Chapter 29 -  Death Sentence!

"Monster?"

White Flame's lips curled into a cold smile.

"You've been calling me that all along, haven't you?

So what's wrong now, Doflamingo?

Don't recognize your 'man-eating monster'?

Or has fear finally started to cloud that arrogant mind of yours?"

White Flame's resurrection didn't just stun Doflamingo—it paralyzed everyone.

Kyros. Senor Pink. Viola.

All of them stared, speechless.

"He's… he's still alive?"

Senor's pacifier fell from his mouth again, his eyes wide beneath his shades.

"He's not dead…" Viola whispered. "Then maybe… this country still has hope!"

Even Kyros could hardly believe what he saw.

He remembered White Flame once saying that "death means nothing" to him.

He'd thought it was just bravado—until now.

A man reduced to a mangled corpse moments ago… standing again as if reborn.

There was only one explanation:

He couldn't die.

"Fear?" Doflamingo barked out a laugh that didn't quite mask his unease.

"You think I—Donquixote Doflamingo—would fear a cannibal freak like you?"

His grin widened, his eyes manic.

"I don't know how you came back, but don't fool yourself. No one's immortal."

"Your power must have limits."

"If I can kill you once—"

"—I'll just kill you again!"

He snapped both hands upward, fury twisting his strings.

The city around them shuddered, turning once more into a writhing field of white threads.

[Everwhite Ocean!]

The ground beneath their feet became a sea of lines, churning and foaming like a living tide.

Threads surged from every direction, coiling around White Flame's body.

"Let's see how you like being torn apart a thousand times over!"

[Thousand Arrows: Winged Execution!]

With a roar, Doflamingo conjured thousands of Armament-infused strings that spread like the flaming wings of a bird, folding around White Flame from every angle.

These were his finishing moves, the techniques he only used against monsters worthy of fear.

And now, he used them all at once.

He had no choice—his instincts screamed that if this battle dragged on,

something far worse than defeat awaited him.

The piercing threads struck home.

White Flame's body was impaled over and over, like a human pincushion.

Yet even as his flesh tore and blood spattered across the silk web,

he smiled.

That smile made Doflamingo's heartbeat stutter.

Then came the bandages.

They burst from White Flame's wounds, wrapping around him, coiling tighter and tighter—

Doflamingo's pupils shrank.

"That damn trick again—!"

Sweat poured down his temples. Not from exhaustion—

from something far more primal.

Fear.

"Looking for me?"

The voice came from behind.

Doflamingo spun instantly, unleashing a blast of raw, oppressive will.

BOOM—

Conqueror's Haki!

The invisible force slammed into the space behind him, freezing the figure there in mid-stride.

"I told you!" Doflamingo roared, eyes bloodshot.

"I was born chosen by heaven! I'm destined to be king!"

"You can't kill me! Not you! Not ever!"

He whipped his arm back, threads exploding forth again—

skewering the White Flame behind him into pieces.

But this time, the man unraveled into bandages once more.

Not the real one.

"Where—?"

"Where the hell are you hiding!?"

Doflamingo's Observation Haki flared, spreading through the air like radar.

But there was nothing. No presence. No heartbeat. No killing intent.

Even Viola, with her Glare-Glare Fruit, couldn't sense him.

Unless White Flame wanted to be found, he was invisible to every form of perception.

Then Doflamingo felt the ground tremble.

He looked down—

and saw spikes of stone erupting beneath his feet.

"That's—Pica's power?!"

He leapt into the air instantly, threads forming footholds.

[Stone Kraken!]

Eight gigantic tentacles of rock burst from the ground, twisting skyward and striking from above like the arms of a colossal octopus.

"You dare use my family's powers against me?!"

"You bastard—!"

[White Shield!]

Massive threads surged upward, weaving into a thick barrier that caught the stone limbs and shattered them midair.

[Stone Bite!]

The ground below split open, revealing a massive stone face—White Flame's likeness carved in rock, mouth wide, snapping at him like a beast.

"You think this can hurt me?" Doflamingo sneered.

"Come out, coward! Stop hiding!"

"I'll find you—and when I do, I'll tear you into a thousand pieces!"

He hurled another tide of threads, smashing the stone head into rubble.

White Flame didn't answer.

He kept attacking silently, relentlessly—

using Pica's Stone-Stone Fruit powers to harass him from every direction.

Doflamingo destroyed them all.

But with every counterattack, his breathing grew heavier.

"Ha… ha… ha…"

Sweat streamed down his face, his body trembling slightly as he hovered in midair.

Then the earth went still.

No more stone. No more sound.

"What's the matter? Run out of stamina?"

Doflamingo sneered.

"Pica trained his body for years to sustain that power. You think you can just steal it and last longer than him?"

"You're nothing compared to him!"

"Is that so?"

A voice came from below.

A stone pillar rose from the ground—

and atop it stood White Flame, his real body finally revealed.

His eyes glowed coldly.

"Doflamingo… you look far more exhausted than I do."

"How much longer can you keep that awakening up?"

"How many times can you still force out your Conqueror's Haki?"

He raised his hand slowly, pointing at the man in the sky.

"Donquixote Doflamingo—your verdict has already been decided."

"You've been sentenced to death."

"And I'm here… to carry it out."
