Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Morning Run

Completely exhausted, Masao Tanaka went home, ate dinner, and rested early.

The alarm clock for six o'clock the next morning rang on time.

Masao Tanaka, whose body ached all over, struggled to get out of bed.

He had originally planned to give up his morning run, but then he thought of Yukinoshita Yukino.

He gritted his teeth, washed up, and went to school.

...

Arriving at school, Masao Tanaka first went to the restroom near the sports field to change into his sportswear.

By the time he was ready and arrived at the sports field, it was five minutes before seven o'clock.

Masao Tanaka easily spotted the beautiful figure standing by the edge of the field and walked over.

"Good morning, Xuezhixia Classmate."

Yukinoshita Yukino nodded, "Good morning, Tanaka-kun, you're very punctual."

"Kun? Have I successfully evolved from a bacterium to a human?"

"Of course." Yukinoshita Yukino smiled.

"Given your excellent performance in arriving on time, I'll temporarily allow you to evolve from a bacterium to a human."

"Why is there a concept of devolution?"

"Of course, if you don't start training soon, you'll quickly devolve into Tanaka-kin."

After a brief chat with Yukinoshita Yukino, Masao Tanaka started jogging around the sports field.

Yukinoshita Yukino knew her stamina wasn't good, so she didn't jog with Masao Tanaka but found a spot to watch.

Five minutes later, Masao Tanaka returned to the starting point, slightly out of breath.

Yukinoshita Yukino checked the time.

"It took you five minutes to run one lap, Tanaka-kin, you really surprise me. How long do you think it takes a normal adult male to walk a thousand meters?"

Masao Tanaka panted heavily and asked, puzzled, "How long?"

"Ten minutes, and one lap of the field is four hundred meters, which means your running speed is even slower than a normal person walking."

"How is that possible!" Masao Tanaka's eyes widened, finding it hard to believe.

He admitted he was a bit slow, but he was still running; how could it be slower than walking?

Yukinoshita Yukino ignored Masao Tanaka's shock and continued.

"Since you're just starting to train, I don't expect you to run fast. Even if you walk slowly, as long as you can exercise for an hour, it's fine."

Hearing this, Masao Tanaka continued to run around the sports field.

Although Yukinoshita Yukino said she had no requirements for his running speed, he still sped up a little.

However, he couldn't keep it up for long and had to slow down.

Yukinoshita Yukino, who had been observing Masao Tanaka, naturally noticed this.

Although she didn't say anything, the smile on her lips showed that she was very happy at the moment.

[Although a bit weak, at least he has ambition, which is not bad.]

...

Twenty minutes later, Masao Tanaka's face was covered in sweat, and his breathing became erratic.

It was already difficult to continue running, so he could only walk.

After another twenty-odd minutes, Masao Tanaka's legs felt like they were filled with lead, and even walking became very strenuous.

His speed dropped another level.

In the last twenty minutes, he only walked one lap around the field.

...

Looking at the half-dead Masao Tanaka, Yukinoshita Yukino walked over.

"Very good, today's morning exercise is complete. Pack up and go back to the classroom."

"Fi... Finally finished?"

Masao Tanaka sat on the ground with a sigh of relief, gasping for air.

His face covered in sweat, he had to take off his glasses, revealing the eyes hidden beneath the lenses.

Yukinoshita Yukino only glanced at him and lost interest.

Just like Masao Tanaka's face, his eyes were also very ordinary; because his face was a bit chubby, his eyes looked a little small.

Due to his previous irregular schedule, even after two days of recovery, Masao Tanaka's eyes still showed bloodshot veins.

Yukinoshita Yukino waited a few minutes, and when Masao Tanaka had recovered enough, she continued.

"Alright, you've recovered some energy, so don't sit here. Get up quickly.

By the way, you usually eat lunch alone, right?"

Masao Tanaka propped himself up with his hands and stood, nodding at her words.

"I eat lunch alone."

"Then you can come to the Service Club for lunch from now on. It's quieter there.

I can also monitor your diet."

Masao Tanaka agreed to Yukinoshita Yukino's suggestion; the Service Club was indeed a good place for lunch.

After speaking, Masao Tanaka went to the restroom to tidy up and change into his school uniform.

When he came out, he saw the back of Yukinoshita Yukino, who should have left early, not far away, and felt a little touched.

[As expected of Yukinoshita Yukino, although she appears cold, she has a very kind heart and takes her requests so seriously.]

"I also need to work hard to lose weight."

With someone supervising him, Masao Tanaka felt full of motivation to lose weight.

...

Returning to the classroom, there was still half an hour before class started, and only about half of the students had arrived.

Masao Tanaka sat in his seat, leaning back against the chair.

At this moment, he felt an unprecedented sense of relaxation and comfort.

Yesterday's and this morning's training had completely exhausted him.

After a while, when class was about to begin.

Kawasaki Saki, who sat in front of Masao Tanaka, arrived late.

She was yawning, looking like she hadn't woken up yet.

[Kawasaki Saki must also be very tired.]

At home, she had to take care of her younger siblings, and after school, she had to work part-time.

Her purpose for working part-time was not to supplement the family income, but to earn money for tutoring fees to get into a good university.

Therefore, after she returned home every day, she probably studied until very late.

[Kawasaki Saki works so hard, her academic performance must be excellent, right?]

Masao Tanaka suddenly thought of the original owner's grades.

Because he was bullied before, the original owner didn't like school much, and his enthusiasm for learning was also very poor, almost in a state of giving up.

He got into Sobu High partly by luck, guessing a few multiple-choice questions correctly, and entered Sobu High with a barely passing score.

Out of over 180 people in his grade, if he remembered correctly, his overall ranking was last.

Only in mathematics was he not last; in everything else, he was last.

(Hachiman Hikigaya scored nine points in math, ranking last.)

Masao Tanaka didn't have much obsession with grades.

In his previous life, he had already graduated from university and completed a full academic career.

In this life, with the system, just listening in class and letting grades be what they may was fine.

After the four morning classes.

Masao Tanaka found that he seemed to be quite smart after all.

Courses like math and English were no problem at all; it was history and such that he truly couldn't grasp.
