Chapter 7 - Rapid Growth

Mair looked at His assistant coach, "Has He not been running out of position this whole time? Are they all in position?"

Hearing the Head Coach say this, the assistant coach immediately frowned, thought for a moment, and then gasped, "Hiss!"

"Is it a coincidence or...?"

"Let's see!"

The match continued on the field, Lin Hao was indeed a bit dazed, after all, for Him, defending Manchester City was still a bit too strenuous.

Manchester City was like a blunt knife chopping meat, a frog in warm water, piling up like roof tiles, pushing up layer by layer from the wings and the half-spaces, easily shaking off Lin Hao.

But precisely because of this, the Head Coach Mair observed more clearly that Lin Hao indeed had positional awareness.

Every time He was shaken off, and a teammate went to help defend, He was able to move into the open space again to defend Manchester City's players.

However, since His World Cup match, He had never played a game; if He did, it was on an amateur field, and He used to play on amateur fields before. How did He learn this?

But very quickly, Mair discovered a fact, a fact He was a bit unwilling to believe.

He didn't seem to have learned it; it was just that He observed too diligently. After observing, and as soon as He looked up and saw something, He almost simultaneously made a judgment and moved to cover.

The positional sense of professional players is basically a habit developed over many years combined with on-the-spot observation.

But Lin Hao, He seemed to be able to judge just by observing and thinking.

Of course, this didn't have much impact on the match; in the end, Arsenal still lost the game two-nil.

But it did allow the Head Coach to see Lin Hao's change, and Lin Hao himself also verified His inner thoughts. He was sweating, His eyes shining brightly as He looked into the distance, seeing Fernandinho, "You wait for me, Fernandinho!"

Fernandinho looked at the seemingly very happy Lin Hao. He hadn't paid much attention to Lin Hao during the match, only knowing that He was constantly being beaten, so He didn't understand why Lin Hao would say such a thing at this moment.

But seeing Lin Hao look a bit like He was going crazy, Fernandinho ignored Him and went to celebrate with His teammates, having secured a good start.

The next day, on the training ground, the anticipated scenario of Lin Hao not keeping up with training did not materialize.

Lin Hao was an amateur, He admitted it Himself, but Lin Hao's talent was also something everyone who continued to watch acknowledged.

Lin Hao had no problems with the basics of football; it was during combined training, especially during intra-squad matches, that Lin Hao's performance was still disastrous. But His teammates also noticed that Lin Hao truly no longer struggled to find His position.

This progress was remarkably fast.

Lin Hao was like a dry sponge suddenly thrown into a lake, absorbing water frantically.

While most people weren't paying attention, Lin Hao was improving at an astonishing speed.

This kid was more tired than anyone, but more motivated than anyone. The journey to training every day was enough to exhaust an average person, yet His eyes would light up when the training session ended.

After a few days, His teammates all became familiar with Lin Hao and found Him to be very interesting.

The second match was on August 19th, also a heavyweight clash, against the Blues, Chelsea!

In just the ninth minute of the match, Pedro of Chelsea scored a goal, taking a one-nil lead.

Ten minutes later, Morata scored again, and within twenty minutes, Chelsea was leading two-nil.

Their star player Hazard didn't even start this match.

It was an easy two-nil within twenty minutes.

Between Chelsea and Arsenal, influenced by their respective legendary coaches, there was some animosity, but it wasn't to the point of a life-or-death struggle.

But seeing the opposing team in a pickle, the home Chelsea fans were also very happy, singing a song they had composed: "There's only one Champions League winner in London, and that's Chelsea."

The match saw a turning point in the thirty-seventh minute when Mkhitaryan scored a goal, pulling one back for Arsenal.

The score remained unchanged until the seventieth minute of the match.

In the seventieth minute of the match, Arsenal requested a substitution, bringing on Lin Hao once again.

This was quite unexpected for the fans and even Lin Hao Himself.

The traveling Arsenal fans, seeing this, couldn't help but curse, "Is the Head Coach out of His mind?"

"Last match, there was truly no hope, so we didn't say anything, but at two-one, we're not without a chance! Why bring Him on?"

"This is practically a surrender substitution!"

"I'm annoyed just seeing this kid now. Although it's not His fault, His arrival itself was an annoying thing, and He's causing one annoying thing after another!"

And Chelsea fans, of course, wouldn't miss any opportunity to mock. All the fans in the stadium unanimously shouted, "Amateur team deserves amateur players! Amateur team deserves amateur players..."

Lin Hao frowned. The Head Coach hadn't said anything to Him, just told Him to go on, which made Him a bit confused as to why.

But since there was an opportunity, He definitely wanted to put in two hundred percent effort to respond and verify His thoughts from when He was off the field.

Lin Hao was still playing on the left wing. This time, Saka didn't even get a chance to come on as a substitute, but Lin Hao did.

In the seventy-third minute of the match, Lin Hao made an off-the-ball run down the left wing. It wasn't a very reasonable run, but Azpilicueta didn't take Lin Hao seriously and didn't tightly mark Him. This allowed Xhaka to see an opportunity and pass the ball to Lin Hao.

It was at this point that Azpilicueta started to chase Lin Hao.

Lin Hao immediately controlled the ball, then flicked His ankle and chipped the ball up again. Azpilicueta smiled slightly. Although He had just been sprinting, He had already slowed down as He got closer. He knew this kid would definitely try the chip-over dribble.

The key was, even if He didn't try it, Azpilicueta was confident in catching up and continuing to defend. When a defending player has this kind of confidence, it's the attacking player's biggest failure.

Azpilicueta also firmly shielded the ball, held off Lin Hao, passed the ball to His teammate, and launched a counter-attack.

The Chelsea fans in the stands let out a strange cry, "Oh~ Ooh-hoo!"

This was to mock Lin Hao.

But Lin Hao showed a maturity far beyond His age. On the surface, He acted as if He hadn't heard anything. In reality, He truly didn't have time to pay attention to these things; He was thinking about why Azpilicueta was able to defend Him.

The answer He got: good luck!

Azpilicueta's strength was undeniable, but His overconfidence meant that His successful defense this time was purely a guess.

In the seventy-fifth minute of the match, Xhaka passed the ball to Lin Hao again. This time, facing Azpilicueta, Lin Hao truly showed the fearless spirit of a young person; He chipped the ball up again.

Azpilicueta hadn't expected it, but upon reaching the attacking player, Azpilicueta had already slowed down!
