Chapter 56 - The Terrifying Island Deity — A Beast That Holds a God’s Mandate!

[Bonus Chapter for PowerStones]

Lance, as Team Rocket's lifelong nemesis, recognized their uniforms in an instant.

But something was off.

Alola was just a remote little archipelago, practically unknown to the wider world.

Even Lance had never heard of its so-called "Island Guardians."

So how did Team Rocket learn about this place?

Yet in the footage, the guardian deity of the island—Tapu Koko—was already surrounded by a full squad of Rocket grunts.

And the Pokémon they released were all over the place—

But nearly every one of them was a fully-evolved third-stage Pokémon!

And leading the group…

Were two especially unusual Pokémon—

They resembled Aggron and Steelix, yet at the same time…

They clearly weren't.

Their bodies were different. Their shapes were warped.

As if…

They had evolved further.

[Raihan: Wait… can Aggron Mega Evolve too?!]

[Steven: AND MEGA STEELIX?!]

The two Steel-type fanatics had spoken simultaneously—

Their attention was laser-focused on the steel-types instead of the situation.

[Wallace: Idiots! Forget the Mega Evolutions!

Isn't the problem right now that a guardian deity is in danger?!]

[Wallace: Even a legendary Pokémon would struggle against dozens of attackers…

especially when Mega Evolutions are involved!]

[Professor Kukui: Please rest assured, Wallace.

Tapu Koko… is not that weak.]

As the comments fluttered across the screen, Team Rocket launched their attack.

Dozens of moves were fired at once—

Flamethrower, Flash Cannon, Overheat, and more…

All ranged attacks.

Even with their numbers, not a single one of them dared get close to the Island Guardian.

Tapu Koko remained silent and still.

Then—

In the trembling gaze of the world—

Tapu Koko moved.

He thrust his right hand into the ground—

A violent, surging power exploded outward from his body!

Purple light crackled, energy storms erupted—

The earth beneath him smoothed into a mirror-like violet sheen.

And with Tapu Koko at its center—

A purple shockwave detonated outward like a nuclear blast!

Its range—

covered nearly the entire dead volcano.

The heavens and earth shuddered.

It was Tapu Koko's signature move—

Nature's Madness.

"BOOM!"

A deafening explosion shook the entire scene.

Smoke filled the screen.

When it finally cleared—

Tapu Koko floated calmly in midair…

And every single Pokémon that had attacked him—

Even the two monstrous Mega Evolutions—

Lay unconscious on the ground.

Tapu Koko's eyes swept toward the Rocket grunts—

Instantly sending them screaming and scrambling to return their Pokémon and run for their lives.

But did they think

they could come and go as they pleased before an Island Deity?

Golden electricity erupted—

Thunder crashed like the wrath of heaven.

Every Rocket grunt was blasted black by a single Discharge!

Before any could even twitch—

Pink light enveloped Tapu Koko's body.

He shot forward like a cannonball—

Slamming into the already-charred grunts one by one, sending them flying into the air like dolls.

Within moments—

Not a single Team Rocket member remained in the volcano.

As for whether they were still alive…

No one cared.

Evil teams like this

were not the harmless clown trio from Kanto.

The world's attention was on something else entirely—

Tapu Koko's terrifying power.

Other legendary Pokémon were strong, yes—

But still within somewhat reasonable limits.

Tapu Koko, however…

It was simply on an entirely different level.

Nothing like any legend seen so far.

The footage abruptly ended.

The shortest "pre-battle recap" yet…

But also the most visceral display of divine power.

"SO COOL!! The Island Deity is so cool! He's my new favorite Pokémon from now on!"

"How can Tapu Koko be THIS badass?!"

"Ahh~ I want Tapu Koko to zap me too…"

"…"

"I've never seen Tapu Koko fight before.

He's far stronger than I ever imagined."

Professor Kukui muttered in awe.

"Tapu Koko fighting bad guys… he's AMAZING!!

Do the other island guardians also have this much power?!"

Mallow, her green hair bouncing, was practically on fire from excitement.

Beside her, the elegant Lillie quietly added:

"Tapu Koko really is incredible…

Truly worthy of protecting our island."

But as she spoke, her eyes flickered subtly.

She wondered—

Would that boy from the previous tally appear again?

If he did…

Would that mean he would eventually come to Alola?

Pikachu… Ash…

They felt strangely familiar and warm.

[Lance: What terrifying, destructive power… He's not even in the same league as previous legendaries!]

[Bruno: Compared to him, Regice and Latios look weak as kittens!]

[Regi-Lover Jindai: ???

I advise you to rephrase unless you want me knocking at your door TODAY.]

[Cynthia: It's not that past legendaries were weak.

Tapu Koko is simply too strong.

My guess… Tapu Koko is a legendary Pokémon with a divine mandate.]

[Steven: A divine mandate…

Then this level of strength makes perfect sense.]

[Mallow: What's a divine mandate?!]

Her sudden question stunned the audience for a moment.

But then everyone remembered—

There were tons of silent watchers who had never spoken before.

[Professor Kukui: My apologies, that was one of my students!

Could someone explain to her what a divine mandate is?]

Despite the "Professor" title, Kukui's specialty was battle theory and Z-Moves, not mythology.

He knew very little about divine classifications.

[Cynthia: Ordinary legendary Pokémon have superior stats and immense power,

but they can still be fought and countered.]

[Cynthia: But those with a divine mandate are different.

They can draw power directly from nature and the world itself.

Every action and every attack becomes overwhelmingly stronger.

The gap between them and normal legendaries…

It's like the gap between legendaries and ordinary Pokémon.]

A divine-mandate legendary—

A god in the truest sense.
