Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 They Can't Hear

Klein and Mike were first led by a waiter to a reception room on the first floor. After sitting for only a few minutes, they were invited by another waiter to go to the third floor.

On his way to the stairs, Klein saw the huge ballroom on the first floor.

The roof of the first floor was opened up, and a magnificent and huge chandelier hung down from the top of the second floor. This structure made the ballroom look big and tall, and the murals and decorations even gave people a sense of art.

Klein remarked that although it wasn't as luxurious as a noble ballroom, it still gave off a very classy vibe.

This should be a favorite among the middle class; spending money in such a place makes them feel very respectable.

Even when supporting the business of streetwalkers, they prefer to go to more respectable places.

The ballroom was deserted at the moment, with only a few waiters cleaning.

On the sofa in the ballroom, two or three women were chatting and laughing. When Klein and Mike appeared, they all looked at the two men with smiles.

Klein suddenly had a feeling similar to when girls looked at him back in school.

Mike remarked, "The feeling here is definitely different."

Klein nodded in agreement.

Following the waiter to the third floor, we found the decor to be even more luxurious, with areas for activities like squash and billiards, as well as dining areas, cafes, and more.

Of course, there are also cozy rooms here.

The two were led to a small reception room, where Mandy was already waiting. She stood up from the sofa and said with a serious expression, "It's a pleasure to meet you both."

Besides Mandy, Enoch was also there, but he didn't get up; instead, he looked at the two guests with a gloomy expression.

He's here today just to intimidate us; he doesn't need to say anything.

As soon as Klein entered, he looked at a wall at the back, and he felt that there was a gaze watching him and Mike from there.

Mike replied, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Mandy."

Mandy gestured for everyone to sit down, and then she asked Mike, "Have you heard of 'Nanmu Ballroom' before?"

Mike frankly admitted, "I don't know much about it."

Mandy said seriously, "Then why do you write reports that are easy to misunderstand?"

Mike was initially quite calm, but Mandy's question made him suddenly uneasy: "I... I was just reporting the facts, there was nothing to smear."

Klein thought to himself: Without realizing it, the initiative in this conversation had already been taken into Ms. Mandy's hands.

This is not an extraordinary tactic; it's just ordinary rhetoric.

But the cold gaze of the menacing man beside him, and Ms. Mandy's powerful aura, affected even the experienced Mike.

Seeing Mike begin to explain, and seeing him grow increasingly flustered, Klein cleared his throat and said, "Since Mr. Gar is here, why don't you come out and talk to us yourself?"

Mandy was slightly taken aback, her conversation strategy was instantly interrupted.

Just as she was about to deny it, the inner wall slowly opened, and Odis stepped out from the hidden door: "I didn't need to talk to this reporter Mike in person, but you are different."

Klein was slightly taken aback, realizing that Mr. Gar had already discovered him, that he was an extraordinary being, and therefore received "different treatment."

Immediately afterwards, he felt that this "Mr. Gar" gave him a very familiar feeling.

However, since the other person was wearing a mask that only revealed their mouth and chin, it was unclear where they had seen the person before, so the divination could only be performed when there was more time later.

At this moment, all four people in the room stood up. Odis sat down opposite reporter Mike, and Mandy and Enoch quickly stood behind him.

Odis opened the cigar box on the coffee table, picked up two cigars and tossed them aside: "Give me a cigar."

Odis's "fighting scholar" ability allowed him to precisely control his strength, and one of the cigars landed steadily in the hand of reporter Mike, even between his index and middle fingers.

Just as the other cigar was about to reach Klein's hand, he flicked it away with a "magician's" skill, sending it flying back into the cigar box: "Sorry, I don't smoke cigars."

Odis casually flicked his wrist, then tossed the cigar back at Klein: "Have one."

Klein was about to flick the flying cigar away again when, as if it had come to life, it suddenly turned just before it touched his hand, avoiding his outstretched hand but falling right into his palm.

The contest happened very quickly; by the time Mike and his team realized what was happening, it was already over.

When Odis was hiding in the dark room and realized that Klein had been looking at him several times, he knew that Klein must have noticed his presence. After all, the "diviner" was also an extraordinary person with a high level of spirituality.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

If it were "Odis, the herbalist shop owner," then it wouldn't matter if he was discovered. But now Odis is "Mr. Gar," who has a gray business. Even if he is discovered, it would be reasonable for him to give the other party a warning before he comes out openly.

Klein sensed the immense pressure emanating from "Mr. Garr" and understood his intention to intimidate him. Of course, he wouldn't confront him head-on on someone else's turf, so he put away his cigar: "I'll take it back and smoke it."

It was only then that he suddenly realized: our exchange just now felt a bit like a duel between masters in a martial arts movie... Ah, Mr. Garr must be an extraordinary person skilled in close combat.

After giving the "bodyguard" a tap that made Mike feel immense pressure, Odis, while cutting a cigar, said to Mike, "Mr. Reporter, I've read some of your reports, and they're very insightful."

"But I'd like to ask you a question: your reporting has garnered some attention, but has it solved any real problems?"

"For example, the poverty in the East District, and the increasingly unfriendly economic policies towards the middle class."

After Odis cut the cigar, Enoch immediately bent down and slowly lit it for him with a lighter.

As a herbalist, Odis always smoked tobacco that he roasted himself and added some herbs, while as the "leader" of the Mysticism Research Society, he always smoked cigarettes.

When he was "Mr. Gard", he smoked cigars.

Different clothes have been tainted with different smells of smoke; this is just one detail.

Of course, the main difference lies in the distinct personalities Odis gave these three characters.

So the herbalist Odysseus, Mr. Gard, and the "chief" appear to be three different people.

Under pressure from "Mr. Garr's" imposing presence, Mike honestly replied, "Some problems were solved, but most were not."

Odis took a puff of his cigar and gestured for Mike and Klein to sit down: "Mr. Reporter, I know you are a journalist with a high level of professional ethics and have done many things to help others."

"But you can't solve the problems of poverty in the East District and the tragic fate of streetwalkers, because the people who follow your reports don't care about the fate of the poor and streetwalkers!"

Mike was slightly taken aback, and suddenly felt as if he had grasped the key to the problem!
