Chapter 1 - Prologue

Emberdawn meadow(used to be called Emberlight forest but most of the trees were burned down), 2108

The dawn was split open with a yowl, somewhere in the forest. Sunset looked up to see a burst of light as somewhere faraway in the trees. Flames flickered on the sky as the chasm in the sky grew and the stars started disappearing like minuscule lights reflecting off glitter.

Everyone was here. Sunset's older brother and sister and even dandelion, But where was his love?

'NO- SILVESTER! COME BACK-'

But the chaos hid his yowls as a figure, dark in the distance slowly levitating with a light out of the chasm beaming directly onto it as suddenly like a tiny spark igniting into an inferno. As she just grazed the void with her muzzle, she turned towards him, one last time. A clearing was made as Silvester's trademark violet eyes gazed down at him one last time and the earth shook as a sudden gale swept through his flanks as the slice closed suddenly, and the world returned to normal once more.

In his mind, blinding pain and anguish hit him like waves, rolling away but always coming back. His true love had gone, forever. Just after she had told him that she had fallen slowly in love too.

All of a sudden, a blinding light hit his eyes and pain shot through his nerves, making him paralyzed in place. NO! NOT AGAIN— HE MUST NOT FORGET HER— FINALLY, HIS DREAMS COULD HAVE APPEARED AND INSTEAD HE CHOSE LOVE—

Love. The deadliest thing of them all. A poison that tastes like sunshine.

But this was the ending all cats took, after they'd known too much, all they wanted was to forget— to let him forget..

What time was this in?

When seconds passed- it seemed like hours he opened his eyes to find the Milky Way dancing above. He was deserted except for the galaxies and lights dancing above, alone except the stars who gazed gown with nor empathy nor hate, as they simply observed his anguish. He could not remember.. what had happened? Why was he here?

Who was he?

*One year ago*

The forest of River Valley, 2107

Silver's pelt protected her from the dry summer air of the night as she stepped out onto the fresh patch of grass outside the shed. The crescent moon shone through the saplings surrounding the area made the shadows dance like figures weaving through the blades of grass as only shadows could. She would not dance with them tonight, as she would have done every night. Something different was about the stars, as if they had turned colder, crueler. Another presence was somewhere here, lurking just out of her range of senses. She strained, even now to distinguish the many scents that looked over her, even when the daylight creatures were asleep and only the owls fluttered to and fro on the nearby branches. Something, on the edge of her mind was calling her. She tried desperately to reach the sound, but the environment brought her back to her senses and body each time.

A sudden *crunch* behind the shed made her whip her head around, gaze fixating on the clump of bushes and ferns hidden in the shadows. The smell of pine cones and something peculiar filled her nose as she pointed it, drinking in the scent of the foreigner. They smelled like.. a certain flower, one that she had smelled long ago. The name was distant in her mind, and after a few moments she remembered that it was called a morning glory. She had seen it near some roots in the familiar cat's garden he proudly owned, even though the patch of grass was nowhere near human territories or had anything useful inside. He so named it a garden because it was in the sides of two foul-smelling pieces of the black strips that humans used to take their large 'cars' around everywhere. One time she even saw one with two wheels instead of four. She vaguely wondered if it was some sort of smaller species before it had swerves violently to the right, nearly crashing into her as the human on top yanked off her head to reveal the face of any other ordinary, with no fur and weird face parts.

Another sound, this time a muffled 'ow' caught her attention again as she snapped herself from her thoughts. She recognized them now, as their scent befuddled her brain. But why was him there, deep in the forest? The home she had found long ago had been discovered by accident. Her paws had taken here, going this way and that as the barking of terrors with bloodstained teeth grew nearer she had desperately ran unknowingly into the clearing, not noticing that the dogs had stopped and were searching for her, as though some protection had been settled on her. She had looked at the stars, searching for an answer but none came. The dogs disappeared eventually at dawn, slinking back into the depths to probably go back to their humans for food and shelter. She did not need them no more.

Ever since, she had inhabited this place that slowly turned into a home. Over the days she had taken vines with beautiful lavenders and strewn them on the wood walls and made a nest with the feathers from a sparrow she had caught for food.

No creature except the inhabiting wildlife had noticed her and that was only when she was hunting. When she stepped out of the shelter each time the prey ignored her and continued their own conversations-that is, until a dead mouse or hare. Then they all flew or scuttled off into the trees and watched with curious, if perhaps skeptic, about the kill. There was nothing that she could do, for how could she survive eating plants and leaves?

A shadowy figure emerged from the leaves and yep, that bushy tail was definitely him, with all his savage glory.

The Tom stepped out from the darkness and Silver found herself looking into the eyes of the cat who took her heart, so long ago. They'd both changed now, both matured and grown older, and she'd nearly forgotten him, the memory of him somewhere in her thoughts that she tried to push away. That was what was bothering her all day..

Pain eclipsed her vision as she tried to remember; she'd had this dream before but she wasn't supposed to be still sleeping no.. she was supposed to be awake already.. NO!

The memory was struck into the darkness as his sad eyes met hers for the first and last time she remembered.

All was silent.
