Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

*One month later*

"Tsukki! Are you ready for the game on Saturday?" Yamaguchi yelled down the hall.

Kei Tsukishima frowned and turned towards his friend.

"Of course I am. But are you?"

Yamaguchi nodded eagerly.

"It's gonna be great! Hinata and Kegeyama have finally gotten their quick set down completely. And your blocking timing has improved a lot. I just hope Hinata gets better in defense.."

"Umm, yeah."

"Tsukki, it's been a month. Don't tell me you're still hung up about that girl."

Tsukishima shakes his head and walks away. Of course, he was still hung up over "that girl." That girl had become everything in a short amount of time. It hurt how easily he had gotten attached to her. But hadn't she felt the same? Clearly not. Otherwise, she would be the one yelling for him down the halls, not Yamaguchi.

Something about this whole thing just seemed off. Tsukishima just couldn't figure out what it was. But surely she would not have just left him for no reason… right?

"Tsukkiiiiiii, come on. What happened to you? Where did all your snarky comments go?" Hinata moaned.

"Same place your hight went, bean dip."

"YAYYY! You're back!"

Tsukishima rolled his eyes. This kid was gonna be the death of him.

"Tsukishima is back!!" Hinata yells as he runs down the halls.

Naturally, he runs right into me.

"Well, hi, Hinata." I say with a laugh.

He smiles and waves, eagerly.

"Did you hear? Tsukishima is back to his normal self! Yamaguchi kept saying something about some girl messing him up, but I think he is crazy. Tsukishima has way too much of an attitude for any girl. I think he's freaked out about volleyball. Actually, I haven't seen you talk to him in a while.. He's over there!!"

I had never seen so many words come out of a person at once.

"Umm, a girl? Hinata, could you find out more about her? I know that might be weird, but please."

He gives me a weird look and then nods.

"Wait, Lyn? It wasn't you, right?"

I laugh and shake my head before walking away.

So evidently, I had messed up Kei. Gosh, I was just trying to make it easier for both of us. But he had to go and be a big baby about it. I roll my eyes and walk into my Algebra class. (Do they do algebra here???-author) The teacher glances at me before waving me over to his desk.

"Lyn, I need to talk to you about your grade. Right now, you are failing. I think the best idea would be for you to get a tutor. Someone who can help you get better in here."

I stand there, shocked. How could I be failing? But a tutor didn't sound half bad. I wouldn't have to be at home as much.

"Oh. When would I meet with said tutor?"

"The first would be today, after the boys' volleyball practice."

"Is it a volleyball player?"

He nods and goes back to grading papers. I slowly walk back to my seat. Who all on the volleyball team was smart? Not Hinata at all. Most likely not Kageyama either. It could be Daichi or Oikawa. But…. what happens if it's…..Kei? If it happens, I will just have to deal with it, I guess.

The rest of the day goes by quickly until I'm sitting in the library reading a book about volleyball turns, waiting for my tutor to walk in.

"I'll be home once I'm done tutoring. Yes mom. I told you about this. I can walk home. No. It's probably some idiot boy. Yep. Ok bye."

I try not to focus on the voice. It sounds so familiar. Trying to pay more attention to the book, I zone out on everything around me. That is till there is a tap on my back.

"Excuse me. Are you the one I'm supposed to be tutoring?"

It's him. This had to be a joke.

"You have got to be kidding me."

I turn around and look him straight in the eyes.

"Hi there, Kei."

He frowns.

"You lost the right to call me that."

"Whatever, let's just get this over with."

His frown deepens as he sinks into the long couch right next to me. His leg brushes mine, and without a second glance, it says there. Our legs touch each other. He didn't seem fazed, but surely..

"So. Why do you need to be tutored?"

"Well, I have an F in Algebra."

Kei, well, Tsuishima, as he wants me to call him, laughs. It's one of those laughs that you could listen to forever. Hearty and light all at the same time. Gosh, I missed that laugh.

"You are an idiot." He says while looking in my eyes.

"Takes one to know one." I say with a smirk.

"Oh, I'm gonna wipe that smirk off your face real fast."

"Really? How?"

He pauses, seriously thinking. Then he smiles like the devil.

"This."

His hand reaches up and brushes my hair. Just like how he had in my room. Right before we kissed. I reach up and hold his hand against my head. I'm still smirking.

"Well, that didn't work. I guess I'll try something else…"

His other hand grabs my chin and lifts it up towards him. I try to keep smirking, just to see where this is going to end.

"Well? Tell me when to stop."

He slowly, ever so slowly, inches his head down towards mine. I don't do anything. Just look into his eyes. His gorgeous brown eyes. Like the color of hazelnut coffee.

"Kei?"

He pauses.

"Yes?"

"Would you hurry up?"

Now he smirks.

"I think I like having you panic about this."

I frown.

"Ha! I told you I would get you to not smirk."

With that, he lets go of my face and completely moves away from me. I just sat there, shocked at what had happened. Did he seriously just do that?

"Well, I think I did pretty well at smirking most of the time."

"Admit it, Lyn."

 I look at him, confused.

"Admit what?"

Kei rolls his eyes.

"You wanted me to kiss you."

I frown. What in the world? I was the one who left him. I could never say I wanted him to kiss me.

"No."

"Don't lie, Lyn, you suck at it."
