Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Grotesque! The Path to the Supernatural!

The Green Giant was very, very large.

His physique looked like a squat, half-sized Ultraman.

Ian had considered that he might have "logged into" a future day in his dream, and he had also considered whether he was suffering from a magical curse that caused fixed-time cosmic exile.

However.

He never expected that this apocalyptic world would be on the same level as his DC Universe, and that he would actually see the Hulk's corpse in this world!

Yes, the Hulk.

The famous comic character who gets bigger and greener when angry and is said to possess limitless strength. Such an existence should not have appeared in Ian's second life.

"Oh, by my father... am I really seeing things?" Ian's throat couldn't help but twitch a few times. He felt a sense of the grotesque and bizarre shoot straight up to his head.

Is this the Marvel Universe?

No!

At least, not completely the Marvel Universe!

The Hulk's enormous body was like a small hill, and his skin was a cold, greenish-blue. His muscles were still bulging, and as he lay on his back, his hands were still held high in the air.

And it was the object shaking in the cold wind between the Hulk's hands that kept Ian, already shocked by the corpse of the Hulk, from fully recovering his senses.

Who wouldn't find this situation bizarre?

One could see.

The Hulk, who had a large hole in his chest, still maintained a tight grip with his hands raised to the sky. In his left hand, he was clutching a head with golden hair.

The golden-haired head's eyes were wide open, and the face was full of indignation and fury. The blood vessels in the neck and the torn skin were clearly visible, and they, like the golden hair, swayed in the wind.

The Hulk's other hand held the body portion belonging to this head. The muscular, tattered torso was clad in a deep blue uniform, with the Stars and Stripes, symbolizing American honor, visible on the back.

Wasn't that Homelander from the TV series The Boys, which Ian loved?

The Hulk and Homelander?

Two characters that had no business being together—their corpses had appeared so abruptly before Ian. Ian was completely unwilling to contemplate what was going on, or what had happened between the two before their death that led to the world becoming this way.

"I'm afraid I really am just dreaming, and I can indeed learn and level up in my dreams."

Ian felt that this was simply too fantastical. To be honest, it was crazy! He now just wanted to find a reliable doctor and get a custom-made treatment plan for himself.

Seriously.

If he didn't take a few pounds of medicine, Ian was afraid he wouldn't be able to keep his condition under control!

"What is more likely: that I am crazy, or that this world is crazy? This is such a difficult question to resolve," Ian couldn't help but let his thoughts wander.

He slowly approached the green behemoth.

The snow around the Hulk was smashed into a huge crater. Ian exerted great effort to touch the Hulk's skin. He was initially only curious about the texture of this creature's corpse.

However.

As his hand made contact with the solidified green blood on the green figure's body.

The next moment.

The System's voice abruptly sounded in his ear.

[You have come into contact with an unknown supernatural substance. A new Profession template has been unlocked. You may acquire a corrected Supernatural Profession by meeting the necessary conditions—[Berserker]]

Sure enough.

This System was increasingly leaning towards the style of a game System.

After hearing the prompt from his System, Ian only paused for a single second. Immediately afterward, he did not rush to check the conditions for the so-called [Berserker] profession.

"What a miraculous connection with my father's cause!" Ian's gaze was fixed on Homelander, whose body had truly reached a state of "plasmolysis" and was held high in the air by the Hulk's corpse.

He was like a small, skinny monkey on amphetamines, using all his strength to climb onto the Hulk's chest. He then intended to use the Hulk's arm as a tree trunk to climb toward Homelander's remains.

One could only say that young people's minds move quickly. If the Hulk's blood could unlock a Supernatural Profession template, then Ian believed Homelander's remaining blood would certainly have the same effect!

He wanted the [Berserker] profession!

And he also wanted the Supernatural Profession that Homelander would bring!

Perhaps the Supernatural Profession brought by Homelander could even help Ian get closer to his family! Thinking of this, Ian became incredibly excited, his whole body seemingly flooded with adrenaline.

He struggled to cling to the Hulk's arm, climbing and climbing.

Plop!

The downside of only studying and not exercising was revealed in this moment. Due to the crystallization of ice on the Hulk's body, Ian's strength could only support him for a climb of two or three meters at most.

Afterward, he slid back down as smoothly as if he were climbing a steel pole covered in lubricant.

"I don't believe it!"

Ian kept climbing.

Plop!

This time, he fell back down before even reaching three meters high.

"For the Fami-leee!"

Ian dashed and leaped again, scrambling upward with his hands and feet, but his shouting did not grant him astonishing strength. He only managed to climb about one-third of the way up the Hulk's arm.

"Plop~"

The familiar slide back down.

This time, Ian's muscles in both his arms and legs were completely drained to their limit.

It hurt, badly.

Sitting down hard on the Hulk's cold pectoral muscle, Ian's eyes were filled with resentment and confusion. He thought this wasn't scientific—why hadn't he erupted with power even after raising the flag of the Fami-lee?

"As expected! I still haven't fully integrated into the local way of life!" Ian shook his aching arms, feeling somewhat helpless. He looked up regretfully at Homelander's remains high above.

"Giving up is not escaping! We'll see about this tomorrow!" Ian's time estimation was always precise. Sure enough, just as he finished his bold proclamation.

The next moment.

Dong~

The first heavy chime of a clock immediately exploded in his ear. The sound was like the echo of an ancient cathedral, carrying some irresistible force, as if the entire world was twisting and dissolving within the chime.

Ian's soul was trembling.

Uncontrollable fear and dread surged within him.

Dong—Dong—

The second and third chimes followed quickly, and Ian's vision blurred instantly.

The Hulk's corpse, Homelander's ferocious head, the ice-sealed street—everything faded and collapsed within the chime, as if being sucked into some invisible vortex.

"Thump!"

This was the sound of his forehead kissing the desk.

Ian lifted his head.

He subconsciously looked at the peach-butt alarm clock on his desk, a birthday gift from his second brother Jordan last year, which let out a terrifying, cackling sound like an old woman.

[00:42]

As always.

The time pointed to the correct moment.
