Chapter 25 - The male lead controlled by the plot. 4

In the living room, Aeris saw his sister with a girl sitting beside her.

His eyes turned cold, clenching his first to suppress the fury surging within himself.

He recognised her instantly. Moni, Amara's close friend, and the person who had caused several misunderstandings between Freya and himself in the previous life.

The reason why he couldn't find Freya even after leaving no stone unturned was because of her.

Though her family was not as powerful as his, they could still erase all traces of Freya easily.

Most important, the reason he hated Moni even to the point of destroying her was because she was the main culprit behind his son's death.

After all her attempts at creating a rift between them failed, she retorted to kidnapping the heavily pregnant Freya and his eldest son.

When Aeris reached the crime site, he was asked to choose between his wife and son. After only a slight hesitation, he ultimately chose his pregnant wife.

The already somewhat mentally disturbed Moni kept her promise and jumped down the cliff with his son in her arms.

Leaving behind a vicious curse to never forget that they sacrificed their own blood and to never live in peace.

Ethan, his son, neither accused or begged Aeris to save him. He accepted the verdict calmly as if he had expected it all along.

Even to the very end of his life, he would be jolted awake by the nightmares of his son falling, regretting every moment.

Looking at the girl fidgeting nervously, it was hard to imagine that beneath the fair-looking young lady resided a vicious, mad soul capable of anything.

She was his first target of revenge and the person he hated the most in this life.

A tug at his sleeve pulled him back to reality abruptly cutting him out of the dark memories.

"Brother!" Amara cheerfully hopped to his side and took his arm.

"Hmm." Aeris responded coldly unlike his usual doting self. But Amara lost in her own fantasy didn't notice his indifference.

"Brother Aeris." Moni met his eyes but flustered, she quickly looked away, her cheeks blushing a deep red.

Aeris icy-cold face turned into disgust seeing her flustered appearance. However, since neither of the girls' eyes were on him, they missed it.

Amara lowered her head to hide the mocking smile. She knew that Moni was using her just to get close to her brother.

Despite knowing this, she still let herself be fooled. She had witnessed the crazy-ferocious girl behind the false gentle facade of Moni.

Yet she supported Moni in pursuing her brother. Someone as stupid and vicious as Moni would only hold back his brother, and her purpose of bringing him down becomes much easier.

With her elder brother out, her two half brothers were just clowns.

Looking at her friend, who was unable to raise her head, Amara giggled with amusement. But only she herself knew what actually amused her.

"Brother, we are going to the cinema to watch Director Ron's movie. The reviews are good and many of my friends also recommended it." She spoke coquettishly, swaying his arm.

"Don't you also like his movie? Come with us, okay?"

Unseen by her brother, she sneaked a playful wink at her friend.

Moni bit her lip bashfully, lowering her gaze. Her heart pounded with a mix of nervousness and faint anticipation.

"Not good." Aeris pulled his arm from her hold. "I am busy."

"Aunt, is lunch ready?" Aeris walked to the kitchen, ignoring the incredulous Amara and pale Moni.

"Young master, I was just about to call you. Should I place it on the table?"

"No need. I'll take it to my room myself."

The stunned girls hadn't moved from the spot. Aeris bypassed them without a glance.

Amara stood dazed, unable to accept the reality that he was the same brother who had always doted on her.

Her eyes turned red instantly. How could he treat her so rudely, especially in front of others?

Even if her feelings toward him were hypocritical, she still couldn't tolerate his coldness.

"Elder brother!" She shouted with a crying voice.

Despite how long she waited, he didn't look back. She stamped her foot and ran out crying,

Without Amara by her side, Moni didn't have the face to stay alone. She had to chase after Amara.

Back in the room, Aeris chuckled coldly. How could he not see his sister's ambition?

In the previous life, he nearly fell into her hand. Her betrayal was the last thing he expected.

Amara was more a daughter than a sister. He raised her from infancy, acting as both mother and father.

The memories of Amara following him like a shadow and calling "brother" sweetly were still vivid in his mind.

So when he learned that she was behind the commotion in the company, he was both heartbroken and disheartened. It took him several days to finally accept the harsh truth.

The Aeris of his past life, considering their relationship, sent her away abroad with sufficient financial assistance.

But it was different now. If she caused trouble, he wouldn't show any mercy.
