"Seamless communication between humans and Pokémon," Kaito declared, "is no longer a fantasy. The solution lies in this beautiful flower in my hand."
He held up a vibrant Friend Flower. To the naked eye, it looked like a normal blossom, but rhythmic patterns of light flickered across its petals.
"I call this the Friend Flower. If a person and a Pokémon touch this flower simultaneously, they can converse telepathically."
The Northern Bond
Kaito invited a volunteer, Chen Meng, a middle-aged man from the north, to the stage. Chen released his old partner, a Stoutland. The dog was a veteran of many rescues, its long, coffee-colored fur thick and warm.
Chen Meng gripped the flower, his hands trembling. Stoutland placed a massive paw upon the petals. In an instant, a faint glow connected them.
"Hey there, old pal~" The voice echoed in Chen Meng's mind—deep, resonant, and full of affection. For the first time in over a decade, the linguistic barrier vanished. Tears welled in the man's eyes. Stoutland licked his face, its tail wagging like a propeller.
"Master... it's true," Chen Meng choked out. "I can hear him!"
Kaito pushed the flower back toward Chen. "Keep it. Consider it a reward for your demonstration. Soon, these flowers will be mass-produced and sold at the price of a standard Poké Ball. This is not a luxury for the rich; it is a bridge for every family to find harmony."
The world erupted. Skepticism, which had been high, evaporated instantly because the words came from the man who discovered the Fairy Type. In the Modu National Research Institute, Su Baiyun sighed in admiration. Kaito wasn't just a researcher; he was a revolutionary.
Mutated Harvest and the Artist
That night, Kaito lay on a bench under the frosty moonlight, holding a Leppa Berry the size of a fist.
[Restorative Leppa Berry]: A mutated fruit that restores a massive amount of internal energy and increases the recovery rate by 50% for one hour.
Kaito took a bite, the sweet and sour juice bursting with a unique aroma. He shared half with Arcanine, who wagged its fluffy tail in its sleep. Kaito felt at peace. His territory was expanding, and if he ran out of space in the real world, he still had the vast, untapped resources of the Hisui Realm.
Nearby, a new addition to the farm was at work: Smeargle, the Painter Pokémon.
Smeargle was using the fluid from its paintbrush-like tail to draw on Mimikyu's cloth. Mimikyu had requested a more detailed "Pikachu" design, wanting to be liked by others. Pichu stood by, shrugging with a look of "just be yourself" on its face. It liked Mimikyu for who it was, not for its costume.
Smeargle accidentally smudged yellow paint on its own forehead. Shhh— A thin stream of water washed the paint away. Piplup stood there, puffing out its chest and waving off any potential thanks.
"Really, no need for special thanks," the penguin gestured arrogantly. Smeargle scratched its head, wondering if it should thank the penguin anyway.
Kaito has launched a global movement of harmony! With the Friend Flower set to change the world and his Mutated Berries reaching peak quality, will Kaito's next goal be to establish a worldwide distribution network, or will a new mysterious mutated seed found by the Alolan Dugtrio lead him to a different discovery?
