Chapter 40 - Chapter 38

Dawn.

Hell's Kitchen—a place full of simple folk.

Bang!

Rimuru ducked and slammed into a bald man's leg, instantly knocking him down.

By now, seven or eight gang members were already lying on the ground. They had been in the middle of a smuggling operation.

"Ah! Who are you? How dare you ruin the business of Kingpin, the underground emperor!"

Rimuru, dressed in a black trench coat and wearing a mask, spoke clearly and elegantly."Listen well—I am Hawkeye! I don't change my name or my surname. And you dare call yourself an underground emperor in front of me? Give Kingpin a message: he has seven days to transfer five hundred million U.S. dollars to this account, or I'll take his head!"

Huh?

Hearing the so-called Super Hero "Hawkeye" demanding money, the gang members froze.

Hawkeye?

Which Super Hero popped out of nowhere?

Not only did he destroy Kingpin's business, he even demanded five hundred million dollars. Was he really a Super Hero who punished evil and promoted good?

His heart was a hundred times darker than theirs!

Rimuru weighed the briefcase in her hand and nodded with satisfaction.

Kingpin truly lived up to his reputation as the "mandatory mob boss of the Novice Village." Clearing out tens of thousands of petty thieves wouldn't compare to taking down one Kingpin operation!

One million U.S. dollars. Finally, her financial crisis was somewhat relieved.

At least she now had enough for property fees—and to hire a chef!

Indeed, a person cannot grow rich without some ill-gotten gains, just as a horse cannot grow fat without night fodder!

"Now hand over all the cash on you. Immediately—right now!"

Huh?

The gang members were on the verge of tears. Not only did he take their transaction money, he even wanted the loose change on them.

Who exactly was the gang member here?

He was a Scrooge—a vampire!

Five minutes later.

Rimuru was satisfied and floated away, leaving behind a row of unconscious thugs.

The more Rimuru practiced, the more profound her hypnosis technique became.

Before leaving, she transformed into a responsible citizen of Chaoyang District and dialed 911, expecting the gang members to sleep soundly until they woke up in a jail cell.

When they woke up tomorrow morning, they might even receive a complimentary breakfast from the police.

No need to thank her—her service was simply that thoughtful and meticulous!

Rimuru put the briefcase into her stomach, still wanting more.

On the mask's display, Aiya's voice came through,"Master, I hacked into the police system and found a particularly heinous crime livestream. Two hostages are being severely beaten, and they've also had kerosene poured on them. It's extremely dangerous."

"What?!"

Rimuru was shocked. Murder, arson, and livestreaming it online?

That was far too arrogant!

"What's their location? Track, decode, and send me the coordinates immediately!"

"Yes, Master!"

Rimuru took the Wind God out of her stomach.

Aiya's technology was ahead of its entire era; the internet was her domain.

Seconds later, the Wind God's tail flame cut through the sky toward the crime scene.

Online, the sudden livestream instantly drew attention.

At first, everyone thought it was a prank—a desperate attempt to gain views.

But when viewers saw the kidnappers genuinely beating the two until they were covered in wounds, the chat fell silent.

Especially when kerosene was poured over them—everyone watching felt a cold chill.

The person in green clothing with the comical headwear was familiar to many; he'd been popular recently.

He was just an ordinary guy who acted like the comic-book Super Hero Qi Xuan. Everyone affectionately called him Kick-Ass!

Many viewers called 911 at once, hoping the police could save them.

But they were destined to be disappointed. The livestream took place in a disguised studio, and even if police found the exact location, they wouldn't arrive in time.

Dave, covered in wounds, was overwhelmed with regret. He had already found someone he cared about. He had already decided to give up being a Super Hero.

But because he placed his trust in the wrong person, not only was he about to die, he had dragged Mindy and Big Daddy down with him.

It was all his fault!

Bang!

A gunshot rang out, and the studio's spotlight shattered.

A gunfight erupted immediately, and hope reignited in Dave's heart.

When he saw a small figure in the darkness, Dave nearly broke down in tears.

Mindy—Mindy was alive. He had watched her get shot and fall from the balcony; he thought she had been killed because of him!

This was too good—far too good!

The battlefield shifted instantly; the enemy's cunning was beyond anything Dave imagined.

The kerosene on Big Daddy ignited, and Mindy was exposed to the flames. Because she was too worried about Big Daddy, Mindy let her guard down, and the situation grew critical.

Were they doomed? Who could save them?

Just then, a deafening sound filled the studio.

A massive hole blew open in the ceiling.

When Dave saw the high-tech metal armor descending, he was ecstatic.

Iron Man?

No!

It was the Silver Armored War God!

"Silver Armored War God, save Big Daddy—he's going to burn to death!"

Rimuru didn't waste words. She rushed to Big Daddy and placed a barrier over him, shielding him from the flames.

Then, using the heat-manipulation effect of the [Black Flame] skill, she extinguished all fire.

Within seconds, every flame on Big Daddy vanished.

This…

Dave was stunned. Big Daddy—severely burned and barely alive—was stunned too.

He didn't even understand how the fire was extinguished, but he had no time to question it.

"Don't mind me! Go help Mindy!"

Clap!

Rimuru slapped a Recovery Potion onto him, and his injuries healed rapidly—visible to the naked eye.

The pain vanished. Even the scars disappeared.

Big Daddy was dumbfounded.

How was this possible?!

Life restored in an instant. Who exactly was the Silver Armored War God?

Dave, who watched the whole thing, was completely speechless, his mouth wide enough to fit a bowling ball.

Clang! Clang!

With two crisp sounds, Rimuru shattered Big Daddy's chains and placed an M4 in his hands.

"She's your daughter. Go save her yourself."

Click.

Big Daddy pulled back the M4's bolt and said coldly,"From this day forward, my life belongs to you, Master."

Without another word, he darted into the darkness.

Rimuru moved to Dave, broke his chains, and slapped a Recovery Potion onto him just as smoothly.

Dave had already been stunned while watching Big Daddy get saved. Experiencing it himself felt even more surreal.

Bringing people back from the brink of death—regrowing flesh and bone—was this what a true Super Hero could do?

It was terrifying!

It made Dave even more discouraged. Compared to this Super Hero Qi Xuan, he was truly nothing.

Rimuru patted Dave's shoulder and said gently,"I know you. You have the heart of a hero."

Dave's eyes instantly filled with tears; he wanted to cry but held it in.

What had he just heard?

A true Super Hero—Silver Armored War God—knew him, acknowledged him, and recognized his hero's heart!

That meant he wasn't a failure after all!

Dave's heart was simple—he was just an ordinary person who yearned to be a hero.

Just like Mumen Rider from One-Punch Man—criticized or not, undeniably inspiring.

Rimuru said,"To be a hero, passion is not enough. You must gain real skills. Starting tomorrow, train properly with Big Daddy."

"Yes!"

Dave Lizewski stood tall, head high, his goal clearer than ever.

These drug dealers were already in disarray from Mindy's attacks. With Big Daddy joining in, it was like adding wings to a tiger—with the Silver Armored War God watching over everything.

In just one minute, the drug dealers were completely wiped out.
