Chapter 3 - Chapter 1: You've gone off course

Bang! Rear-end collision!

When You Shulang came to his senses from the chaos, the navigation on his mobile phone was still prompting: You have deviated from the route, please turn around at an appropriate location and re-plan your route.

He took off his seat belt and bent over to pick up his cell phone. The stretching of his body caused a slight dull pain in his chest. He pressed the bones with his hand and thought the injury should not be serious.

He opened the door and got out of the car, and the cool morning breeze rushed over him. You Shulang looked at the car in front of him that was rear-ended, his eyes paused, and he frowned slightly.

Won the prize, luxury car.

He took a long step and walked towards the car. On the way, he glanced at the detached bumper and the dented rear end of the car, and quickly evaluated in his mind whether his car insurance could fully compensate for the loss of the luxury car.

He had always been emotionally stable, but now he was feeling a little depressed. However, the responsibility was his, and he could not blame anyone else. He had rehearsed the worst-case scenario a few steps before, and had roughly thought about how to deal with it.

Walking to the car, You Shulang gently knocked on the window of the cab. The dark window blocked his view, and the morning light hitting the glass did not bring the expected brightness. Instead, the reflected light coldly cut through the air and You Shulang's apologetic eyes.

The car window did not roll down immediately. The 180-cm-tall You Shulang's bent posture made his chest hurt slightly. His restraint did not allow him to peek into the car through the front windshield, but he was afraid that the driver would have an accident due to the collision.

When he raised his hand to tap the glass again, the window slowly fell down. The warm current poured out of the car, intertwined with the cool morning breeze, and merged into one.

As the car window slowly fell, You Shulang saw a man's face. The first thing he saw was that he was handsome. His facial features were strong and deep, and his facial lines were neat and clean. His skin was not white, but a light wheat color that looked calm and healthy.

You Shulang was slightly startled, not because of the man's unexpectedly superior appearance, but because of the sudden feeling of confusion and disharmony in his heart.

Having worked as an office director for four years, You Shulang believes that he has the ability to judge people by their faces.

But the first impression the person in front of him gave him was contradictory.

He has an oppressive and sharp appearance, but he has a pair of gentle eyes.

The man's shaggy hair half-covered his eyebrows, his eyes were deep, and there was a gentleness between his brows. His hair was gently blown by the morning breeze, moving naturally and smoothly against the wind, which suddenly reminded You Shulang of "clear wind and bright moon".

At this moment, the man smiled with a broad and thoughtful look in his eyes, and said with a good temper: "We were in a car accident, right?"

You Shulang finally reacted and said with great apology: "I was distracted while driving and rear-ended your car. The responsibility lies with me. I am very sorry."

The man opened the door and got out of the car, looking worried: "Are you hurt?"

You Shulang was slightly surprised by the man's height. He was not short, but the man in front of him was obviously more than half a head taller than him.

He had just been standing very close to the car, leaving little space for the man to step after getting off, so now the two bodies were only a fist apart. You Shulang's skin was steamed by the heat brought out by the man, and he felt uncomfortable.

He took a half step back without leaving a trace, keeping the two of them at a suitable social distance, and replied politely: "I'm fine, are you okay? If you feel unwell, go to the hospital for a check-up in time."

The man's brows softened: "I'm not hurt either."

"Then let's take a look at your car." You Shulang said earnestly, "Since the rear-end collision is entirely my fault, I will compensate you for all your losses."

"The car is not important, as long as no one is injured in the accident." The man said with no annoyance on his face, and even sympathetically, "I just returned home and don't know how to deal with such a traffic accident. What can I do with you?"

You Shulang heaved a sigh of relief. At least the man in front of him was not a difficult person. Because of his wrong prediction just now, he felt even more sorry: "I will now notify the traffic police and the insurance company to let them determine the responsibility and collect evidence. This may take up some of your time."

The man nodded: "It's okay, fortunately the scenery nearby is nice."

You Shulang looked around. He had missed the road sign while answering the phone and had taken the wrong road, entering a rural road. At this moment, there were only farmlands around him, and there was no good scenery to speak of. His eyes returned to the man again, and he saw tiny starlight in his eyes.

You Shulang lowered his eyes, smiled, and said "thank you" sincerely.

