Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Mystic Queen's Visit

Backlund, West End, 51 Henry Street.

That evening, Odis Gard, having just finished her busy work, was resting in an armchair.

Ring ring~

The bell hanging on the door rang; it was so late, yet there were still customers.

Under the bright light of the gas lamp, Odis lazily looked up and then immediately sat up.

The visitor was a woman with waist-length chestnut hair and striking eyebrows that gave her a somewhat heroic air.

She had a great figure, neither too fat nor too thin, and her azure eyes were as beautiful as a concentrated ocean.

The other woman's chestnut hair and beautiful face, along with her unusual yet uniquely beautiful white shirt, trousers, and black leather boots, reminded Odis of a great figure from an extraordinary world: the mysterious queen, Bernadette.

The reason he made these connections was not because of clues he got from the legend of the "mysterious queen," but because Odis was a time traveler and remembered the hair color and unique style of the eldest daughter of Emperor Roselle.

He transmigrated to this world three years ago, and upon arriving, he became a "Secret Seeker" due to an extraordinary event triggered by "Source Matter".

He digested the "Secret Seeker" potion simply because he remembered a part of the original plot.

Because of this extraordinary case, Odis was highly regarded by the "Heart of the Machines" and was closely monitored for a long time. He even suspected that the God of Steam and Machines had been watching him.

Fortunately, they were also unsure of the connection between Odis and the "source matter," which is why he wasn't captured and dissected, or studied like an alien.

Odis has finally had the opportunity for promotion, but for now he is still a "secret seeker".

Back at the herbal shop, Odis immediately smiled and stood up, saying, "Hello, how can I help you?"

The newcomer was Bernadette. As she entered, she also sized up Odice, a young man of about twenty-three or twenty-four with black pupils and slightly curly black hair.

He was fairly handsome, with thin lips, a high nose, and bright, expressive eyes.

He wore a linen shirt and a loose-fitting coat, with cloth shoes on his feet. It was not a gentlemanly outfit, but it must have been very comfortable.

The counters and cabinets in the herbal shop are filled with all sorts of common herbs, making it look like a very ordinary shop.

Finally, Bernadette's gaze fell on Odis: "I have something I'd like you to see."

Odis was slightly taken aback. Was this person coming to him to sell the stolen goods?

It was because of the extraordinary events that occurred when he came to this world, and his business running a herbal medicine shop, that Odis gained some connections in the extraordinary world, and some extraordinary beings would use his channels to sell stolen goods.

But a "mysterious queen" should have her own channels for selling stolen goods.

As Odis pondered this, she hung up the "Closed" sign and then drew the curtains and window screens.

After doing all this, he stood behind the counter and gestured for him to enter.

Bernadette took a small wooden box from her pocket, placed it on the counter, and pushed it toward Odice.

When the herbalist Odis opened the box, he found dozens of oddly shaped metal objects that looked like building blocks. On one side of the metal objects, there were some engravings that looked like they had been made with fluorescent light, giving off a faint dark red glow.

Upon seeing this, Odis's eyes narrowed, but he quickly concealed his surprise and asked with a frown, "What is this?"

"You should know her," Bernadette said with a polite smile.

Odis feigned ignorance: "Sorry, I have no recollection of that."

Odis put on a professional smile: "Our store has limited business scope and we are unable to acquire this fine item. Please try somewhere else."

"Let me give you a heads-up." Bernadette had an expression that said, "I knew it all along." "Pete, 116 Michel Street."

Odis, who was familiar with the neighborhood, knew very well that Pete, who lived at 116 Rue Michel, was a "master thief".

The contents of the box were the weapons Odis had lost yesterday. He had consulted a divination and knew that Pete had stolen them. In the afternoon, he had just sent someone to negotiate with this "master thief."

Odis's smile vanished: "Since you're so well-informed, you should know who my 'behind-the-scenes boss' is."

"Of course I know, and I also know about your relationship with the 'behind-the-scenes boss'." Bernadette placed her hand on the counter and said earnestly, "But I still came!"

Odiston was somewhat helpless. Even in Backlund, unless the royal family or the church sent angels to intervene, no one could do anything to the person in front of him.

To be precise, Bernadette would not be afraid even when facing enemies at the angel level, after all, she has three level 0 sealed artifacts by herself!

Odis sighed and said, "Are you interested in the extraordinary applications of this weapon?"

Bernadette nodded: "The young man is very clever. First, I need to know who made this extraordinary weapon and what its working principle is, and then I can assemble it."

Odis smiled and said, "You should have realized that I am not a craftsman. This is a failed experiment by the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery, and they asked me to deal with it for them."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Then he changed the subject: "I'm curious, how did you take it apart?"

"Lies!" The "mysterious queen" narrowed her eyes, not falling for Odis's trick: "Even if it's a failed experiment, the church wouldn't lay a hand on something like this!"

"As for how I took it apart, that's my business."

She took this extraordinary weapon apart, but couldn't put it back together.

Bernadette placed both hands on the counter: "You'd better tell the truth, or you'll force me to resort to any means necessary."

This extraordinary weapon was actually made by Odis, but it hides his greatest secret.

After arriving in this world, Odis gained a strange ability: every Sunday after he fell asleep, he would enter a mysterious space.

That mysterious space was composed of layers of light forming knowledge, which was all-encompassing. As long as Odis could think of it, he could find the corresponding knowledge in it.

But every time you enter that space, you have to complete a task before you can wake up. Even if you stay in that space for a year, you'll only have taken a nap after you come out.

There, you can choose your own research topic, but it can't be too superficial. You need to have some of your own opinions and research conclusions, otherwise that space won't let you in.

At first, Odis was rather perfunctory, but as he gained more and more knowledge from it, the topics gradually became more and more profound.

That extraordinary weapon came from one of his research findings, an innovative application of spiritual materials.

Just as Odis was about to use the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery as an excuse again, the "Mysterious Queen" Bernadette suddenly raised her hand, signaling Odis not to speak. She seemed to be listening intently to some sound. The next second, she said, "Come with me to a place first."

Before Odis could even ask "Where to?", a phantom feather covered him. When the phantom feather dissipated, Odis found himself in the Kingdom Museum located on the King's Road.

Odis was slightly taken aback. He remembered that the Kingdom Museum was currently holding the "Roselle Memorial Exhibition"!
