But the true danger of the Sea of Quanta wasn't the place itself, but the people inside.

There was a very tricky existence in there.

If you are worried about Seele right now, Bronya, I'm sorry. For the time being, I can't go to the Sea of Quanta too early.

Evan silently apologized in his heart.

However, if it was a problem with the bio-chip, Evan already had more than one solution; he just lacked a suitable opportunity.

...

St. Freya Academy, Principal's Office.

"Yo, Theresa. How have you been lately?"

Otto Apocalypse, the Overseer of Schicksal, proactively contacted his granddaughter to say hello.

"Is there something you need? Grandfather."

On the electronic screen in front of Otto, his cute granddaughter revealed a wary expression due to his proactive contact, just as always. Why be like this? This is just normal concern from a grandfather to his granddaughter.

Otto sighed, the corners of his mouth curling up with a hint of malice.

Although, admittedly, there were indeed some things he wanted to accomplish along the way.

"I heard that the 3rd Eruption broke out in the Far East not long ago, but St. Freya Academy quelled it very quickly with seemingly minimal losses. Very good, Theresa. However, there must have been some losses, right? Do you need Grandpa to support you with some funds or weapons and equipment?"

Otto's words left Theresa speechless for a moment.

It was true that St. Freya Academy had broken away from Schicksal, but similar support had never been lacking. If not for Otto's help, Theresa wouldn't have been able to solve many of the problems that arose when St. Freya Academy first became independent.

Back then, Theresa had been a bit too naive.

Just like Fu Hua, the class monitor of St. Freya Academy, who was an A-rank Valkyrie from Schicksal. Even Himeko Murata's battlesuit originated from Schicksal.

Theresa was helpless about this situation but powerless to change it.

However, Evan's previous plan allowed her to see new hope.

A hope to completely break free from her grandfather's support—which might harbor ulterior motives—and develop everything as it should be. Just like her ideal, one day St. Freya Academy would be able to independently fight all Honkai disasters and save all innocent people, doing even better than Schicksal.

Rather than treating Valkyries as expendable chips like her grandfather did.

"No need."

Facing Otto's proposal, Theresa refused without hesitation.

Otto revealed a look of sadness at just the right moment.

"What a cold rejection. Although we can contact each other via remote communication from time to time, Grandpa misses you very much. I don't know how you're doing now, so maybe I should personally visit St. Freya Academy..."

"That's not necessary. As the Overseer of Schicksal, it's better for Grandfather not to go out casually."

Otto was interrupted by Theresa before he could finish. In reality, Theresa held fear toward Otto—her own grandfather.

She was afraid Otto's arrival would destroy the current harmony and beauty of St. Freya Academy, which were among the few things Theresa had left.

The second rejection was still within Otto's expectations. He began to state his true purpose nonchalantly.

"Then, let me send someone to visit you on my behalf? If I don't get to know your situation, Theresa, Grandpa won't be able to eat or sleep in peace."

"...Fine. Who do you want to send, Grandfather?"

"Don't be too nervous. Just an ordinary maid."