After making the call, You Shulang went back to work. He had returned home from vacation to attend a project promotion meeting. He had been rushing to catch a car, a plane, and a deadline since the early morning, but now an accident happened less than 15 kilometers away from the company. It was definitely too late to attend the meeting, which made him a little frustrated.

"Is it cold?"

The man's voice came from afar. You Shulang looked up and saw the man who had just enjoyed the "scenery" coming towards him slowly. Even though he was walking on a country dirt road, his expression was still gentle, without any boredom on his face, as if all the complexity of the world had never entered his eyes.

Because You Shulang was in a hurry, he did not change his clothes after getting off the plane. Now he was still wearing a short-sleeved polo shirt. It was not very cold in the early morning of May, but it was not warm either.

He stroked the exposed skin on his arm and replied lightly: "Not bad."

"Mind wearing my clothes for a while?"

The man took off his long black windbreaker and hung it on his arm, waiting for You Shulang's decision, acting very gentlemanly and without any offense.

You Shulang saw that the man was still wearing a long-sleeved thick coat under his windbreaker, and after a little consideration, he generously accepted the favor: "Thank you, my clothes are all in the suitcase, and it is really inconvenient to take them out."

The man draped the windbreaker over You Shulang's shoulders. The windbreaker was very long, almost covering his feet and completely wrapping up his body.

After putting on the windbreaker, You Shulang regretted it almost immediately. The clothes still carried the man's body temperature and the faint scent of woody perfume. This sensory stimulation made him feel very uncomfortable.

But, it would be hypocritical to return it.

"Fan Xiao." The man stretched out his hand and said with a smile, "Don't call me 'you' anymore. It sounds awkward."

You Shulang suppressed the strangeness in his heart, and also stretched out his hand and gave his name: "You Shulang. Although it is a bit inappropriate to say this in the face of an accident, I still want to say, it's nice to meet you."

A gentle smile appeared on the man's face again, and he slightly tightened his clasped hands: "I am also very happy to meet you."

It was cloudy today, with the sky changing from bright to dark. At this moment, the sunlight broke through the clouds and shone on the man head-on. You Shulang squinted at the reflection of the metal pendant on his neck.

"It's the Four-Faced Buddha." The man turned sideways to avoid the light. "I grew up in Thailand. This is the god we believe in."

When the stress response in his eyes slowly dissipated, You Shulang saw clearly that the pendant was not small in size. It was not the same as the Four-Faced Buddha he saw when he was traveling in Thailand. The face of the Buddha did not look compassionate, and even a little fierce.

He retracted his gaze at the right time and said with a smile: "It seems that we took the same flight back home. Did you take the wrong way too?"

Before the man could answer, You Shulang's phone rang. He glanced at the screen, a faint smile in his eyes.

"Sorry, I have to take a call," he said.

It's Lu Zhen, You Shulang's lover.

The young man who just woke up was acting a little spoiled, still complaining about You Shulang abandoning him and returning home early. You Shulang coaxed him with a good temper, and his gentleness and soothingness made it hard to blame him.

After hanging up the phone, the man who automatically avoided and then automatically returned asked with a smile: "Girlfriend? Mr. You is so gentle."

You Shulang did not comment, but looked at the flashing police lights in the distance and said, "Finally they are here."

After dealing with the relevant matters, You Shulang exchanged contact information with Fan Xiao. Due to the urgency of the work, he went ahead. When the car drove out, the tall man in the rearview mirror had the windbreaker he had just returned hanging in his arms. His face was gentle and his smile was kind, like a spring breeze blowing on his face.

He took out a cigarette box from his pocket, flicked out a cigarette with his slender and powerful fingers, took it out with his teeth and held it in his mouth without lighting it.

The expensive windbreaker in his hands was thrown casually into the field beside him, and his empty hands slapped each other as if he was disgusted by the dirty dust on the garbage.

Turning around and leaning against the wrecked rear end of the car, the sound of a cell phone keystroke was heard in the open space, followed by the sound of the wind waiting for the call to be connected, but it was only a very short sound before the call was quickly picked up by the other party.

A low, scattered voice sounded, and its long tail tone was cold and heartless.

"A68S57, a white Audi, hit me."

"How bad was the collision?" He raised his arm and slid his expensive watch across his wrist. "He delayed me for 38 minutes and 42 seconds."

The sun suddenly shone brightly, and the bright yellow Four-Faced Buddha shone brightly...
