Chapter 26 - A Taste of Despair

On their way to the stadium, Sato and Shigure ran through the streets when something caught Sato's attention. A blond haired girl with long twintails stood on a bench, unbothered by the disaster around her reading a newspaper.

"You should evacuate from here." Sato said as he stopped for a moment in front of her

"Oh my, is that so?"

The girl slowly put the newspaper down, only to reveal her true identity.

"I didn't notice that at all."

"You!"

Shigure was furious when he saw her, clenching his fist.

"Me!" The girl exclaimed, changing her attitude to a more joyful one.

Sato was confused about what was happening, looking repeatedly at the girl or Shigure.

"She is the girl that talked with Eryon yesterday!"

Shigure explained as Sato wanted to retreat, his hand being caught by her.

"Where do you think you are going now, you warned me that I should go to safety and now you are running away, that is cold."

The girl made a puppy face, batting her eyelashes at Sato.

"Why don't you take me to safety yourself?"

Tsk, what is wrong with her?

"Let go of my hand."

"But why, you know, you smell so good, your suffering, the pain, the despair…I can't take it anymore,"

The girl sat up from the bench, leaning in until her face was inches from his.

"Can I taste you?"

As the girl approached Sato more and more, she suddenly let go of his hand, retreating a little from the boys. In the place where she stood a purple flame landing.

"I knew you were behind all of this, Child of Despair."

Irina stood on a rooftop, with a frown on her face as she looked at her.

"Irina! I thought that you went ahead."

"And this is what I did, but at one point I felt how my power weakens so I came to check what was going on."

…So she came back because I wasn't close enough for her to access all of her powers…sound like her.

"Irina, what a beautiful name for such a nasty person."

The Child of Despair said, taunting Irina.

"Don't you think I don't know your tricks already girl. Such petty words won't work with me."

"Boo, boring, you are not fun."

The girl stepped beside Sato and lightly pushed his shoulder with her elbow.

"Come on Sato, tell her she is boring."

"Well she…is not…exactly boring…" Sato stuttered while he said this, passing the message clearly to Irina regardless.

"Well, if I am that boring, I am gonna let you two deal with her. And hurry, she just wants to hold you here."

Irina in an instant transformed into a purple flame and went ahead, without caring anymore.

"Well done, partner."

The girl raised her hand, as she waited for Sato to clap it.

"Enough with this mockery, what are you after, what have you done to Eryon?"

Shigure erupted as he approached her.

"What I am after…What is the poor me after…let me think…"

She raised one of her fingers at her chin, thinking.

"Ohh, right, right, right. I am after your suffering."

She broke into laughter, not caring about how loud she was.

"You…"

Shigure approached her, clearly wanting to show her a piece of his mind, not caring anymore of his position or anything else.

Sato then pulled him by his sleeve, making him snap from his blind rage.

"It is not worth it. We should go."

"…You are right." Shigure said, bowing his head a little.

"What a heartwarming moment, I almost want to cry."

A tear formed at her eye, as she pulled out a napkin to wipe it.

"Yes, you should go, I am sure the hero with daggers will want you to be there."

"Hero with daggers…it can't be."

Sato rushed towards the stadium again with Shigure behind him.

The Child of Despair stayed behind, waving to them.

"Yes, go to your despair." She said, a wide smile forming on her face.

Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, Butterfly dodged waves of black mana that were sent in her direction by Eryon who swung his sword ferociously.

This guy really doesn't know when to quit…

Looking ahead she saw how they were almost at the stadium.

Just a little more.

Once there, Butterfly quickly entered on a small entrance, advancing now on the long hallway to the center.

Eryon stopped in place once he lost Butterfly from sight, his rage only growing as he saw the big walls of the stadium.

With a slow move he raised his sword above his head, a large amount of black mana beginning to gather in his sword.

With a swift move, he brought the unstable sword down, pointed at the wall.

Just then, a tsunami of mana slashed with ease through the hard concrete of the stadium, following Butterfly as she was still on her way to the soccer field.

This can't be good.

Looking behind her, Butterfly could see how the wave quickly approached her, in front of her being the opening to the field.

She dashed to the exit, hoping that she would make it.

Time seemed like it stopped as every step that she made would bring her closer to the light, slowing down now meaning her elimination.

She jumped on the side as she reached the exit, fortunately making it just in time as the wave caught up, erasing everything in its path.

"That was too close…" She said as she got up from the ground.

From the erased wall and the thick dust screen, heavy steps could be heard approaching as a red light began to glitter, getting bigger with every step.

Eryon came into the stadium, facing Butterfly once again.
