In the military camp outside Wolf's Den, numerous banners fluttered, with Gendry's own banner flying above them.
Beautiful military tents were arranged in a dense, orderly fashion, becoming more numerous and the sounds growing louder towards the center.
Roars, cheers, horses' screams, and clanging weapons filled the air.
A Tourney was underway beneath a temporary wooden grandstand.
This was the Triarchy's first competitive Tourney, and it was indeed lively, featuring not only Longspear jousting, archery, team combat, and mixed combat, but also mud wrestling and Sivasi flag, which were very popular in Essos.
The people beneath the grandstand cleared the ground, erected fences, built racetracks, and set up stands. Hundreds of thousands came to watch, the vast majority being Gendry's taxi soldiers.
People saw the Magistrate's fiancée, beautiful beyond compare despite her youth. Daenerys wore a black velvet gown with a square ruby necklace around her neck; black and red were the traditional colors of House Targaryen.
Daenerys anxiously watched the battleground below. The Knights had already begun to leave the field, and now the remaining masters were fighting. The person she loved was also competing.
"Princess, there's no need to fear. I heard that the liberator is invincible," said Aphra, Daenerys's young Attendant, who had a flat, round face and, though youthful, was extremely intelligent. She was a liberated slave girl, arranged by Gendry to be Daenerys's Attendant.
"Don't say 'I, your humble servant,' say 'I,'" Daenerys patiently corrected the young Attendant's grammatical error. Both the Old and New Gods of Westeros abhorred slavery, and if she were to return to Westeros, she could not have those around her exhibiting the habits of slaves.
Gendry rode a black horse clad in black armor, wielding a long-handled warhammer with a warhammer emblem at the center of his helmet. His opponent's iron armor was a deep, dark blue, and he calmly swung a blunted Morningstar in his hand. The armor of his mount, however, bore no family crest, only a sapphire.
Gendry watched the Blue Knight with interest. Besides his taxi soldiers, some Mercenaries joining the fun, and even some impoverished Knights from Across the Narrow Sea had come here to seek their fortune. This fierce and mysterious Knight was from Westeros, Across the Narrow Sea.
The Blue Knight was probably around six feet five inches tall and very heavily built, somewhat like a lesser version of the Mountain. Gendry vaguely suspected the person's identity but did not expose him.
The two warhorses tangled together like lovers at a harvest dance, the Knights swinging their weapons instead of leaning in to dance. Both held a shield in one hand and a weapon in the other. The warhammer swept, the Morningstar spun, both blunted beforehand, yet still producing terrifying sounds.
"Ser Jorah, do you know the origins of this Knight? He appears very tall and mighty," Daenerys asked softly.
"A mysterious Knight from Across the Narrow Sea, Princess. But from his appearance, he must be a very robust Knight. Yet he doesn't want us to see his face, so he might also be a high-ranking Westeros Knight," Jorah said, looking at the Blue Knight. However, Jorah had great confidence in Gendry; no one had ever been able to defeat the Commander-in-Chief directly on the battlefield.
"Jen, you can do it!" Daenerys, also caught up in the excitement of the match, couldn't help but applaud Gendry.
Gendry calmly swung his warhammer, striking his opponent's head and shoulders. The Blue Knight also fought back fiercely, his whistling Morningstar striking Gendry's shield. The shield bore four emblems: a warhammer, Three Dragons, a Wolf Pack, and liberated slaves.
Gendry looked at the dents on the shield, which had even deformed due to the Blue Knight's strength, but was still barely usable. Gendry was not flustered. The warhammer and the Blue Knight's shield clashed, and the Blue Knight's shield shattered from Gendry's blows. The Blue Knight even dropped his shield, attacking only with the Morningstar. The Morningstar moved unpredictably, showing the Blue Knight's impressive skill.
The whistling sound of the Morningstar was somewhat unsettling; as the hammer ball struck, Gendry caught it with his dented, decorated quartered shield.
Gendry's speed suddenly increased; the warhammer moved with alarming swiftness, leaving a blur in its wake, and then directly knocked the Morningstar flying. Though somewhat startled, the Blue Knight recovered, and the two warhorses began to separate, preparing for the final charge.
The soldiers' cheers reached a crescendo with the fervent battle, and they began to shout like roaring beasts. "Long live the Wolf Pack!" "Long live Wolf's Den!"
"The game is over," Gendry thought. The two warhorses collided violently, and the warhammer, seemingly imbued with immense power, smashed into the Blue Knight's battered armor.
By all accounts, the Blue Knight was in a desperate situation. But the Blue Knight, drawing an unknown surge of strength, actually gripped the axe handle with his steel-armored fingers. The Blue Knight intended to use his brute force to wrench the warhammer away.
"Do you want to take it?" Gendry looked at the furious Blue Knight; it was a pure test of strength between them. The warhorses neighed beneath them. The Blue Knight's frenzy didn't last long, as he realized his opponent was still at ease, and his proud strength seemed to be failing him.
Gendry's steed and the Blue Knight's separated. The Blue Knight's attempt failed, and the warhammer remained firmly in Gendry's control. Gendry's warhammer descended from above the Blue Knight's head. The Blue Knight, having lost his weapon and shield, looked even more precarious. The Blue Knight even slid off his horse; though he didn't fall, he stood bewildered on the ground, his horse also neighing.
"Long live the Wolf Pack!"
"Long live the Magistrate!" The people's voices turned into a roar, everyone cheering. Daenerys also clapped enthusiastically; victory was always sweet.
The Blue Knight felt as if his arm and cheek had been brutally crushed; this was a pure clash of strength.
Gendry's heavy hammer broke the Blue Knight's stubbornness. The next charge was about to begin, and the warhammer was poised to pry open the Blue Knight's visor.
"Surr-surrender," the Blue Knight stammered these words through his broken, bleeding lips.
Gendry heard this voice, and although the Blue Knight was disguised, his voice still carried a feminine quality.
Gendry first turned to face the crowd. Gendry raised his warhammer, saluting the crowd. The Magistrate took off his helmet, revealing a handsome young face. The cheers of the people grew even more fervent, and the atmosphere reached its peak at this moment.
Gendry then returned to the battlefield, dismounted, and helped the defeated Blue Knight. "This person is also a true warrior, and worthy of praise."
So everyone threw flowers and praises into the arena, commending this Knight who had come from afar.
The Blue Knight looked at Gendry. Although Gendry did not know the detailed appearance of the person beneath the helmet, he indeed had a pair of beautiful large eyes.
Upon closer inspection, the Blue Knight's brilliant blue armor was not dazzling; it was covered in wounds, with dents from warhammers and Morningstars, gouges carved by longswords, and chips of enamel flaking off the breastplate and helmet, while the cape was torn into strips. From his movements, it was clear the Blue Knight had sustained significant injuries.
The Blue Knight pondered, as if seeing a more warrior-like, stronger Renly. She had seen Renly: slender limbs, broad shoulders, soft, straight charcoal-black hair, azure eyes, and even the faint smile was identical. But Renly did not possess such a demeanor; he was more of a warrior, more valiant.
"Thank you," the Blue Knight replied softly, and then the Medics entered the city to attend to the defeated Knight.
The Blue Knight refused to have his helmet and visor removed by others, and was mysteriously escorted away, as if an interlude in a thrilling match.
