"You know. A school in Switzerland."
A sharp rush of panic surged through him. He took a few deep breaths, trying to steady himself, but his expression had already begun to darken.
"Baby," he said carefully, "have you thought about this thoroughly?"
"Yes."
"Have you enrolled already?"
"The process should be completed tomorrow. I already met the academy's headmaster and the admissions counselor today. They flew here from Switzerland just to meet me. There shouldn't be any problems."
The realization that she had arranged all of this without telling him sent a tight knot through his chest. He inhaled slowly, fighting the turbulent emotions rising inside him.
"So… you're going to Switzerland?"
"Hm?" She blinked, confused, about to say no, but he spoke again before she could.
"That's very far, baby."
And then it clicked.
