The farm was peaceful under the moonlight. Slowking slept soundly, acting as the housekeeper while Kaito was away.
Kaito had left Machamp to accompany him to the National Pokémon Competition.
In the forest, the Hatterene and Shiinotic tribes released dense, shimmering pink mist at night, generating Fairy-type energy due to the Pixie Plate buff. The entire farm was thoroughly protected by Aggron, Carbink, Hatterene, and Primeape.
A Pelipper arrived late, delivering a package to Furret. It had found a Mega Stone in the mountains and wanted to give it to Kaito.
The Bye Advantage
The semi-finals began. Kaito drew a bye, advancing directly to the next round. He suspected his luck bonuses were at play.
Two days later, he drew another bye, entering the final round just by sitting there.
Long Yuling, however, was exhausted. Her wish was to have a proper 6v6 battle with Kaito. She fought with bloodshot eyes in her next two matches, with her Dragon Taming Power exploding at the critical moment to defeat her opponent. She reached the final round, with only one goal in mind: Challenge Kaito!
The Final Showdown
Nine A.M. The Modu Pokémon Gym was packed. This battle would determine the new generation's number one person in Dragon Country.
The host welcomed Long Yuling ("Dragon Queen") and Kaito ("Master").
Kaito walked out slowly, his expression composed. He wore white, with a black cloak draped over his shoulders, embroidered with golden patterns. His cloak fluttered in the wind.
The two faced each other on the stage, their powerful auras seemingly wrestling in the air.
The referee announced: "Let the match begin!"
Long Yuling sent out a Goodra. Kaito sent out his ace: Gardevoir!
Goodra's profile: Name: Goodra, Name: None, Ability: Sap Sipper, Type: Dragon-type, Level: Lv. 74 (Elite Four-tier), Individual Values: All 31, Potential: Elite Four-tier.
Long Yuling shouted: "Dragon Pulse!"
Kaito just stood there, his expression undisturbed. Gardevoir took the full force of the Dragon Pulse!
Long Yuling's pupils constricted. "She's... completely unharmed?!"
Kaito then gave his command: "Moonblast!"
Gardevoir raised her hands, constructing a pink-hued full moon. Long Yuling commanded: "Protect!" But Gardevoir's Moonblast shattered the barrier instantly.
Boom!! Goodra was sent flying backward and fell to the ground.
Long Yuling's mind was in a daze. What kind of move was Moonblast that it could defeat Goodra so easily?
Long Yuling sent out her next Pokémon, but the subsequent battles were as strange as the first. Her Pokémon's attacks seemed to have no effect on Gardevoir. Dragon-type moves had absolutely no effect.
Dragonite fell instantly. Long Yuling's face was numb. Why were most of her attacks so ineffective?
The referee announced: "Dragonite is unable to battle! Gardevoir wins! The winner is contestant Kaito!" Kaito had swept the entire team with just Gardevoir!
The World-Shaking Announcement
Kaito did not leave. He asked the host to hand him the microphone.
"I also ask the reporters to record what I'm about to say, as this will be news that will shake the entire world."
Long Yuling stood frozen in place. An extremely absurd, yet somewhat plausible, idea emerged in her mind.
Kaito spoke at a steady pace, addressing the audience across the nation and the entire world:
"As everyone knows, there are seventeen types of Pokémon, a conclusion that was established many years ago."
"However, I am here today to clarify."
"There are not only seventeen types!"
"There is also a new type!"
"I call it —"
"Fairy Type!"
